Does anyone know of any websites where you can find out the rarity or value of old PC games?

I've got boxed copies of Zork I-III, Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy and Faery Tale Adventure (all 3.5") that I want to put up on eBay, but I don't want to sell them for peanuts if they're worth something!

I once saw the complete collection of Space Quest for 40€ each. And it started at the amount of 0€. So I think if your games are rare they will reach a high amount...

I suppose the average price they are going for on eBay would be the best way to find out. Besides you wouldn't get a sale if they were higher.

I've seen the complete collection of Leisure Suit Larry (1-7) go for $150 on eBay

Thanks, I guess I'll just put them on eBay and see what happens.

I saw an unopened copy of Monkey Island 2 (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/MONKEY-ISLAND-2-1991-SEALED-BOX-FREE-WORLD-SHIPPING_W0QQitemZ8233706460QQcategoryZ11047QQrdZ1 QQcmdZViewItem) go for ?100 recently so I thought I'd start digging out some of my old games that are sat gathering dust. A site listing the rarity of games would be really useful, but it doesn't look like any exist :(

I'm almost sure that something like that exists...

In the past, I was looking for an original of "Touch?: the adventures of the fifth muscheteer" and I come in a site of game collectors (that game was saled at 150€ or more :eeeeeh: )
I'm sorry that I've not the link for you...

Those are exceptions though - often because there's something rare about it.

The LSL collection isn't rare - what IS rare is the Quest for Glory Anthology which will always fetch over ?30 on ebay.

Other rare games:

Touché The Fifth Musketeer -- sells for ?50-100 easily (I know, I sold one copy for ?100 once ;) )

Discworld II in original packaging (none of the re-release stuff)

For a good idea, check Gametz and check out the "wanted"/"available" ratio.

Well if its original, good condition or never opened and either a classic or from a small production run you should be able to get a highish price. generally the older the better.
Most SNES games sell for more than N64 now.

I have a LOT of old games.
I have the original Dark Forces, with the manual and cheat codes. Almost mint condition and resealed.

Also, the Ultima 7 full package :P Dungeon keeper 1 with the manual and box.
Outpost and Syndicate.

PRIVATEER with the beta guide and quandrant maps.

I also have a copy of the Original Discworld. hehe, I love it.

"edit, I just found QFG anthology selling for 50 US dollars"

But I would prefer all the Quest for glory games indivually boxed up, because the anthology is a CDROM and that spoils the look. Also, is there any way I could find the music from QFG 1, or the sheet music?

Some of those old games really had tons of resource materials in the boxes. I still have my old Magic Candle I complete, and Ultima VII, as well; some others, too, though over time, I broke up quite a few game boxes to save space.
