Inspired by the darkbasic topic I thought maybe I could find some people here who want to help us because....

We (wildman productions) are planning on making a populous: the beginning remake featuring a story that continues the story of pop:tb pop:uw and pop:aoc. The new name will be Populous: Tribal Conquest and the project is now running for 3 months already.

We currently are in need of 2d & 3d artists (and a flash animator), voice actors (female & male), (learning) (darkbasic) programmers, and probably other staff.

For more info: http://www.poptc.tk/

If you wanna help us, just pm me and you'll get more info on what to do next!

Hehe, it keeps showing this image of a black guy holding up some paper.

Seems you can't show images to outside sites.

Use Imageshack.us instead.

They still don't work... reload the images to photobucket or imageshack.com

Got the same problem under Opera and IE, but it works fine under Firefox (just like Imageshack pics, btw. I get that yellow frog all the time in Opera, but barely never in FF)

If you've got the domain why not host them yourselves?

funpic.org is a free webhost where the poptc site is temporarely uploaded, not an image upload site... We're trying to get poptc.populous.net, although it won't be easy because EA is still keeping populous.net, and otherwise we'll get webspace (even for the game itself) at poptc.chaoticgaming.net which won't have these problems.

Aside from that, both the title pic and the shaman pic look great. The in-game screenshot doesn't show much yet, so can't really say much 'bout that yet.

Btw, will this remake have more intuitive controls and a more extensive in-game help than the original? I don't know what some buttons do in the originals, nor did they do anything, anyways. Not to mention that having to switch between that button-panel and the gameworld slowed actions down considerably.

Uh... you ever played populous 3d? I thought the controls were very intuitive... But whatever we're not that far yet. Currently our programmers are busy with a landscape engine, allowing displacements and matrixes + water etc, and allowing to edit the landscape with the mouse. After that, units will follow. And I hope progress will go faster then.

LOL I dunno if there's gonna be accents like that, since they all speak their native language which we probably can't understand. Voice auditions are coming soon. We'll have some text to speak for everyone and people can record and send that to us, and we'll pick out the best! I'll inform you of that later :)

Methinks Tiki was referring to the first 2 Populous games, which did have ridiculously clunky controls considering the pace of the game. He seems to have missed that this is a remake of Populous: The Beginning, the 3D sequel with the smaller numbers of units and more of a story.

There's a Populous besides the ancient two? I thought that was called Black & White...

No that came some time after The Beginning (which is quite good actually)

Check out google for more info (http://www.google.nl/search?q=populous+the+beginning&hl=nl&hs=f5s&lr=&client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla:nl-NL:official_s&start=10&sa=N)

Black and White was made by the same programmer as populous 3 (peter molineux), but populous 3 was really another game and was released in 1998.

Populous 3 is still alive and we still play it online using the new matchmaker available here (http://www.strategyplanet.com/populous/)!
