How about Unreal World. Its a finnish RPG,where you have to survive in the nature.

URW is a great game (I really liked that bit about being able to build saunas which serve no particular purpose except to remind you it's a Finnish game.:D ), but it isn't abandoned. Sami Maraanen's (spelling?) website (http://www.jmp.fi/~smaarane/urw.html) still has the link to register the demo version, and there was a new version of it only last year...
It's well worth the money, though. The graphics aren't remarkable, but the game is very nice.

Oh yeah, it's worth the money. I think it's the only shareware game I have ever registered. And I haven't regretted it for a second.
