View Full Version : Sam and max and monkey island
Sam and max and Monkey island (1,2,3) are both the best adventure games ever!!!!! im not really a huge fan of adventure games especially ones like myst and riven but Sam and max and monkey island are both amazing with really good graphics (well they were at the time!) and really funny plots they kept me (and still do) occupied for hours but unfortunatly i have broken mi sam and max disks so i cant play it anymore :(
Any one else think there amazing??

I like Sam & Max Hit The Road with their sarcastically and sometimes sadistically humour. It's definitely a good game of that time.
I have the game on one of my CD's too, so I could upload it to the site.

I have completed all 4 Monkey Island games (number 2 was the best) and Sam and Max hit the road, I also am a fan of Day of the Tenticle.
dott is cool. I'm know playing the cd version of fate of atlantis. (I think it's the cd version not sure.)

try scummvm for dott and fate of atlantis.
www.scummvm.org I think. (although both work in DOSBox as well)
PLEASE!!!!! upload sam and max PLEASEEEE!!
THink of it this way Ive wasted mi entire childhood trying to find sam and max again (after i broke a floppy) PLEASEEEE!!!!

You can find Sam & Max on www.ebay.de or perhaps in other ebay, which language you could understand, like www.ebay.com . Same for Day of Tentacle.

I took a look around...
LucasArts do not even mention Sam & Max anywhere (not even if you search for it), so unless sombody else has taken over the rights for this game I think we can call it Abandonware...
If this is correct, then the game will be on the site in a short amount of time.
WOW that would be great because ive not played on it for ages, hope fully it is abandonwear if not ill just have to go and buy off somewhere, but i dont really want to do that as i bought the game my self when it first came out, but as they dont support it or anything you cant really do anything about it.
Thanks so much for all the imput and stuff and i hope that it is abandonwear

Forgot it?
No.
The problem is that LucasArts is still selling this game. So if you want it, you will have to buy it.

It's yours for 14.95$

Speaking of DOTT, have you tried a prequel, called "Maniac Mansion"? It uses SCUMM (actually, the scumm was written for it), so it doesn't work without dosbox, but there's a fan remake ("Maniac Mansion Deluxe") that really hits the spot. I downloaded and finished it just the other day. Superb game.

I love the Monkey Island.... Well, nr 1,2,3 are the best... I think nr 4 is just too... uh.... dunno... hmm.... too something!
But I think nr 2 is the best.... But I don't have nr 1 and 2.... :(

Manic Mansion is included in DOTT, there is a computer in the room with the man with the hamsters, if you use it you start playing Manic Mansion.

Monkey Island 2 I have, I didn't make it to play the game actually though.
LucasArts are great but they dont make adventure games like they did,and its an even bigger shame that they've canceled (persponed) Sam and Max freelance police :( . ive not acctually played DOTT but i will do soon as it looks good and full throtle was great although i found the bit where you had the motor bike fights a bit hard....

Hi I'm new here. I've seen Sam and Max as Abandonware on www.filecity.gr (moderators feel free to remove the link if you wish). It's an image of the cd-version...
I doubt this is really abondonware since the game is still sold in a collectionpack:

They almost reached a legendary state today. They are the best known games of all times (and also two of the best).

I love the Monkey Island series.
By the way LucasArts still own Sam and Max and they are going to make a Sam 'n' Max game for the PS2 aswell, if you dont believe me, do a google search.
Though it is not said when the production will start.

Didn't they want to make Sam & Max 2? Is it this game for PS2? If that is, they stopped doing it...

Yay, Freddy's right about that one. I think the plan originally was to do the Sam and Max sequel but they pulled the plug on the project recently due to lack of interest. Kinda sucks!

Damn!
I thought that they had "pulled the plug" But then found a site that showed screenshots of the sequel, and it was at the E3 show, for new up coming games.
They must have been old screenshots, and they just said it was at the show.

I remember seeing Day of the Tentacle on the shelf at Cyber Exchange a few years ago for ten dollars and couldn't help but pick it up. I already had Maniac Mansion so it was a no brainer. I'm glad I did because the game blew me away; the graphics and full speech were amazing at the time. :D

Well I was just checking at www.lucasarts.com and they don't mention Sam'n'Max not the DOTT for that matter. But it was only about a week ago (when I was checking for Zak McCracken - an excelent game - had to say it) that they still had an add for an adventure pack with Full Throttle, Sam'n'Max,... Basically I think it's the same pack I bought about 10 years ago - but they're still selling it - so Sam'n'Max would be a no-no. Sorry!!!
I think that all Lucsaarts talkies are still being sold

That's not true!
Zak McCracken and Loom are abandoned (that's two games already). Then there's the Maniac Mansion (although it's a remake - it actually looks nicer this way). Then there's Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade...
All of the above are non talkies BTW - but they are abandoned...
There are a few more but not worth mentioning - that's why they were abandoned - but it is true - there are no current options to buy Sam'n'Max, DOTT, The DIG, Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis...

I fail to see why Maniac Mansion is considered to be abandoned, as it comes along with Day of the Tentacle.

We offer the game made by LucasFans.

Well unless you go to the adress directly - there's no link to find that (search the whole store - but no adventures come up)...
I know these games aren't abandoned yet, but we're getting closer to that - and as for Maniac Mansion:
1 - we don't offer the game - but the FREE remake the Fans made...
2 - it doesn't actually count that it's a part of DOTT - because you get the full working version - YES, but you can't buy the game itself. It's just like buying a whole hamburger - just so you'd get that slice of lettuce...

Isn't that the same as buying the above adventure game package in order to get one of the games in it..? ;)
EDIT: By the way, Dark Forces seems to be unavailable from LucasArts itself. However, at least CDaccess has it for those who are still missing it. http://www.cdaccess.com/html/quick/darkforpr.htm
EDIT2: Apologies for the horrible attempt at ye olde English. Won't happen again.

'Tis the latter part of thou electronical scroll I nay can locate. All but the archive of oldye adventures are visable - but nay - not the one I seek.
Anyway - I think we all agree - as long as it's not 100% sure it's abandoned - we don't put it up!
And about buying a game pack to get the whole game... It's not quite the saem - the pack itself says - Included Maniac Mansion II: Day fo the Tentacle - but it doesn't say - play the original MAniac Mansion once you come to Weird Ed's room. You must own and play the game in order to discover this bonus feature...
