Games are:

Quake
Soggoth (quake 2)
Quake 2 (Quake 3 Arena)
Soggoth 2 (Quake 4)

Quake 2 wasn't supposed to be quake at first place. Id just wanted to earn some extra cash and with name of quake. Quake 2 has nothing to do with theme of quake 1. Also quake 4 is going to be sequel to part 2 so it should be named as shoggoth 2. Id is a lameass company. I know that quake 4 will be as lousy as doom 3 was.

Isn't Doom 3 any good. I hear it's *dirty word* BRILLIANT, but I could never play it on this computer of mine. But I have only played Quake 3 Arena. And I'm pretty sure it was my first ever FPS game with full mouse look.

The Niles

I never played any of the quake games. FPS are not my style. I will be trying out Doom 3 once I have my new computer (Half Life 2 also once it is reasonably priced) and I always liked the looks of FPS games. It's just that the gameplay is so repetative.

Even if Quake was abandoned it would be too big for this site. We might be able to add the freeware version (demo).

1st person shooters are as repeating as any other games. Platformers are all the same, strategy games are all the same.. All the music genres repeat theirselves. All movie genres repeat themselves (expect for really artistic ones). It's just how you take it.

The Niles
19-11-2004, 09:05 AM
Nonsense. In most FPS all you do is shoot monsters with ever increasingly powerful weapons while finding keys to open the next door behind which lurk even more monsters for you to shoot. Strategy is more varied in that it has many game play elements and many more ways to win.

There are bad strategy games to be sure and those are no fun to play but the best strategy games are infinitely more varied then FPS.

Iron_Scarecrow
19-11-2004, 09:12 AM
If you want repetitive game get a racing game.
But anyway FPS games can get repetitive but the action is just so great you cant help but get addicted. And I'd prefer FPS games that don't have a story line with bosses. Such as Unreal tournament or Counter Strike (even though that is quite boring now but good while it lasted). Although I still like the ones with the Stories invovled. Unreal 2 = *dirty word* EXCELLENT.

The Niles

FPS have improved over the years. I played the first Doom and loved it then played Doom 2 but was not as thrilled as I was with the first game. After that I lost all interrest in the genre for years and years. I never played half life until just a few months ago. The first FPS I played after Doom2 (played through I mean) was Star Trek Voyager: Elite Force. I liked and at times loved it. After that I took a little more notice of the genre again. Still not a fan but I am looking foreward to playing some of the games (like HL2 and Doom3).

Iron_Scarecrow
19-11-2004, 09:38 AM
I haven't played many of the old FPS games. Only ones I remember playing was a star wars one and duke nukem 3D. Other than that I have only played FPS games that have full mouse look. But I am also looking forward to playing Doom 3 not so much Half Life 2.

The Niles
19-11-2004, 09:43 AM
I forgot about Dark Forces. I played those ones as well (Dark Forces 1 + 2). Those were nice.

Why don't you think you will play Half Life 2? It is the biggest hype out there.

Iron_Scarecrow
19-11-2004, 09:46 AM
Well around where I live it seems Doom 3 is bigger. But I never said I wasn't going to play it. Just I wasn't looking forward to it as much as Doom 3. Or that is what I meant, I can see how I misled you. Sorry for that. :ok:

Morrin

What ever you say captain.

Anyway. 1st and 3rd person shooters have always been my favorites.

- Max Payne 1 & 2
- Hitman series
- Painkiller
- Deus Ex
- System Shock 2
- Quake

Great games all!

Iron_Scarecrow
19-11-2004, 11:23 AM
Max Payne 2 was excellent. I finished it on easy then medium, couldnt be bothered going through a third time. And now since we uninstalled it I couldnt be bothered going through easy and medium just to try hard even though I want to. I love the reload animation where he spins around especially with the dual berettas. :ok: :ok:

BTW Anyone know if there are any save files that have at least easy and medium modes finished?

Morrin

I haven't played Max for long time but I think im "currently playing" hard difficulty. Im in the last level that is one pain in the ass.

Im askin Painkiller: battle out of hell for christmas present and If no one buys it, I buy it myself. :D

I've been playing Halo2 too with my roomate that has xbox and I think it's bloody brilliant. The massive war scenes are damn "beautiful". If it's going to be on PC, I think im definetly buying it! It's a blast!

I've been addicted to Half-Life 2 for the past few days (since I got it) and I can tell you now that it is much better than Doom 3, Doom 3 is fun but gets very bored and repetitive as the game progresses but Half-Life 2 just keeps throwing new thnigs at you, it is also much more atmoshperic than Doom 3 (I just finished the Ravenholm level OMG).

I must be the only FPS fan out there who isn't going to buy Half-Life2. Also the steam registeration limits my enthusiasm to the game.

I just completed painkiller with nightmare difficulty. Therefore I unlocked trauma difficulty that sounds quite... crispy. :) Im excited of having the expansion!

I would rather see any discussion of warez in any way shape or form not be done on abandonia. So please do not say which games you have illegally or plan to acquire illegally. For discussion sake at least pretend your games are all purchased.

In fact, I want to make a new rule.

Discussion of Warez in ANY aspect is illegal!

That will ONLY lead this site into more danger.

Iron_Scarecrow
22-11-2004, 12:17 PM
So what will be the punishment for mentioning Warez?

Tom Henrik
22-11-2004, 12:24 PM
How about a 1 day ban, and if it continues a full ban.

This site is getting a lot of attention lately, and it will soon attract the attention of gaming companies that do not approve of what we are doing. If they see us discussing Warez of ANY KIND, they can and will shut us down.

Iron_Scarecrow
22-11-2004, 12:28 PM
Well I'll do my best to try and not to mention it. How about a small set of rules to follow, and the warning of the punishments, in the Important Announcements section. Not everyone will read this thread?

Hi, good night:
I think uploading Quake (I) and Duke Nukem 3D would be a good addition to abandonia. They are 8 or 9 years old. I don't know if they're abandonware (Maybe the Duke is...), but I know that they don't weight too much, like Blood more or less. WHat do you all think about it?
Later

P.S:Quake is Id's which means that probably it isn't abandoned.

Hi, good night to you all:
This was a suggestion, even more than a request. I don't talk about warez, Ziza, or at least I didn't it intentionally. I just thought they were abandoned, that's all. Because they're old enough, and games like Blood are here, why Blood isn't warez and DN3D and Quake are? Besides, Blood is newer than these.
But don't worry now I know that these games are not abandoned and this is just what I wanted to know, that was the reason why I asked it here in the forum
Good Bye.

P.S.:Just wanted to know that's all folks

The Niles

All you needed to do is to look into the Oldwarez list (http://abandonia.com/main.php?nav=awlist) on the main site. Quake is still sold.

You can get a shareware version from the company itself.

Games which are reviewed but not available for download were once available, I think.

If that's a joke, then it's not funny.

Use the oldwarez list (http://www.abandonia.com/main.php?nav=awlist) to check status of old games, ask for them here only if you see them listed as "Abandonware" or not listed at all.
