not entirly, the plug-in for your browser is free, the full version isn't

The READER is always free (it's a stand-alone program AND a browser plugin). Acrobat itself, which is used to create and edit PDF's is a commercial product.

though there are open source pdf creation tools out there - not as good as acrobat, but free.

She asked only for something to read PDF files with. I doubt she will have any need to create some.

The easiest and cheapest way might be to use OpenOffice, create or load any other text/document format there and just press the button explort to pdf. I have done this many times and it works.

You guys are hilarious. :tease:

She asked just for simple reader to open one of manuals, and you are debating Adobe Acrobat.

Tara,
if it takes way to long to open Adobe Acrobat Reader, then use this (http://www.foxitsoftware.com/pdf/rd_intro.php) program, which is much smaller in size and much faster. :ok:

That's what happens when a girl asks a question around here, especially if she puts a heart in the topic title!

It was a girl? I didn't notice that.
No, I think this is how gaming geeks answer questions about anything that they know something eh about. :D

Heh. Welcome to geekonia, the small section of geeks within abandonia...
This problem is pretty much solved. Also, most games come with a adobe acrobat reader on the cd nowadays, so if she plays something like the Sims2 or something she won't have to dl it. Or whatever game.
