Here I found in Internet these two progs and decided to share. One is the generator of dices used in AD&D games (you know, 1d3, 1d6 and so on), and second is name generator. Last one helped me much in naming persons in my new fantasy story I'm writing.

That's the dice gen.

And here's the name generator.

Maybe someone find these progs useful!

I like that Name generator! :ok:

But why didn't you post these programs in the "programming" section?

How I understand you... :)
I didn't try to ask the same in our shops. I'll look for those dices anyway. I wonder, what faces will the sellers have, when I ask, if they have 100 sided dice for sale! :D

I thought, that programming section is intended for people's programms they wrote themselves. Besides, most people go in "Blah..." first.

I thought this was going to be scopes and bolt-on hammer and sickles, but I'm pleasantly surprised.

Used underw... :P well, ten-sided dice, of course. They're not all that uncommon, are they? Off the top of my head I can think of at least five shops or toy departments where I could buy them, and I live in a fairly small town.

You're lucky! Those things are becoming artefacts, so years will pass and young people of next generation will be shocked, if we tell them, that in our time of youth people played RPGs on paper.

Toxik
09-09-2005, 09:35 PM
uh..a d100?!you shocked me.how does it look like, because i never haerd of such thing.we always used 2 d10 rolls for percentual rolls

trust me,in here you want a dice different than d6 you need to find a hobby shop or order some on the net

Aristharus
09-09-2005, 09:47 PM
There it is. :)

An extremely useless thing as it's almost round which means it keeps on rolling and rolling. It's much quicker to throw a pair of D10's..

Cool! Nice dice!

I also have some sort of 100d dice, but it does have numbers 00,10,20,30,40,50,60,70,80 and 90.

I though d100 were 10 sided dice with the 10,20,30 etc but holy crap that looks more like a ball with numbers

Aristharus
10-09-2005, 06:05 PM
The 10-sided dice with even tens are technically D10s. That D100 isn't an exact ball, but pretty close to it. It really does have a hundred numbered sides.

Toxik
10-09-2005, 06:29 PM
i once had a round dice.it was ordinary d6,it was hollow and inside was another ball, made of metal so the dice will stop

Aristharus
10-09-2005, 06:53 PM
I've seen those. I've also seen an electric die. It was this ball that had a small screen on it. It was activated by throwing it, the rolling activated it and then the small screen flashed with random numbers from 1 to 6, and when the die stopped rolling, the changing numbers stopped on some random number.

Now isn't that useful or what? :bleh:

Nick
10-09-2005, 07:16 PM
...
As for me, I didn't even recognize numbers on that 1d100 photo Aristharus posted. Only something ball-liked. Quality is quite bad, I must say.

Aristharus

I took it with my cell phone. The camera isn't too good and I thought you'd get the idea even if the pic would be a bit blurry. I can try and take a clearer pic, though.

EDIT: Doesn't look like it. Can't get a clearer picture from any distance with that camera. But I think you can imagine the rest. The black blurs are the numbers, of course.

Wow! That's cool stuff you got there! :ok:
Look like you're seasoned pen and paper RPG player.

I actually don't even play very much. I have played occasionally and GM'd one (just a two-scenario) campaign and I have made some small campaigns that I've planned to GM sometime, but still I'm really just a beginner. My brother has played for a very long time and most of those dice I've gotten from him, that's probably why I have so much of them. And that pile doesn't have my all D10s and D20s as they're being used as level markers in my Munchkin card game. :)

At the moment my plans for rpg:ing have come to a stop because one of the regular players is in the army. And he's training to get to the air force, which would mean he won't be playing with us much for the next couple of decades.

Just playing with friends. I haven't even thought of joining some group of unknown people. There's too many ways to play pen and paper RPGs. Some people prefer very much roleplaying, some very much action and there's many possibilities between those. Some like very long, detailed descriptions of every little thing they do, some want to keep simple things simple.

I just think it'll be better for me to stick to playing with my buddies. I'll just have to find someone to replace this one guy who's in the army. And I know a couple of people that are interested, I've just been too lazy to get the group together and especially to finish and polish up my campaign. :)

I see. When I was young (12 or maybe early years old), I often saw, when oldest folks play in unknown game for me(on that time). They were throwing terms, such as "Paladin" and so on, which I couldn't understand. Just recent I realized, that it was most probably kind of D&D pen and paper RPG game.
Do you play D&D with your friends? Do you use any books (Monsters Manual, D&D manual e.t.c)? What version of D&D Manual you use as basic?
For me, I didn't ever played in pen and paper RPG, but I would like to. So I may mistake in my terms in questions below.

I don't play D&D, the books are too expensive. Would like to, though.

Mostly I play WFRP (Warhammer Fantasy Roleplaying Game) and I just bought a Call of Cthulhu D20 book. A friend of mine has an RPG book called Praedor (It's finnish and in Finnish. But to anyone who knows the language, I strongly recommend it, a great system!) and I've played that with him and other friends.

I have played D&D twice (that's two nights of playing only), I was replacing a guy in my brothers' and their friends' game as he couldn't play for two weeks and they thought they wouldn't make it with the smaller party. I had a character of my own of course, with good story on why he joined the party and why he left after a couple of days. And of course a story also for why the other character wasn't with them that time.

My brothers' group's GM has the newest D&D Manuals (and much more, he collect's RPG books. He hasn't even played every one he has!)

Well.. No, not really.

I'm not good at explaining such things, but there's some info about it for example in Board Game Geek (http://www.boardgamegeek.com/game/1927).
