ESA's have been popping up all over the place, and yet other sites have the same games for d/l - why all the sudden attention onto Abandonia? I was grabbing games yesterday, and today some are und/lable due to the EDA. Wonder what happened?
This isnt an ESA bashing thread, ive just never heard of them before.

We recived an Email from them with a request to remove software by theire members.
As we'r not a warez/pirate-site, we respected theire wishes, and removed it.
The companies and theire games, is NOT in any gray area.. it's plainly illigal.
Abandonias intention is NOT to break any laws, or offend anyone, so the choise was easy.

But you are breaking laws, because it is illegal, :D .
The ESA are nice, but their purpose doesn't lie around protecting certain company's rights. They mostly keep the companies you and I love afloat.

*coughs* Are you taking the piss?
That's the whole point of the ESA, other than running E3 and trying to convince America that games aren't evil/the tools of Satan.

Taking the piss?
Stupid?
You know, I just wanted someone who's never heard of them before to understand that they aren't just here to look over Abandonware websites like some sort of tyranical overlord.

Sorry for the slow reply was out of town for a few days - the reason i asked, was because i found the same games on (many) different old games sites - still up. Which kinda confused me at first, but now im just thinking they are either risking their behind's, or the company didnt/hasnt contacted them.

They'd be warez sites technically.

They either have permission to host them (this is the case with a fair number of things on HotU, for example) or the ESA hasn't noticed them yet.
@efthimios: Not that I'm aware of, Titan was referring to the ESA communication we had several months ago - as far as we know there aren't any ESA titles on the site for download any more, though this was the case beforehand and it turned out we'd been hosting some without realising they were ESA protected.

This is a warez site, techincally. Anyway, they might have permission from the companies.
