Is it abandonware already?

I could provide it, but i am not sure if it's abandoned.

it seems abandoned. i can't really find any site that is selling it. and it's probabyl not ESA protected either.

Is it any good? I tried Elite 2 but it was so riddled with bugs I gave up in the end, I seem to remember being able to land on planets though which was kind of nice, unless that is Elite 3?

:ot: in elite 2 i seem to meet only pirates when i travel to different starsystem i get more than 10 ships until i reach my destination..plus they do very weird maneuvers(going x thousands kms away..)is it normal?

Frontier (Elite 2) was great. Some solar systems are riddled with pirates so unless you've got some heavy armaments (take's a while to get) I would stick to safer areas. It also had some of the best in game music ever !!!

yes there is a lot of pirates indeed. by killing them you progress in rank fast.

However there are certain system which are safer and ok to travel in. there you will encounter none or very little pirates. such as Sol system for example.

Elite 3 has same or similar graphics as elite 2. you can land on planets and deploy mining maschines.

As for the combat it really is done too realistic. once you accelerate it's hard to make any manouvers. luckilly smaller ships make smaller wormholes and can come out of hyperspace closer to planets in the system.

When I got a little wealthier I always invested in fast missiles. That was easier than trying to shoot the pirates down. Also I trick I learned was that you could lock on to the pirate ship and turn on auto pilot. That way the navigational computer does the aiming :sneaky:

Or later on you can use turrets along with targeting system on huge cargo ships. They can shoot and attack you, but they can't do you any damage. you shield will be too strong to penetrate.

Elite 3 (aka Frontier: First Encounters) (1995) by GameTek, Inc.

Shareware

According to frontier.co.uk it's shareware (see Elite Club), it seems. They also plan on releasing the source code for fans to modify the game.

EDIT: "Elite Club has been put indefinitely on hold" according to their own site.

So now we can't add it on site. We have to wait.
Rejected.
