Nice! :D
I already liked the first part, but this part is even better, and, it resembles Lands of Lore a little, looking the screenshots. I'm gonna play that.

In fact the whole series is not abandonware!!!

But many AW sites offer it and Westwood is dead. They don't offer technical support so I call it. ''abandoned''

FreeFreddy

Perhaps it's not abandoware at all, but we should be careful and be sure it is.

Where can I download EOB1,2 and 3 from. I downloaded 1&2 from here but I can't open them because they're not zip files or anything that my pc can recognise.

They're both .zip-files...
Perhaps you should download them again. And don't forget to disable any download-manager you might be using. ;)

Surf the net for an old game crack, like neverlock.

Edit: no sweat, I already did.
Here's a link: A Link (duh!) (http://funghus.nihilist.nl/pages/tools.php3)

Then copy it on harddrive, run it and then it's quite simple to use. B)

Wow! Fantastic site! Nice, smooth, and no crap. This is one of my hottest bookmarks. Keep it up guys!

Downloaded EOB II three days ago and now I've finished it. hehe I played it years ago and it felt so good to do it again and revisit the saga with new perspectives.

As to an earlier question:
Identifying objects can be done with the mage spell of 'Improved Identifyer'. That way you'll see their bonuses.

This game simply rocks! I remember when it first got out I was astonished by the graphics and gameplay!

I completed it twice, to do that u need the walkthrough, else you will go through half of the game just to realize that you are missing something in the 3rd level. Even with the walkthrough it's a huge task to complete it. The game features several levels of increasing difficulty and a wide range of enemies with different fighting teqniques and abilities.

TRY IT! you wont be dissappointed!.. keep in mind how old the game is when you see the intro and the actual game-graphics!

btw.,. does anyone know where I can find the walkthrough for this game. I can't find my own copy :'(

Hi All!

I know that most of you have cracked EOB-II on your own, but for all us non-experienced hex-editors, coudln't someone offer an already cracked EOB-II start file, or the actual codes?? Otherwise I'll never make it very far in this great game, from my young adulthood!! Wow, remember all those afternoons spent with the game! Awesome!

please, help me!!

This is fantastic. EOB2 is one of the finest RPGs I've ever played, and I've played a lot of them. For its day, it was simply outstanding, transcending the boundaries of mere "games" to instead be one of the deepest, most engrossing role-playing experiences of my life.

What I'd like to do now is play the audio files from the game on their own, in Winamp or Media Player or whatever. They have a .SND extension, but while Winamp does recognize the extension (through an external plugin that's supposed to play .SND and .AU files) it won't play them. Does anyone know how to get them to play in WinXP? I'd really like to hear them again?

Thanks.

@Guest & Sokratek

Download and install VDMSound (http://sourceforge.net/projects/vdmsound/) and you will be able to use the mouse & the sound will work. ;)

VDMSound is a modular, extendable soundcard (and other "legacy" hardware) emulator for MS Windows NT/2000 DOS boxes.

But is there some Winamp-style program that will play the game music so I can listen to it without having to play the game? That's what I'm really after.

I did grab VMDSound and it's perfect now. Spent the whole day playing. :)

Question- Can you carry your EOB1 characters to this game? I remember playing an old Forgotten Realms series that started with Pools of Radiance and allowed you to carry your guys over. That made me mark out to no end. ^^

Guest
26-04-2005, 07:50 PM
Yes you can transfer your old party.

SOme warnign though:

You only get to transfer 4 characters. Before your fight with the bib X in EOB I, decide which 4 you want and then transfer all the good stuff to them.

once you have done this, copy the file EOBDATA.SAV into the directory that EOB2 start.exe file is in.

happy beholding!

Hi all.
I just finished EoB I (wonderful game) and import the savegame on EoB II.
Then I play EoB II and I can't pass the protection.
Yeah, the same old problem...
But no.
The real problem is that I have the Manual of EoB II, in english, but the EoB I that I finished is in spanish, so is the EoB II.
Now I cant' find EoB II in english anywhere (and dunno if I can import the "spanish party" succesfully)
And I can't find the keywords for the spanish version of EoB II.
And I'm crying now, really, anyone could help me?
The part of "keywords in spanish version" is the better for me, cuz I already have EoB III in spanish too. The idea was finish the three games with the first four characters created.

Sorry for my barbarian use of the english language and may Guybrush be with you all.

Strobe
26-06-2005, 09:09 PM
i understand your problem, but i'm afraid we can't help you. see, we don't host any
part of the EYE OF THE BEHOLDER series anymore since we got into trouble with
the ESA. so i suppose, you will have to look for a suitable version elsewhere. sorry!

Semilla001
28-06-2005, 03:19 AM
Strobe, thank you. I understand.
I'll figure something someday.
This last weekend I "unearth" my box of vintage games and found the floppys of my EoB II, but there is no signs of the manual...
Anyway, there is plenty of old and good RPGs to play and enjoy.

Lots of less law abiding sites have both games available for download. Great game, my only complaint is that at the start you have to fight the clerics with no greater justification than they live in a dodgy sounding temple and look like a pair of used car salesmen / politicians. Spent ages trekking around those woods before I twigged. No pun intended. Well worth tracking down though.

EOB 2 is a great game! It was the first game I ever bought, back in 1992, It took me almost 5 years to complete.

I have since completed the game many times, with the same party!

I found a way of moving characters back and forth in the time line of the game, you can even duplicate some items, weapons and the like. Its very simple to do, you only need to use the "Write" program that comes with windows 3.1. I've got windows 98SE now but Wordpad does not work.

heres how you do it:

Save you game, then open that savegame in Write, most of the characters/letters will be boxes or some kind of ASCII code, however you will be able to find your game characters names, eg STUMPY, or MERLIN.

Find the name eg STUMPY, and highlight from the S of the name to say the M of Merlin, this data, is that particular character, his/her weapons skills exp etc, you can then cut and paste this character into the place of another character from a previous or even future game save slot.

I had a whole party, at the begining of the game, with all the powerfull weapons you aquire towards the end! I had more or less two of everything, 2 Talon swords 2 Slicer swords, duplicate sets of special armour. You can't bring back everything though, it doesn't work with the stone items, and you will have trouble bring back arrows, if you put them in the quiver, you'll have to use the backpack, it takes time to transfere enough, you will have to make a few trips back and forth.

Just use you brain, and work things out logically.

Also, don't put duplicated items down on floor together, you will loose one of them.

The time travel cheat works wonders, when you meet Alain, you can have the same person touch him, and increase their level, loads of times. My Dwavern Fighter Stumpy, was at the 13th level!!!

I haven't figured out how to use this method with EOB1 yet, but I am trying.

I used to play this game on my 20mhz 386, 2megs of ram and a 42meg hardrive. I also had number 3 but this one was best. you can find the short sword "sting" near the begining. I beat it once and the end guy dran draggore is very hard. Actually though the beholders would kill a party just as quick and there was a whole level of them. I also beat clouds of xeen which is still a really great game

Beholders? Do you mean gas spores?

gas spores is easy. but beholders with them spamming disintegrate spells all the time like nobody's business...thats a real pita. saving the game after each beholder fight is crucial.

Okay, it took some time for me to remember...corridors....yes ,it was hard to get through even though I editted my characters with 255 hit points ^_^

It was good they build the option in it for multiple save games ,in EOB 1 there was only one slot.

Gotta agree!
It's been long since they provided some support :D

It's abandoned to me too! ;)

Oh... and this is the BEST in the series!

Not only in the series... It's so beautiful and fun. Some new game developers should learn one lesson or two with this one! :)

Just a quick question in teh hopes some one can help;-

I'm on the 4 wiond tower, level 2 at area 10 on teh walkthrough (I usualy don't use tehm, but thoght it would be easier to identify where I am for asking this question).

I have acopper key, yet when I try it in the lock (which is supposed to need a copper key) I get the message "you need a key to open tis lock". Which rather looks like a bug. It seems that teh software isn't recogniseing the key as a key.

Has anyone else had this problem? If so, how did you fix it? Or has anyone got any ideas how I can fix it?

Thanks in advance.
