View Full Version : Joining 4Ham community

08-12-2003, 12:27 AM
I recently got an e-mail from the 4HAM Community (http://www.abandonware.co.uk/) webmaster, asking me if I want to use his forum as my own main forum. He would create a subsection for Abandonia, and then I would use that forum from now on. Since I cannot really decide what would be best, I think it would be fair if YOU voted out what seems like the most reasonable thing to do!
Thanks! :)

At the time of sending you the letter, I didn't realize you had your own forum or I probably wouldn't have even made the request. In any case, I think you've chosen the best way to handle the situation. I cast my vote, but the masses will decide this in the end :D

I'd join 4HAM if I were you :P

Whats wrong with our current forum? Its fast, reliable, and good enough. Ok, it would create publicity, but then we have the problems of potential firers, hackers and just unpleaseant guys.
just my negative way of thinking

ok, i would say stick with you're own forum.

4Ham is a good Forum in many ways but in all honesty as soon as you join the people vissiting there to talk about Abandonia will drift into the OT section and you will see a quite dramatic fall in Abandonia related Topics in you're own section. Disky is a great Guy, and i wont say a bad word about him but i cant realy say that joining 4Ham would be good for you guys at Abandonia. As a growing and bloody good site you shoudl realy keep thing closer to home so you can do and change what you need when you need to.

Well thats my thoughts on the subject anyhow.

Since the forum is still up after nearly two months I guess you made the choice of retaining your own forum. I couldn't agree more. Activity is nice but this is more of a place for a casual visit rather then a place to hang out.

Also I'm sure some people like smaller communities, at least I know I do. It's sometimes nice to be able to get to know the people on the boards and also it gives me a feeling a bit like being on the good ol' BBS's (points to anyone who knows what I'm talking about).

Man, those were the days ;)

I agree 8)

Its also nicer when you actually get to know your visitors, than just have a bunch of unknown people whining about not being able to start game xyz

Thumbs up for Abandonia forum ppl!

Stick with the current forum Kosta! It makes no sense to have a bunch of unknown people talking on our forum! If u join 4ham, the topics will most surely drift from oldies to other non-sense.

BTW:Nice forum :D

As someone who ahs been moderator of quite a few forums I say:
smaller communities are better!

I remember once being an administrator of a big gaming forum (I left)
A small fight would begin about a tiny misunderstanding, isntantly bunches of me-too people would jump on the bandwagon of either side and begin a huge flamewar, any attempts to stop it were futile.
Banning created even more fury and eventually the forum was split up between two groups, all because of some pointless argument.
Thats when I left.

We could start whining too you know ;)

For the poll: stick with your current forum. it loads fast and it looks good.

This forum is nice. It would be sad to see the nice people in this forum to go lost in many other unknown people's names, so I say:
We should stay in this forum! (and it is growing anyway, every 1-2 days new registered member...)

30-06-2004, 01:15 PM
btw can't you do both the options? Keep this forum and have the other forum work as a redirect to this forum, this way you'll receive extra members from the other forum. :P

btw your poll options are kinda confusing, I suppose you mean with leave this forum as leave things as they are but leave this forum could also mean: dump this and move on to another place... 8)

You're right :)

I'll close this topic since I definitely don't intend to move the forum anywhere :) I like it just where it is :)
