Yes, i am feeling the spirit and charisma of Gothic now.

I am in the beginning of the game.

Very stable and fast.
My laptop Toshiba Satellite in not new - only 6Gb Ram and
so so video card.
Only Master Capo the best player (more than 1000 passed games)
has very nice PC.
Poor yoga = church mice.

My only remark is absolutely unhandy Save option.
I was very sat. with F5 of previous RPG.
Now:
Escape - Game - Save - gamer writes name of the saving - Enter - Escape 2 times !!?
6 times pressing buttons + game name writing !
Game is not easy at all and Save is not bad idea.

There are palliative solutions that can help ease these hardware limitations:

01) Use a RAM Memory Optimizer such as the freeware MZ RAM Booster (I really like this GUI);

02) Close unnecessary programs using the Windows Task Manager itself or programs such as Startup Manager.

So you may have more RAM available for the game on your notebook. :OK: It would be just my humble suggestion. :kosta: No offense... :(

Believe me, You will be not disappointed.

Risen is user friendly, calm and pretty nice game, all in spirit of Gothic.

You can count on my help.

I will start Knights of the Old Republic after Risen.

Just one advise for new gamers: (Not spoiling).

- Mates, during yr adventures you will meet 3-4 Skeletons in old castles. Nice. Their leader is so named Undead Lord. Not true. It is vulnerable too.
With about 200 Hit Points, Strength 25-30, good weapon Skullspliter you may bravely attack it. 5-7 good hits and voilaaaa - its dead.

- Make difference between black wolf and wolf. First is much more dangerous.

Just finished the game yesterday with a level 36 Dark Side Sentinel/Assassin, but I've been thorough with every quest and location in the game, and TSLRCM patch-mod does add quite a bit of additional content too.
Still can't get enough of it yet, time for a second Light Side playthrough :max:


Also I've read that if you play KotOR II TSL through 2 times (1 on Dark Side, 1 on Light Side), and start another new game a third time, there's some different easter-egg dialogue from many in-game characters.

I like RPG very much.

Till 2006 to today i played about 60 games mainly the best ones.

My favorites are
1. Dungeon Master 2
2. The witcher 3

and now i will add the beautiful RISEN.

This is very user friendly,
stable and bring the atmosphere of nice Gothic series.

The game control is very easy, quests are pretty nice and they are not of all some dead ends.

Never seen before game with such a nice charisma.
Graphics is nice, requirements are not difficult
( Win 7 pro, 64 bits, 6 Gb RAM, middle class video card ).
Moreover the game always makes Autosave entering zone with more monsters.

For me is a real pleasure to share an interesting moment concerning one of the strong monster Ogre:

Listen carefully and make notes.
1. Never-mind what is yr level.
2. You have to have bow or crossbow with minimum 150 arrows or bolts,
1 arrow / bolt costs 1 gold only. Dough or Oscar can sell these ones.
Repeat 150 arrows or bolts.
I prefer crossbow.
Well, now carefully come close to Ogre and tease it with one arrow in its body.
It started to chase you. OK.
Remember that in Ogre passage is located one deviation to chasm.
You will easy recognize the deviation with small green tree.
Escaping from angry ogre you must reach the tree and KEEP right side and jump.
Again- keep running near to right side before jump.
Relax! You can not sacrifice yourself because there is small ledge and you will be save.
Turn around and start killing ogre with bow. Peace of cake. :smile2:

That sounds a lot like Gothic 3 engine loopholes, then again from the screenshot you posted last, Risen 1 sword on your character totally looks the same as the default sword in Gothic III, so I guess it makes sense.

1. You may activate weapons by 2 ways:
A) Pressing middle button (actually wheel of mouse)
B) Pressing button 2, situated over button W

2. You know abs. exactly how many time played the game.

3. Last but not least - No problem to run in terrible rain! No snow at all!! Fantastic..

4. There are two more Risen: 2+3 Miracle!!!!!!!!!!!

In the beginning i wiping how unhandy is the Save option.
Then i realized that in Setting we have Quick save, but locked.

Today i was badly beaten from bro of first 5-6 Ogres, who i tricky killed.
Now AI beats yoga the brave.
Moreover in my investigations i found a terrible cave full with the strongest monsters as follow:
Ogres, Ashbeasts (monkees-like), Scorpions and more till unknown ones.
The road downstairs ends in fire lava.
Terrible!!!
From time to time i do some dead runs forward to know what wait me after the corner.

- Please, do not robe and pickpocket some innocent persons during the game if no case of extra ordinary.

--Why, yoga, i need more money and good weapons?

- Do not! Yes, You need money and weapons for the moment but will be very unhappy later when suddenly realize that this person plays important role in your gaming.
(This was the reason yoga to start again some game moment because i idiotically killed a farmer. 3 gaming days lost.)

One more word, if you do not mind:
-During the game you will collect many plants, meats and other junk.
Do not sale all "junk" to trader because in some moment for example cook will ask you for meat, eggs and like.
Even the bones are very important!
Yes, you may sell it, but always keep in mind to have a reserve.

There is an absolute difficult interaction between persons, objects and events in Risen.

Didn't you write that killed a peasant earlier? If somebody saw you doing that, the whole population in the game will know, if this game works any same as Gothic games. Or if you've been stealing and got caught, and ran away, people will know as well.


One fun thing, that happened to me in Gothic II once as well, in Khorinis. I've been experimenting with constantly summoning Black Trolls (cheating for fun :whistling:) in the city to see people fight them, and many people died. Funny thing is, the game puts the credit for any such death on the player. And of course many survived so knew I was the murderer.
So later when I went to Lord Andre, he mentionied something along the lines: "There have been rumors that you've been killing many people. Strangely enough, there was nobody willing to testify, no doubt you've been going on a killing spree to silence witnesses. I'll be watching you."
I found that hilarious, that's also the only time I saw that, as normally I never kill any NPCs in Gothic, or only that one trader in Khorinis whom you meet sitting on a bench in the beginning before entering it. He's just too obnoxious, but usually only exception.

Yendorian Tales Book I Chapter 2. I've got that one and part 3 - The Tyrants of Thaine, but not the first game in the trilogy (still happy I have those games preserved).
Only played the second part, that was very, very long ago, some beginning of 2000 or so, on a Windows 95 computer, in Ms-Dos. It's a bit like Might & Magic, tile-based movement in a 3D-looking world, and (for that time it came out) quite good graphics too, every monster nicely animated. Was pretty fun as well, it's purely a dungeon (and surface) crawler RPG with some ok story.

Not a very much known game series, those are true underdogs, similar to WarWizard (http://www.abandonia.com/en/games/28493/WarWizard.html).

Well, this is absolutely user friendly game..

Example: I had quest: Collect all 5 pieces of Titan Armor.
OK.
But in one moment i was in very bad situation..
brave is in corridor.
In front are 3 elite lizard warriors.
Behind me is lava, No way to run.
I trued to attack first with 2-3 Fireball hits and then continue with my Titan sword. In vain. Because they are very fast, strong and ...3! I tried help of Skeleton, transfered myself in Ashbeast, no result.
After 3 hours of hopeless attempts i remembered that best defense is attack. I advanced to see that monsters are located in small room. I started again. Hurray! I killed the first one. Then i save my progress.

Can you tell me pls another game which allows Save in battle?!

So brave slow, clever step by step beats warriors. Using Save option.

No, why should it be? It was made by Origin, owned by Electronic Arts, so by default an English language game.
Not a good game though, based on personal experience. There might be some fan-made mods and patches now, but when I played the game sometime in 2008 there was only a fan patch to some in-game maps, and the game itself, well... it's very uncompleted, unpolished, enemy and player combat animations looking weird and awkward. But it was playable, and I really liked the in-game music. Guess it's best if you test the game for yourself and see how you feel about it.
