Sup guys. I am currently making a tactical-RPG, using QBasic. It will have limited graphics and sprites, a top down view, and tactical combat. Here is a list of features I intend to impliment:
- Combat will have obstacles and range will affect accuracy.
- Skill system based off of D&D, ie Rank based.
- Complicated health system: Hit locations, fatigue, vitality, etc.
- Complicated armor and damage system. Armor will have different values for different damage types, such as Melee damage, Subdual damage, chemical damage, etc.
- When not fighting, you will walk around on a map, movie from one screen to the next.
More to come soon. I just started this not too long ago, so it won't be done for awhile. Plus, I've got school, so...
Anyways, anyone interested in testing when I get something worthwhile done?
PS: How do I take screen shots, so I can post?

I tried that, but no go with QBasic, for some reason. Anyone out there with experience with this program?

't Sounds promising :) As for the screenshots... have you tried running the game under Dosbox and pressing Ctrl-F5?

I'm with you for the testing.
For capturing screens, try using DOSBox.

I'll give Dos Box a try. Now, any suggestions from anyone? The time perios will between modern and near future, so I need some ideas for equipment. Also, I'm not sure with the storyline yet, but it'll be something akin to Doom :)

me and my friend did a crapload of superhero powers and ablities for a planned pc RPG which never took shape (like the implosive decompression and R2D2 movie ideas) I might dig it up..

Hmmmm I would not use Qbasic to make a game as it's old, you should go learn a better and more powerful programming language like C \ C++.
Good luck :ok:

I've seen quite some amazing things that're made in Qbasic. It's pretty powerful if you're good with it. If he's got the skills for it in Qbasic, but doesn't know C/C++ (C's just as old, btw, and 'bout as powerful), it's actually less efficient if he'd have to learn to do what he can do in a language he already knows.

Chickenman, shut up. Just shut up, stop moaning on about others and actually MAKE something for once. I must say, a program that accepts a number from a user and can write some stuff to a file isn't so amazing.

Hey, I wrote the part where it writes stuff to a file. Actually, the thing I wrote for him, was a program that'd check whether a file existed, and if it does, it'd read and display its contents, and otherwise, ask the user what to put in the file, line per line. Doesn't sound like much of that program you mentioned's his code :bleh:

LOL. chickenman can't even write to a file.. hehe. Well, maybe he should stop moaning about other people's programs and actually make one of his 2 rpgs, his 2 3d games or his 200 thousand utilities he's meant to be doing.

@ Punch & Danny
My coding skills are far better than yours and Danny if you think you can code so good why don't YOU make some thing.

Back on-topic now. 't Is just getting into a mockery, which isn't exactly what we want, now is it. So, back on topic.
