I Have just unrarred a game called ZOOL from this site
Great i though its been years since i played it on my old Amiga--which died years ago

Listed below are the files

i have clicked on start.exe and this gives me a number of screens which thanks me for downloading the game---then nothing happens

i have tried clicking zool.exe this just gives me a small black screen for 1 second then nothing

Can someone help a total newbie

You shouldn't be clicking on anything. Just run it in DOSBox. Here's a nice tutorial which tells you how you set it up if you haven't done that already - you should, really, most of the games on Abandonia will work with DOSBox:
