For those who dont know what mud is:

MUD is a short of Multi-User-Dungeon.Its an free online-rpg with lots of possibilities. There are no grapichs(I always spell that word wrong) in these MUDs,there is only text.
Text gives lots of freedom for these MUDs,and you can do almost anything(Kiss, drink, draw sword, shoot mutant with plasma cannon....).

Id like to recommend two MUDs:
Discworld MUD (http://discworld.atuin.net\lpc\)-A MUD that is based on the Discworld Novels.
Achae (http://achaea.com/main.html)-Another MUD that is worth to try.

The MUD connector (http://www.mudconnect.com/) if two seem like a limiting choice :P

Discworld MUD is really good. Funny and with cool quests! I've played it a couple of years ago! Busy and filled with decent folk. The spells you could get as wizard were also cool. I believer there's one with which you can conjure a bunch of flowers.. that kinda thing!

I've heard of MUDs but I am not really interested in playing them , I do have friends that play them.

Of course there's also the mighty BatMUD (http://www.bat.org), which has been around for ages and is currently the largest MUD around.

I wish they'd bring back the good old Might, Magic & Mushrooms..

And how about Materia Magica (http://www.materiamagica.com/). I haven't played, but it sure looks nice (not to mention huge)...

I enjoy various MUDs, too many to count actually.

When I first noticed this topic, I thought it meant mud, as in the mud that gathers on the ground.

<geezer> You kids today with your HTML and your Java. It ain't a real MUD if you don't have to telnet to it from a command prompt! Why, I remember back in '91, we used to have to...eh...we had to eat...and...where are my pills?! </geezer>

You still have to use telnet to MUD even if it's encased in a fancy ZMUD-client :)

I never really liked MUD. Nor did I like the wet dirt version of mud.

How can you resist the ecstasy of rolling around in fresh mud, then taking it through your fingers and slowly watching it drip through?
