I recently downloaded Lion from Underdogs. When I opened it it had 20 unzippable files, which I assume are the 20 disks need for installing. I created a folder and put the files lion-01, lion-02, and so on, in it. I installed it and it works up to the point before the menu. The screen goes blank and nothing happens. I tried running it from DosBox, all it said was invalid file or something of the sort. Could someone who has the game or any knowledge about installing CD-rips, guide me through the installation process and ho get it running correctly. It looks like a very good game. Any help is appreciated.

somehow i'm not quite sure whether it's reasonable to discuss a different game that has
been downloaded from another site in this thread!

Is it possible to post a screenshot of the 20 files? Would be easier to understand what the problem is.

Well let me explain it. After it was downloaded, I clicked open, There's 20 files then when unzipped have other files in it. It is a cd rip, so just any help. I really want to play this game

Well, I don't have the game file(s) so it's pretty hard to help you without something to work with.
Sorry.
what are the extensions for the files (what file types are they)?

.Zip files, theres 20 .zip files, each containing the content of the disks.
I found this at the Underdogs:
The CD-rip of Lion runs just fine-- in DOS. I know the information about Lions lists Win95/98, but never-the-less. Home of the Underdogs is a Museum of these games first and foremost and provides all the information about the original issue.
The rip version will apparently occasionally run in a Windows DOS box, but if you want to play this rip without problems, you will need to run it in Pure DOS. It will usually exit out straight away, or a few minutes into the game when you try to run it VIA Windows. The version here has been ripped to get the files from the hard drive, not the CD. The errors you're getting are most likely something like "hr_flic.c" or "hr_hires.c"
Here's my step-by-step. It is probably more information than you need, Jim, but the thread has fallen off and it may help others later. Read through it carefully to be sure you've followed *all* the steps.
Unzip the download to an empty temporary directory. You should have 21 smaller .zips (LION-01.ZIP through LION-20.ZIP and the LION-FIX.ZIP)
Unzip the LION-01.ZIP through LION-20.ZIPs into the same temporary directory. Note that the only files you really need from these zips are the INSTALL.EXE and the LION.001 through LION.020 files. All the rest are just hacker signature files.
Unzip the LION-FIX.ZIP into the temporary directory. You will overwrite the INSTALL.EXE file that is there. That's normal.
Run the INSTALL.EXE program and leave the default install destination directory as it is- install the game to \Lion. The installation program will unpack the game into the \Lion directory. This is where the real game files are.
In Pure DOS, change to the \Lion directory and run the LION.EXE program to start the game.
Note that this Rip has all the sound files ripped out to save room, so there's nothing wrong with your copy if you get no sound. During gameplay, you can press F1 for help. Press ESC to quit the game.
Hope this helps you.
It seems you may be out of luck, unless you're able to run DOS on your machine or have another that can run it.

So I take it this won't run on DOSbox?
Hmm, new information has surfaced. There should be a file called lion.cfg, somewhere. Edit it and check that it's ponting to the right directory.
Edit: I also managed to find this:
Running the game under Windows XP Pro however is great, as long as you run the XP "Compatability-Mode" on the .EXE file firstand set graphics for 256 mode-only, with sound set for 8-bits.
Don't know if it works, though.
