View Full Version : Game Maker
Hey guys, check this out: http://www.gamemaker.nl/
It's a program for making games, but have a look at their created games section. There are some interesting games there.

I use gamemaker a lot. Actually, I've been a member of the gamemaker community for over a year and I compose for a lot of games. It's a really hard program to get into because of the programming involved, so I'd suggest you start with an easier program like RPG Maker 2k3 or RPG Maker XP which came out in English a few days ago.
Have you created any games yet?

I'm working on two games right now, they're joke games for my friends but they're called "Sarah Plain and Tall II: Diggity Goes to Mexico" and "Get TSG Laid", which is going to be sort of like the Leisure Suit Larry games. They're both joke games that I don't ever intend on making any good, but I don't make too many games because I'm primarilly a composer and not a programer. One AWESOME game that's coming out soon that is going to completely blow away every other amateur game that's ever been made is called Nightside Wallflower. You can find out about it in the link below. It's for RM2k3 and it looks just amazing.
Another website that I'm at is working on a gamemaker game, I'm composing for it. It probably won't be too good though =P
Anyway, the link below leads to some info on that awesome game that's being made.

Yeah, I've used Gamemaker a little before, I jumped in at the deep end a bit though by trying to make a very complex game while drawing all my own backgrounds, characters etc. So now I am working on a less complex game.

Just to plug another engine, just look at my sig. It's very nice if you want to make your own adventure games. Quite flexible, and has a very good and helpful forum.
I've never used gamemaker, but I have heard stuff about it. I'm not sure if it was good or bad...

Yeah, my friend and I were working on an adventure game with that system. We were both doing music for it.

wow, one of the games I played... 5 Days Later, was made with adventure game studio. The guy who mdade it also made an awsome Duke 3d mod called Age of Evil, had its own funny one liners.

why not use it to make a 3D half-mario half-zelda game
you can make 3D games with it
but that would also be super hard to do B)

Hey where did my sig go... Hmm. I'll have to fix that.
Hey its Fawfulhasfury. I've seen you around at AGS too. You have good art from what I've seen.

I removed it for violation of the new sig rules. Read you PM's. The rules have since changed so I will allow it for now (unless someone find it offensive).

Oh cool. I don't think it is all that offensive, and having links in sigs make sence imo, unless of course it is offensive.
But back on topic... I think I might check out Game Maker, it sounds interesting.

I thought I recognized that name
from what i have seen you could make an isometric mario - zelda game with AGS
I might look into this
if you could make your own mario-zelda fangame, I wonder if you could make an isometric game with Gamemaker

Yes, you can make most any type of game with Gamemaker as long as you can code it, although I'm not sure if it supports 3D graphics. I'll ask one of my friends. But from what I hear, Nintendo is cracking down on Mario and Zelda fangames now =P
