Hello all.
First off, I wanted to say this is a great site. Keep up the good work.

Now on to my questions.

Is Freespace abandonware and if so, where might I find it?
I have found Freespace2 and the Open Source version, however I can't seem to find FS1. I have the add-on CDs for 'The Silent Threat' but I lost my Freespace cds in a move and now I can't use my add-on cd.
Any help would be really appreciated.

Second part - I used to be addicted to a game back in the late 80s on my Commodore64. I don't recall the name of the game but I do recall you flew a (top down) space ship around, landed on some platforms, suited up your team, left the ship, fought your way into some space buildings and then (here's the funny part) kidnapped a scientist, drugged him and made him give you info on everything from opening up doors to how to get to the next level. I seem to remember a loading/splash screen with the name Paradox (I think) but not much else. I've looked all over the C64 sites I've found online, but none has this game and I'm starting to wonder if I really did play it. :D

Thanks again.

Thanks.

I don't know why but for some reason the thought of an oversized Shemp head on Iron Chef Morimoto makes me laugh. :D

I noticed there are lots of nice looking images/avatars on this site and I wanted to be original.

Are you familiar with the tv show 'Iron Chef'?

Anyone know if this is abandon yet?

I've not seen it anywhere for years, can't even find much info about it on the net anymore.

wasn't it freeware to begin with? or am I thinking of the wrong game (space fighters, humans fighting against aliens because of some diplomatic missunderstanding..., no?)

Nah, it was sold. Never tried the first one but Conflict Freespace 2 was pretty good.

BTW, the games are also known as Descent Freespace.

Desecent - Freespace and the sequal Freespace 2 are in a gray area I think. Volition are gone and they are no longer sold however the company that owned Volition, Gremlin and whatever they became, has the rights to the games. Derek Smart is also trying to buy the name.

So I believe they are not abandonware.
