While the graphics are pretty much the same, I really miss the great music found in the Amiga version. It was the first game I ever played that had the music perfectly blend between themes as you traveled the levels by dropping and starting instruments.

Thanks for offering this game, though! It is still a blast to play!

yeah...Bitmap Brothers RULED on amiga. Simply every game from them had a fantastic soundtrack. I remember we looped them to tape through an equalizer and played that stuff on birthday parties........

Chaos Engine' soundtrack is great, prsnly I liked Speedbal 2 better

And Gods was great, too......

The good ol' Amiga was a fine machine in GFX and sound.....*sniff*

miss the old times...

I STILL play this game with my kid brother :))

He comes over, I wheel out the Amiga 1200 and away we go. Just like the old days only 12 years later. Only problem now is my old digital joysticks are starting to play up - it's hard to find replacements :(

i just use mega drive (aka genesis) joypads for my old amiga. it only works as a 2 button pad though, but still the easiest way to replace any knackered old controllers.

One of the things I really liked about this game was the victorian steampunk backstory and characters. Without them I doubt I would have enjoyed it much, it's still not a great game in my book but is easily twice as good if you have a friend on hand to help. I think I played this on the ST (could have been Amiga though) and then the SNES and whilst it isn't the kind of game I normally go for it is worth playing simply because the Bitmap Brothers were genius and whilst this isn't their finest game it's still perfectly enjoyable for mindless carnage.

It does have joystick support (in setup)... Don't know if plug&play devices will be recognised...

^ Thankyou very much for your help. No,unfortunately plug `n` play joysticks arent supported :tai: Like many of the people above, I used to play this on an amiga 500 using a nes controller pad. Such a shame I cant now but at least the game seems to run fine :-)

Hi, there!

I have a problem:
I never get this passwords. They should show up after the equippment screens but they donīt...
Is it because I donīt have the copy protection code?
But the text says that itīs cracked, though...

But nevertheless: A great game, I used to play it on my Amiga.

Greets!

You can still play it on Amiga (You'll need amiga emulator for that - it's called WinUAE).

I personaly like more SNES version of this game (no download time :))

There is a utility to make any joystick/gamepad work with those games.

Try this... (http://members.home.nl/mabus/files/jtk374en.rar)

@ AIM - If I remember correctly, you'll get passwords only after you complete the world. (4 levels if I'm correct :))

Hi all, i've been looking at this site for awhile now and boy has it brought back some memories, it's nice to see that people are working on keeping these games alive.

I loved this game for the Genesis, it's a blast to go through alone, killing off your support character and not paying for him to come back. :D

Two player mode of this game is useless. Any two characters don’t move
independently of each other so one character ends up dragging another into the line of fire. I always remember the two player mode on the Amiga version being a tad twitchy but this versions beyond a joke.

This game's an absolute (sp?) blast to play, especially with another player! Love the RP elements with the different characters and stats.

What exactly happens when you try to run the game in DosBox? Detailed description, please, including any and all error messages that result.

Configure "xpadder" to mimic the keys. useful for lots of dos games. Google it and install for joystick fun on retro bits with less hassle than joystick config menu doesnt work fun.

SMD2? what's SMD2?

I had a demo version of this game, but the controls were so weird I couldn't play it at all. I'm glad they made a J2ME conversion and I could play it on my old sony ericsson W580i :D

Hey, I'm having a small problem with the controls on this game- it seems to consider the attack and special attack keys to be the same.

I've remapped it multiple times, but whatever keys I set it to, pressing the attack key for any length of time beyond a light tap executes a special attack.

I'm playing it in DOSbox 0.73.

I have the same problem with the shoot and special key being the same and indeed there are some sound effects, but of all things firing a gun doesnīt produce an effect.

Also itīs sad that two players canīt play on one keyboard.

Oh well, seemed like a nice game

Try Alt instead of CTRL.
The special key (CTRL) works like normal fire when you have finished special weapons.
