My favourite movie remains, Blade Runner.

Favourite band? Hmm, I guess The B-52's, or Yellow, or Roxette.

Favourite single music artist, in terms of just number of cds and frequency of listening to him/her, then Eminem, with Frank Sinatra second.

Prolly what they call it where he lives.
:D

Movie: 2001
Music: Chuck Berry
Book: Hamlet

Here's a little something that people discovered about A Clockwork Orange.
Nah, it wasn't the people who were committing violent acts, it was a sudden outburst of the juxtaposition bourgeise of the Neo-McCarythein Nazi Annihilists (NMNA) who burst into theatres everywhere gunning down thousands of innocent people and then destroying the rest of the theatre using their robotic Mecha-Hitler.

So the government covered up that fact with the supposition that the movie drove people to violence.
Here's CNN's online article if you don't believe me:

Film: Sherlock, Jr. - Buster Keaton was a bloody genius. That film had awesome stunts for its time. Alternatively
Sherlock Holmes und das Halsband des Todes - a German production starring Christopher Lee with a fake nose (yes, I'm serious). It's so outrageously bad it's brilliant.:D
Music: Bach, violin concerto in A-minor - I used to play that one and I still know passages by heart...
Book: You're not seriously expecting me to answer that one, are you?;)

Movie: The Nightmare Before Christmas, definitly. I also like Edward Scissorhands a lot.

Actor/ess in this film: I'm gonna have to say Johnny Depp. I really like his characters, and the fact that he works a lot with Tim Burton and Danny Elfman doesn't hurt ;)

Bands/performers: So many of them... Right now: Blur, Gorillaz, Sigur Rós, Jamiroquai, Alice Cooper, etc etc

Album: Takk

No offence, but the movie freaking sucked. I'm a FF fan, know all that sh1t, and I hated it.

Unless you're talking about graphics, but that's so... shallow?

I agree with that. I won't bother posting anything else other than "Darren Aronofsky".

Yea, FF:AC was, well, it was like the 2nd and third Matrix... fell to that kind of problem... too much "that looked cool" and not enough "decent writing and storyline".

I just saw Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, excellent. But I'd have to say either Batman Begins or Sin City for my favourite movie.

Overall I'd have to say my favourite band is Pennywise. I just got their latest album but Full Circle is easily their best album.

And I'd just like to say Danny Elfman's work on Charlie and the Chocolate Factory was fantastic.

Has it occured to you that unless you speak fluent Japanese, you wont be able to get the exact words, as translations are generaly pretty rubbish,

I got the general ideas, and well, the plot just doesn't cut it. I'll give it credit though, it's very, very, very japanese, which is to be expected (and the visuals are amazing, but that's just one facet of a film). The translations and subs I got were generally pretty good, I didn't get the footloose grammar I was expecting, and got the ideas they were trying to convey, but, c'mon, the storyline itself was almost embarassing to watch at points.

I love the series. I have the special boxset dvds for the first 6 movies. Excellent value.
I was scared with them when I was a child and first shaw them back in 1984+. My favourite was the third one where the "kids" got to have some special powers to fight back.

Night of the living dead is the best horror movie ever, I'm sorry but its true, and its amazing how Romero made such a huge hit with such little budget, all the people in it are personal friends or people that wanted to help out for fun :)

Why No I haven't, I've read the book though, and I must say NOTD is the best still, the reason why I like NOTD better because it keeps scarry through suspense and atmosphere, not gore, and you have to take into account that before NOTD the whole zombie film genre hadn't been developed, NOTD did for movies what LOTR and Dune did for books.

It was 4, right?

Tell you what though, the scene in the first one where Freddy is walking in the "alley" and has his arms stretched and his fingers reach the walls, that scared me a lot as a kid, when I saw it again last year I couldn't believe how fake it looked.

Still, they still have some genuinly scary moments.

BTW, there was one movie where an army? small unit went for excercises with fake ammo somewhere in the american south and after a fog, soldiers from old battles (I think from the civil war) rose as zombies and attacked them. There was also something about a beautiful woman in white and a house involved somehow. Has anyone of you seen this and know what I am talking about? I am trying to get the title for it since the last time I saw it (I think 1989).

I remember when I watched House On Haunted Hill.
When they're tapping on walls, and all of a sudden that old lady appears and glides across the screen, freaky.

I was about 6, and screamed myself hoarse.
Schindler's List was just filled with moments, so I really can't specify any, but that film was excellent.

As for The Shining, the movie is incredibly different from the book.
I saw both Night and The Shining, and being a huge Romero fan, I found Shining to be a much better film.
Oh, and saying Night is the best horror film, and then forgetting classics like Alien is unforgivable, although a good film, Night doesn't stand up to those, even with it's low budget in consideration.

moogle
14-11-2005, 11:36 PM
Alien is suspense, not a horror film, and if you talk about no budget then that works against Alien now, Alien, by todays standards is extremely corny, I meen, its just not scarry anymore, its all been talked about to death, "the movie where the alien busts through that guys chest? Oh ya, I've seen it" I mean its a good film, but NOTD is betttttter, the shovel scene>the chest scene. Personally I found Aliens much better than Alien....
Damn you Titanic, release James Cameron!!!!
And they should have kept the mallet, not an axe...
And I think the ending in the book is much better than the one in the movie...

Dude, no.
(haha I copied you!)
I personally don't classify it as horror, although I guess technically it is, to me its just not scarry! And as for the parisite part, the same could be said for NOTD, Romer actually said that (in Bravos top 100 scariest movie moments) that the whole point of NOTD is that it shows how society devours the old and outdated. (And for the record Jaws is not the top 1 scariest movie, nuh uh). And yes, back when it came out, in theatres, Alien was scarry as hell, but if were doing it by todays standards its not. I mean, everbody knows about it, have you ever met one person who hasn't at least heard of it? The same could be said for NOTD, but unlike Alien, NOTD has more scarry scenes, theres the shovel scene, the scene where they eat the organs (eeeep) and the famous "Theyr coming for you Barbra...". Plus, in my opinion NOTD is much more deep and invloving, you feel a lot more for the characters, i Alien yes you feel for her too, but not as much, close, but not as much. In NOTD you have the main character you have Ben the black dude whos in this house, surrounded by zombies with a host of other unreliable characters, the girl is braindead, the one man who is helpful (the teenager) dies, the one man with his wife and the girl trys to betray him out of his own fear several times. And the ending in NOTD is SUPERB, I won't give it away but its one of the few endings that has made me go "oh *meep*". And btw, are you talking about the original NOTD or the aniversary edition withe extended content? And lets not forget, The NOTD series has kept on being good, unlike the alien series where it basically fades after Aliens...
