Well, ever since Reup or someone in the Fith Horseman's thread in this forum mentioned a Warcraft thing I thought hmm... Now there's an idea. So I've made one after spending a couple of hours on making a map without bases. That would be just silly to show you were the bases are.

It goes like this. I'm going to be captain of the Red team. Which means I'll be playing as myself. The other teams will be computer players. There will be a captain of each team and five other team mates. If there's more wanting to play we'll wait until there's enough for one to go on each team making six team mates. The captains of each team need to decide whether they're human or orc race.

I'm taking screenshots but I'm unsure of one thing. Should I use the show whole of map cheat to show you what all teams are doing? Please put your suggestions in the thread. But now we're using Starcraft we'll use replay mode.

You can submit your own maps if you want. As long as there's eight teams. (seven computer and one normal player.) And all teams start with the same supplies (e.g. 4 peasants) If you're making a map you should PM me a small thumbnail like the map at the bottom, with just land and sea. No landmarks or players. No trees or anything.

But it's now been changed to Starcraft because of the high behind kicking of the game compared to Warcraft II. Click here (http://www.battle.net/scc/) for details on the different races. And as a new feature you may choose a hero. I'll design a webpage with all of them in. but for now be patient.

can you explain this concept again? if we aren't players (computers are) and aren't charecters (there are only peasants on that map), then how are we related to this mess.
allso, wasn't there some way to record games in WC? or is that only in 3?

@a1s: The computer players although you start out with four peasents the computer will most likely get one to build a town hall then another will collect gold, another cut trees and another to build a farm. I don't know if that's what the computer will decide but that's what I do. There's a non-computer player because you can't play all computer player. It'd also be fun to see who wins. If by record yo mean save you can do that in Warcraft II. Can you think of a better way to work this out?

I would understand how this system would work if you gave computer players peoples names, but you are recruiting teams! how does a team work together? why is it formed? what do individual players do? can you find some alternative ai files for the computer player? what if we submit them? (no, I don't have one on hand, I'm just asking). and so on and so forth.

no. I belive the proper term is "replay", that is when you have all the actions of all players recorded in a file and you can make the game reproduce them on screen.

@a1s: So do you suggest that we have one person playing as each team? I'm unsure on how players contribute. I only made members so it would be fair that everyone could play. And also I ask again: Do you have a better system?

No, there's no replay option.

Mmm, I think I'll try and help you guys out and try to explain what Bobbin might be doing.

I think he's making us each a team, and having each of us on a certain team, then the different teams will battle it out via a map, he'll be leading a team himself, so that he can actually make the game.
I think doing this he can kind of make a score system or something that keeps track of which games are winning.
This could be much more easily done if he uses Warcraft 3, but I'll leave him with his decisions.

A good idea would be to add some spice in here, assign us each a hero for each player, then slap them into battle, I understand the map editor won't let you change the units, but there's enough if you have Through The Black Portal too.
Ex. give someone Deathwing, and then someone else Khadgar.

@Bobbin: If you do this, you MUST give me Deathwing!

Or, he can switch it around for another suggestion.

There's a territory map. Okay? Here's a very sketchy example.

So as you can see, each team now has a territory on this map, (I didn't use all of them) Blue has one, red has one, and white has one.
Now there'll be a slow process, one person and ONLY one person will post his next command (i.e. take over the other territory) after Bobbin plays it out, then the next person can choose what to do.
Battles will be handled like this, unconquered territories (The brown ones) will only have small camps of troops and trolls, making the maps will be easy, as the map editor is fast and perfect.
Once Bobbin plays it out, and your team wins, you get the territory.

So here Bobbin played out the map, and it turns out your team won, so that territory became yours.
You can dispatch certain "squads" example, Bobbin is the leader, and he dispatches squad "Blood-Pigggy" to attack a certain territory, my troops that I have attack that area. Troops could be handled by keeping score, if I have 10 Grunts, Bobbin will put down that I have 10 Grunts, and next game, that'll be my army.
Bobbin records this, and people take turns this way.
When you fight another team, they'll be enforced with whatever they have, this will make it far more balanced, as attack a weak and unready team will lever the advantages over and over.

Of course, this is a suggestion, and Bobbin holds the rights to his games.

Ok, I added everyone that wanted to be in while I was gone. Hope I left no one out.

Pig, I wold use Warcraft III if it ran on my system, but alas it does not. Maybe when I get a new computer I'll playit with that. Yes, I do have Warcraft III. I'm not too keen on that territory idea but the heroes thing's a good idea. I'll check to see how many heroes there are. Yes, there is a scoring system. At the end of each round you get a status thing for each team giving them amount of gold, lumber, oil and such. I'm only going to add the scores up as the teams rank is resetted at the start of every match (except in campaign mode).

Umm... Where do you put the heroes in for map editor?

you know, I was thinking (as we haven't started yet), maybe we could youse starcraft? it has:

1)a lot more varied races (orcs differed from humans mainly in the spells their mages cast), not to mention 3 of them.

2)lots of heros (warcratft had something like 6 or 8, starcraft has them for evey unit)

3)powerfull scripting system (allthough I don't have any concrete Ideas,open source and moding scenes show that there's nothing people won't do if you give them the proper tools.)

4)remember replays? guess which game does have them? (not only will you be able to play without cheating, but allso study each teams actions in detail.)

I'm sure there's more advantages (and a few dissadvantages too).

I knew I forgot to write something in my previous post. I'd play Starcraft but I've got no idea where my CD is And I don't wanna pirate it.

1) Only one more race than Warcraft.
2) I still can find the heroes thing in Map Editor.
3) I hope if I find it it'll run on this PC.

Another good side. If you use a cheat in Starcraft e.g. Build faster. Every player can build faster.

I'll see if I lent it to someone tonight but never gave it back to me. Hope I find it. Does Starcraft use the same map format? *.pud? There's a Diablo mission in Starcraft. If I find it I'll switch it to Starcraft. But for now we can keep signing up for Warcraft. If I find it the team captains can change their race. Same colours in their map editior I believe.

SC maps are .scx I think, certainly for the add-on. You can get it cheap on budget with Brood War fairly easily; that's where I got mine the other week.

P.S. I suggest you create your own maps, if you really wanna make a great map for these games AND have more units to play around with, go find the Xtra editor for Starcraft.

@Sup: Before I even run STARCRAFT.EXE I'm going to patch it. The Terran Civilian is classed as a hero in the Starcraft Map Editor. Does it attack? I've not played this in ages. When you save the replay will it save it as an executable or some special Starcraft format? (e.g. Replay1.scr)

@Pigggy: I will try to get my own maps done. If I can't I'll choose one of the pre-made ones. But you guys can give me maps you've made.

Nope, civilians are as good as those neutral creatures that roam the maps.

And the replays are a special Starcraft format, but I have it installed so no problem for me.

You might wanna look into editing the thread title ;)

I've tried. Once it's there. It stays. Oh, I can't install the latest patch because I'm running it through DAEMON. But I've got the latest I can get. I can still save replays. When I've played a match I'll upload a reply and do the screenshot thing of what happened because not everyone here has Starcraft. Unless there's some free application that reads replay files.

Starcraft is a cool real-time strategy made by Blizzard in the year 1998. Blizzard also made legendary Warcraft and Diablo series.

Blizzard is a story about conflicts, terror and war between three races: Terrans (A human race), Zerg (A alien race) and Protoss (Techno alien race).

Ok, that just leaves Fawful. Then we can... attack!!! Oh, Sebbe. Choose your character. Since our teams is the technically advanced Protoss (our buildings have shields and can build without occupiing a peasant) you can only choose a Protoss hero. But it can't be Zeratul or Danimoth. On the first post is a list of heroes with links to see what armour level, range, air shots, ground shots ad special attacks they can do. Pretty nifty. I'd say a Wraith is the best Terran unit as, they're fast, can ghost themselves to be invisible, have decent ground and air attack.

Yes, but they were created by the alien race: Xel Naga(They also created the protoss).

Start with: heroes, four workers (SCV's, Probes, Drones)

Shouldnt you add more drones for the zerg? Drones are needed to transform into buildings.

Overlords are like supply depots.

Every team has advantages and disadvantages. e.g An advantage for Zerg is that they can grow zerglings and you get two. But when you train marines or zealots you only get one. Also the Protoss only have to choose where to build. Then your probe is no longer occupied by creating a structure. It'll just get warped. I should probably change the supplies you get at the start. You probably won't have enough to build a Town Hall (as warcraft would say).

would love to get involved, but im doin 55 hour weeks at work for the moment starcraft is by far the best rts ever (imo).

No, you cannot do that. That would just ruin the whole game. However, I will recruit you as you must be in Quint's team because that's the only team that has chosen Zerg as their race. If you don't wanna be recruited, just tell me and I'll pull you out of it. I do agree that it's an excellent RTS game though.

Yes, the program above is a program to view Starcraft replays if you don't own a copy of Starcraft. People that have SC can just go onto their SC ID and select load replay when the file is in the Starcraft\maps\replays folder.

@Pigggy: Remember, pig. You've gotta pick a new hero unless your name wants to be TheChosen too. TC chose first so it's only fair. The heroes on the first page are the AVALIABLE heroes. Not the only ones.

I know. I'm getting you to guard the base 'til we attack. At the start I'll (Danimoth) will be scouting around the area. In case others are amart and go straight in for the kill with their units. But here's some trivia:

FORCE1:
Team 1 (me)

FORCE2:
Team 2
Team 3

FORCE3:
Team 4
Team 5

FORCE 4:
Team 6
Team 7
Team 8

This means that Force 3 will mainly attack forces 1, 2 and 4. Force 4 attacks forces 3, 2 and 1. etc. So Force 4 will kill force 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 first then attack each other.
