NOTE: Run Install.exe to configure your controls (don't try to install your game, because you can't), and the run Sensible.exe to start the game. :ok: :ok: :ok:

When there are a few executable files in a game directory, its usually wise to try running all of them if one doesn't work

You should run the game with soc_k.exe, not soc.exe

Have fun!

I`ve played this game on a Atari (dont know wich one...it was from my cousins) but it is just too easy to score (same problem Fifa goT)

just walk at the side line...cross at the right moment to the middle and then just shoot...it`s always a goal...

But still for that time..a brilliant football game :ok:

Never liked it. Last time I played this was on my Amiga CD32. No wait, I recently tested an open source remake. It is hosted on Sourceforge. The name is Yoda Soccer, I think.

GDP is a wellknown economical term
its used in the US and the UK to callculate the total ammount of good and services created during a year.
this is called the Gross Domestic Product (GDP short)

the above is a very crude way to put it... but thats the basic of what the GDP is

anyway, back on topic

Also think it's too easy to score, but I've tried to score more special goals.
Not just run forward and shoot, which is fairly easy.

Been trying to cross and head the ball into the net instead...
Heading is a bit silly in this game though. <_<

Was this the first (good..) footie game ever??

Or where there older one`s??

Unknown Hero

I managed few times to score with head!!!
I also managed to change ball's direction *don't know how to say*:
When you press space-bar and the ball is still in the air, quickly press other direction then the one you were going (if you were going up then press right or left when the ball is in the air).

Hello,

I remember that in this game, there was the option to play it with custom teams , clubs and national teams, but I only see national teams.
Does not exist the option to play with clubs? (Barcelona, milan, Manchester, etc).

If it exists, somebody can say to me like activating it? I only see national teams.

Thank you very match !

This is the original game from 1992, you are probably thinking of Sensible World of Soccer or Sensible World of Soccer 96/97. :D

This does bring me to the question - why don't we have one of the later versions on the site?

In my opinion SWOS 96/97 was the best! :D

Unknown Hero
13-01-2005, 10:55 PM
First of all this is not Sensible world of Soccer, it's just Sensible Soccer.
Second - @Puma - go to "Load/Save data" and there you will find national, club and custom teams! :ok:

......then just run soc_k.bat (in DOSBox) and the game will run smoothly! :ok: :ok:

First, This is a great game.

Yes you can play with clubs, just push the Load/Save Data button and the load data, and then load clubs team and data. You can alsow rename the teams to what ever you like.

Well, in the begining it would seem very difficult to master controls, but later you will realise how simple they are! Controls are arrow keys and space-bar!

Hint: If you hold up (and have ball) press space and then instanly press right (or left) and the ball will change its dirrection. :ok: (there are some other good things, I will let you to find it out what)

i'm getting annoyed man, when i played SWOS (i had shareware version) the ball stuck to ur feet like in most games but in this one it doesn't let me change directiong without the ball just staying on the direction it was........ you all probably have this problem but i can' scores cos i can only run one way!

Aye its tricky but its possible, U can run straight at the goal and put a bit of curve on the ball when u shoot, usually works.

But I have another problem:

I can't find the soc_k.bat file

You have to run Install.exe to configure your controls, not to install the game!

Then you must run Sensible.exe and the game should work!

If you have Win98 then you can try this:
- right click on sensible.exe
- properties
- advanced
- check 'Run this game in MS-DOS'

I hope I told you everything correct, because I don't recall how it looks like in Win98 (I have WinXP).

No. This is version 1.1, and in this version you have to run sensible.exe!

For copy-protection answers => Try just pressing 'space' a few times and then press 'enter'. :ok:

can you mail me your sensible folder to hoite.prins@gmail.com
thank you!!

My sensible soccer folder path is D:\Igre\Stare\Soccer, but I am sure this wont help you. You have to do this:
- right click with mouse on 'sensible.exe' (or 'install.exe') => Properties => Program => In 'comand line' write your game path with quotation marks(example: '"D:\Games\Soccer\Sensible.exe"') => In 'working line' write your game path without executable file at the end, and without quotation marks (example: 'D:\Games\Soccer')
- Run game
- Don't cry if it doesn't work
- Don't blame me if this blocks your computer (just kidding)
- Good luck
LOL LOL LOL

okay, I'm using DOSBox to run the game and my computer runs on xp. Ive tried using both soc and soc_k to run the game and they both take me to the copy protection screen but i cant get any further. Ive tried typing in the example, no password, space bar and then enter but none work. I've also tried running the game using sensible.exe but that doesn't even get me to the intro screen. I've read all the posts and it seems like a lot of ppl have the same problem as me but no1 has sorted it out yet. Can ne1 help?!

Hey Hero!! Is the game this fast!? I try to run the sensible.exe file with MOSLO but it stucks after it runs MOSLO. Can I play this game with a slow-down program without reducing DOSBox's cycles. I can't score a goal on this game so fast!! :wall:

This is a best football game ever. What editor said about hard handling is just a sign that he didn't played this game a lot. Because every player in this game has different skills, so one can have good control, and another bad...
He didn't mentioned that you can choose any league in Europe, S. America, N. America, Asia etc. And that you can play real seasons, advance to champions league or Uefa cup...
Every aspect of football is shown in SENSIBLE SOCCER.

The game actually is very fast. That's why this game is so good (imagine slow Alien Vs. Predator? - imposible). You have to play it for a while, and then you will get into it and find how easy it is actually to play (I hope  ). :ok:

Later versions of this game should be posted on this site. First sensible soccer is charming but later versions had many improvements and every soccer league you could ever want! Playing career mode in them and winning the champions cup...priceless. It had features that no soccer or manager game ever matched!
Unfortuneatly playing it can get too easy. Just buy a very good attacker and that's it. Luckily we got a result mode too. Sensible soccer is a true gem! I've still got the 96/97 version.

You don't have to get soc_k file. Just run file Sensible.exe. Everything is written in review and in Readme.txt file in archive. :ok:

You can ask Kosta to give you FTP access to upload your version of Sensible soccer.

Uh, and by the way, I never heard that you can play career mode in any of Sensible Soccer versions.

Of course there is a career mode. You've got it in both 96/97 version and the one before. You choose a club and play in league, with possibilty of entering champions league and UEFA cup. You can also be called to be the manager of the national team in 96/97 version.

OK. I think I may have finally sorted this one out.

1. Open DOSBox.
2. Mount my sensible soccer directory as C

mount c d:\sensiblesoccer

3. Run INSTALL.EXE to configure my controls.
4. Run Sensible.exe to run the game.

You can enter anything in the copy protection boxes, it will accept anything.

Thanks

Okay. I have tried to get this game to work for almost several years now, and downloaded it from variable sources, and so far I've never made it past the password protection. It was my prefered game when I was younger, so I would really like to play it again  . I'm playing the game on my beloved 10-year old Pentium 133 with Windows 95 and DOS, but of course I am downloadning using another machine. I've never passed the password protection, i've tried pressing space a coupe of times and the pressing Enter, with no luck. I've tried using the manual that someone linked to, with no success either. I've checked all the advices given in this thread with no success, also, for instance passing the setup in install.exe, and running the game in both Sensible and Soc mode. I can't find the soc_k "thing" either.

Now, please could somebody help me? Eventually give me a link to a cracked version of the game or something like that!, or just a working version sent to me via email.

Please. :help:

I'd personally prefer a manager/gm type of deal when it comes to pc sports gaming... Does this game offer that mode? If not, heck, I'll try it out anyway! I just rather have like a console kinda controller when playing games like this personally even though it is quite outdated. It doesn't look bad..though I've seen worse LOL

So, none cares for a remake/sequel of the original game? Even when Codemasters are behind it? I think it can be an excellent game, though because I have never played the game on a PC I don't know how the controls will be. I have only played the game on an Atari ST and on Amiga with the digital joysticks of the time.

Yeah I remember goal..didn't it come after 'Kick off' though? I think Dino Dini did Kick Off 1 and 2 and then went and did Goal. Oh and then they made Kick Off 3 without him.. that was good.. it had bugs, but it was good very fifa ish.

I remember in Goal there was a bug where if you had a man sent off... you could substitute him.. so you still had 11 players.. haha

There seems to be a problem with the controls in the versions of SWOS I have played. When a player that I control is running from the top of the screen towards the bottom I can't make the player shoot diagonally. However, if I run in the opposite direction, i.e. from the bottom of the screen towards the top then I can shoot diagonally.

Any ideas why I cannot shoot diagonally when running towards the bottom of the screen?

Thx

Hihi... I remember this problem well... ^_^

My bro and me were playing Sensible Soccer those days on the Amiga. We used to differentiate between Soccer games where the ball "sticks" to the player and those where this wasn't the case.

Playing sensible soccer is a game where the ball doesn't stick. So you lose the ball when you stop running. You probably play it with the keyboard so you may find it more difficult to shoot diagonally. Having a joystick this becomes much easier.

Be sure it's about your skill and possibility. ^_^ Train it.

I loaded the correct drive as the tutorial said with me it's F: for the cdrom drive.

why cant DosBox read my CD Rom drive? i actually own ther game but i think it would run better in dosbox if you guys can help me.

Good ole SensiSoc.... Got so excited to find it on the web - and also a bit depressed realising that i am getting old :) - but when i tried to run it, i got a "not enough memory available. Cant remember what setting though and I cant really wait till Monday to ask!!

Yes, there are stickies to help you, you could begin with reading them, as is:
>A beginner's guide to DosBox< (http://www.abandonia.com/vbullet/showthread.php?&t=14406)

Other possibility: type INTRO @ the dosbox prompt, but reading your post chances are slim that you gonna get running things that way..... I think.

Hi!

żCan anyone play this game with a Gamepad?

I use DosBox v0.74. My gamepad runs well on other games, but in this one only the fire button works.

I set my gamepad in sensible soccer config (setup.exe), works, but when I play the game only fire button works :(

In the config file, set
buttonwrap=false
Then when you run DOSBox, CTRL+F1 to open the mapper - you'll be able to map the gamepad to any buttons you like (rather useful for a few games with odd control schemes).

There was another version of this game that had all teams in the world and insetad of world championship qualifiers there was world championship. There were also some additioanl teams there with made up names. it would be good if you could put that one on the site as well.

i see the next verison is marked as world of sensible soccer, but i think there should be one more before that one.

and speaking of World of soccer this line form reviewer made me laugh... :-D
You can rest assured that Sensible World of Soccer is the greatest soccer game ever made. Consequently, it has been released to every platform available.

gregor

i was right. there really ais another version. this one on the site has some major bugs.

1. when player is replaced the one on the field doesn't keep the number of the backup rather is simply changes to one of player's numbers that are already on the field. e.g. no. 16 replaces no. 6 on the field. he suddenly becomes no. 8. kind of confusing.

2. i once finished the game and a player had a red card marked (as in 2 yellow cards). now i didn't get any yellow during the game. still this player had a red card for the next 5 (!) games.

addditionally this version here has no world teams and no world championships but the other one has. at least the ones that were on WC at the time. and world championship there can be quite tough (unless you're brazil :-)). the issue is that the judges are really strict there and not afraid of using the red.

i still can't remember how to exit the game propperly. i think it was soem combo (alt+esc or Alt+ctrl+esc) that doesn't work now due to dosbox/windows commands.
