Last phone I had sat collecting dust until I threw it at somebodys head

All it did was drain my money for logos, pics etc

I use for a year and a half now an Alcatel OT 735.
http://www.mobile-review.com/review/alcatel-735-en.shtml
Very satisfied with it. The only reason that I might buy a new phone some time next year will be to get one that has a 1 or 2 megapixel camera. Other than that I prefer phones very simple, as this 735 is.

Mobile phones are expensive, but are useful especially in the winter time when its snowing here in Canada and the roads are slippery, or when coming home from work in the car and for example something breaks down, you'd kind of want a cell phone to call someone to come and pick you up especially in rural towns where I live where there is hardly any traffic at night.

And a lot of teenagers now these days also have mobile phones..I just don't know why.

I don't take it personaly, but, I have this alcatel for over a year and I find it very comfortable to use, and it is working perfectly since day one, including the display.

I do not like Nokia phones, they all look the same to me and the naming convention where I do not know which model is which and which is newer than the other, annoy me, a lot.
I used to own a Nokia phone for about 6 or so months, it wasn't a bad phone, but I wouldn't go back to it.
So far my best phones have been Philips and Sony.

I use my mobile phone instead of house phone. My parents have house phone, but I never use it and I usually don't answer it either when it rings. One friend of mine has my house number, and she never uses it.

I also never go anywhere on the car except taking my phone with me. I dont' wanna be stuck somewhere where I can't call for help. Too bad I lost my handfree set =/

Seriously, I must only use it like, once a month, to get a call from some random person I somehow know.

My grandpa bought it for me and I wasn't gonna reject it

Depends where you live...
I got mine for little more then 20$(US) - a brand new model with a camera and an mp3 player... To sen an SMS or an MMS (the one with a picture) inside Slovenia only costs 4SIT (our curency) - that would be like 1/2 of a cent (that's right - one half of a cent).

So it's not expensive. And no, I could not imagine life without it. I've been using mobile phones for 8 years now and I haven't had a stationary phone in the place I lived for 6 years now (the regular phone would be more expensive). The only reason why I considered geting the regular phone line was that it took almost a year before I got cable internet here (cable TV was never a problem).

Besides, over 75% of Slovenian population has a mobile phone therefore the regular phones are getting very obscelete.

Hush it. My Alcatel is nearly perfect (lacks memory space only), and I have used 3 Nokia's before, ending up unsatisfied with all of them.

Alcatel > Nokia in:

Software
Display
Battery
Weight
Price
Sound & Reception
Graphics

(Of course you can't compare a 5 year old Alcatel model to a fresh new top technology Nokia phone - on reasonable comparisons, Nokia will only win in style, which is a thing I couldn't care less).

True that! I have a Nokia 3315. It's the cheapest thing you can get in a store, and it's crappy. You use it for phone calls and text messages. No frills. It's sturdy: I've dropped it, stepped on it, kicked it, left it outside in the rain an entire night, dropped it in a puddle, taken it apart and put it back together 5 times, and it still works perfectly.
Because it's so cheap, I don't have to worry about losing it, breaking it or having it stolen. If any of the above happen, I"ll fork over the $49 AUD and get another one.

Unfortunately I do, I never wanted one, my parents forced it on my so they could contact me if I'm out, or during the day when I am in my room where I can't hear the phone. Thing is I always forget it, I've had it for about 4 weeks now and it hasn't made anything easier. My life was much, much better without it.

It's a Nokia 2112 Telstra CDMA = useless. Telstra are scrapping the CDMA network in a few months and even though my dad knew this he still bought it.

I don't have one and don't want one. I had one for a while, because my old job paid for it. I didn't like carrying it around and dreaded answering it every time it rang, because more often than not it was someone with a problem that I was supposed to solve. The job I have now doesn't pay for a mobile phone, so I don't have one, and I'm a teeny bit happier because of it.

To those who have one: Do you know how to turn it off? More importantly, do you know when to turn it off?
