Fine with me...I think we should all just upload lots of games and they can add whatever they want. =) As long as it's not too many atonce.

Well, it's only 640~ KB, so that would probably be no problem.

Not only do I have Skyroads X-Mas Edition but I have a lot of abandonded games that I used to play when I was real little, if youre interested in a game I can either up load it or tell you a link where you can download it, I've seen tons of old games so I will probably recognise it by name <_<

How many of them wherever you may be able to have seen, I bet you didn't encounter WarWizard there. :bleh:

Hey Freddy, can you please upload Skyroads X-mas edition to your directory on the net, so that I can download it, and of corse if you don't want I would be glad to make a review of it.

FreeFreddy

I can upload it, but only for short time. Kosta didn't want it to be put on the site, as there's already the default version available and no real need for just other graphics and perhaps levels. ;)
Expect it tomorrow then.

Thanx. This also means I spared my time since I don't have to review it. :bleh:

This is one of the best classic games... where'd the music go? I had a shareware version when I was 9 or 10 that had cool techno music.

I still have the version with music lurking somewhere in my harddrive. I am not sure if the problem is with this version or if the music just does not work on Windows XP, though.

About the music, if you've downloaded it here at Abandonia the music is turned off. Just go to options in the main menu en select the speaker...
Also, I got annoyed because there were allready starroads done (that i couldn't finish  )
For the people who also got annoyed, rename Skyroads.cfg
Anyway, this game rocks!!

I recall there was one road I didn't finish. Maybe that's the road you are talking about....and, no, it's not impossible.

A few interesting pieces of info on Skyroads:

1) Both Skyroads and Skyroads XMAS are now freeware and available for download from Bluemoon's official site - http://www.bluemoon.ee - along with the original "Skyroads", more commonly known as "Kosmonaut".

2) All versions of Skyroads come with music, but as was said, it doesn't work on XP, unless you use VDMS or DOSBOX, and even then it may be problematic (synchronization problems, slowdowns, etc).

3) All roads are possible and I have finished them all. I'm currently trying to find a site that would host my video walkthrough.

Well... the game is made in Estonia. Estonians made Skype and helped Swedish make Kazaa. I have heard we, Estonians, invented the P2P system.

But cool game!

Wow, I remember this game... I miss the music (I know it's in there, but my DOSBox is messed up - I can't figure out how to make ANYTHING run in it without sound stuttering and severe graphical lag - so I have to run it the plain Win98 way). But thanks to the kind person who uploaded it here, regardless. Ahh, memories... :)

Road 3 of "The Earth" took several tries to figure out, but after that it was just a matter of rhythm (and maintaining a certain speed). A lot of the jumps in this game rely on a good sense of rhythm (particularly Road 2 of "Druidia"). Maybe that is why the jump-bounce sound is like a drum? Miss the beat and you'll probably miss the platform, too.

Good game. Challenging. I would almost call this a puzzle game, but then it wouldn't make sense. It's a puzzle in the sense that you have to figure out how to get past all the obstacles. But there are also many solutions to each road. Fun for replay value, not just for nostalgia but also to see how many times you can consistently finish a particular road (hence those handy counters next to each Road in the menu ;) ).

Again, thanks! Abandonia brings back lots of welcome memories.

Well, the music works fine for me when running through DOSBox (http://dosbox.sourceforge.net). And I just gotta love the game :)

A note, it's also available from the creators' website www.bluemoon.ee ^^ And hehe, there were also Finns doing it, so this is one of the first good games coming (at least partly) from Finland ^^

Damn it, I fail it. :D Someone was first.
And I can also confirm, it's very possible to finish Druidia the 3rd. Also The Earth the 3rd is a possible one, though you have to bounce left 'n' right 'n' left 'n' right 'n'...

I never managed to finish Skyroads. I found the later levels too difficult. Probably it was only me, because I suck at games where you need to press keys precisely and at exactly the right time.

But the first half of the levels were a lot of fun :)

A remebr getting frustrated with an earlier level and then chosing the final one. Man it's impossible.

It means it's zipped. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ZIP_(file_format))
Also your question indicates that you'll have some reading to do:

For all who liked Skyroads (even if only a little) :

http://www.tastystatic.com/index.php

A fan made a freeware remake, called Tasty Static!

Gameplay is the same, although with the new slightly modernized uptempo music, spiffy 3D primitive graphics, and 54+ new levels it feels all new!

Enjoy!

(looks a bit dull on the picture, but its more fun than it looks! )

According to this vid, there is a switch to play in ega graphic. Does anyone know how to do this?

I don't know about any switch but if you're using DOSBox change the machine type DOSBox emulates to ega and the game will start in EGA mode.
