Panzer General Slowness And Sound

While the game runs (the one from this site) under dosbox, I encounter the same problem I have with the Pinball fantasies/dreams games, only more often. That is the sound/music skips every x amount of seconds. Also no matter how much I increase the cycles the scrolling (particularly the map) is very slow.

I changed the options of dosbox to sb1 from 16 and still the same problem. Increased the cycles from 3000 to 8000 and nothing.
Any idea how it can be fixed and why these similar problems exist between this game and those pinball games?

OK, this is very strange, I KNOW I put this in the technical forum but it appears in the favourite oldies.

why did you try to post it there in the frist place? it an obvious 'troubleshooting' thread.
now tell me this- you didn't even try to run the game in XP, correct? well go try it, that solves your problem, and don't forget to run sound.bat !
tell us how it went (regardless of success)

When I said technical I meant troubleshooting, which is kind of funny.


I didn't think of trying it under native XP.

Now, that problem is gone, though I have no music for some reason, but I don't care for it anyway, the problem now is the very slow mouse cursor in the game, where everything else runs ok to fast speed. Further suggestions? :-)

OK, fixed it for good. I installed the windows version of the game. :D
