I think every one should try it, even if he doesn't like cRPG's. I know few people who doesn't like cRPG's but they loved Fallout.
This game is a MUST. Run to the shop, now :D

Yes. I have the first. I saw the second once for sale, but didn't buy it. But you shouldn't make that mistake.

RPG is my favorite game genre, and as much as it may shock people, i wouldn't advise you to pay more than 10 bucks.I know i wouldn't pay that much.I just don't like it.Nobody here does actually(Romania i mean), and i know many hardcore RPG gamers.

The second Falout far surpasses the first, though the first is still very good and you should buy it if you see it cheap. I was lucky enough to find tthe Fallout Collection in my local Gamestation for very little money.

It is, quite possibly, the best game ever, no matter what the PC magazines say.
The storyline rich, the combat exiting, this game sets the standard for ALL RPG's after it.
Anyone who hasn't experienced this, well, let's just say that Not ever playing Fallout is like Not ever losing your Virginity.
I played the demo on my Imac long ago... i can probably pick them up off e-bay.
Fallout
Fallout2
Fallout:Tactics
Usually all come in one bundle for around ?10 i think. :D
What is fallout tactics?
Yobor
04-04-2005, 04:29 PM
Fallout Tactics is a Squad-based action game, like um.,.... Jagged Alliance. Kinda.
I enjoy Tactics a lot, but many people dont like it.

its....strange,. its a tactical game based int he fallout world.
its a nice game, just not what people wanted.
Rogue
04-04-2005, 06:36 PM
I like it. But I haven't play it much.
If i get them all in a bundle i cant go wrong i suppose :D
Dreadlord
04-04-2005, 07:22 PM
Yes, the only bundles I know of contained only Fallout 1 & 2.
Buy those before you buy Tactics. Whether or not you like Tactics is solely based on liking the Fallout battle system.

You could always try JA before deciding on F:T since it resembles that more than the RPG Fallout games IMO.
Dreadlord
04-04-2005, 07:43 PM
Fallout Tactics borrows directly from Fallout, I don't see how JA resembles it at all.
Nearly everything is different.
Definatly play the Fallout games first! Because they're good! And they're great! And there's a reason everyone is looking for them which lead to a April Fools thread that was recently closed!
Just to repeat; I'm still hosting the Fallout 1 demo: here (http://netsoc.tcd.ie/~broadhed/)
It works in Win95 compatability mode.

Jim, do I know you from some other forums?? (eab, lemon and ta)
Fallout tactics incorporates better batle system then games. Indeed better batle system. I never finished 2nd game. Got lost with tons of mini-missions and wife (not the real one, but the one you can get in the game :))

I'm taking a big risk downloading this demo that is 20 mb on my 56k modem, but I'm only doing so cause you're all *dirty word* obsessed with this game.
Just so you know I'm not happy about downloading this, I wont be happy if it turns out like it did with The Da Vinci Code, and I especially wont be happy if it doesn't work.
DeathDude
05-04-2005, 03:23 AM
I'd suggest a download manager, always helps when downloading big files on 56k, something like getright is a good one. Especially if you don't want to download all at once.

I used to use NetAnts, but that disappeared one day, don't know where.
But I just hope no one cuts me off the internet while it's downloading, then I deffinently wont be happy.
I'll go get some lunch while it's downloading.
EDIT I just noticed it's by Interplay, should be a good game then.

Fallout and Fallout 2 fall into my group as "games tha have my children"
Fallout Tactics i wasn't interested in, so i never really played it
*crosses fingers for Fallout 3 despite the demise of Black Isle Studios*

Well the download just finished, so I'm going to go play it.
EDIT I'm pissed off it's not working. :ranting: :ranting: :ranting:
All that time and downloads wasted. :ranting: :ranting: :ranting:

Minimum requirements: Windows 95
Does that give anyone else the impression it will work on XP, or just me?
irrelevantjet
05-04-2005, 05:28 AM
not entirely, it depends on when the person wrote "minimum requirements"
i have many programs that don't run under Windows XP
and hardware too.... my graphics card refuses to work
Iron_Scarecrow
05-04-2005, 05:32 AM
Ah *meep* it I don't care anymore.
EDIT But just so you know, I have never come across anything that works in 95 that doesn't work in XP until now.
Funnily enough it wont work for me under XP but everybody says it does... its a conspiracy!
Whats Fallout:Broterhood Of Steel (Xbox,PS2) like?
Danny252
05-04-2005, 08:02 AM
I've found some demo's that wont work on xp, or it may be my graphics card buggering itself up.. do you know how hard it is to play Theif 2 on my pc?? glad i have 2..

Moved to correct topic
Fallout 2 is probably one of the games that I've enjoyed the most. The first game is also good.

Fallout: BoS is something like Fallout 3, as it is third part of this game, but this game hasn't anything with Fallout 1 and 2. It's somekind of FPS.

I was lucky and got all 3 games in a bundel pack for rather cheap. I completed fallout 1, still busy with 2 (close to the end I think) and enjoying tactics... it's fun.
Tactics IS alot more like JA 1/2 than Fallout 1/2. NOT in content, but in what type of game it is, the EGNINE. Tactics is a STRATEGY game, not a RPG. Just like JA 1/2 is a strategy game. the cool thing is it's based on fallout witch makes tacktics really cool.
Hmmm.. Tacktics with JA2's engine... now THAT would be cool :)
ForceUser
ps. I Hate it, and love it, when they make fps out of RTSs/RPGs (It's complicated :P )

It doesn't have the same engine, Fallout Tactics is still an RPG, despite the tactical strategy elements, not only that, it's almost exactly the same as the Fallout 1 & 2 battle engines, not sure you've played it if you say it isn't an RPG.
You still get all the perks, skills & traits, and stats.
It's basicly a hybrid RPG/Strategy game.
Tactics is good for people who loved holding fights in Fallout, which I did, so I in turn bought it.

Indeed. The battle systems in Fallout 1 and 2 were indeed a stroke of genious. Someone was telling me the other day that they wished they'd make a fighting engine that'd be like fallout, but without the predetermined hex "squares", where you could move anywhere. I don't think that's true though. I liked the little he squares. I mean, was it just me, or did fallout's battles have a lovely, wonnderful chess feel about them?
Dreadlord
05-04-2005, 11:04 PM
Yeah, everything was all organized and pretty, I like the hex squares too, they were perfect for aiming grenades & rockets, not only that, you can see where a grenade or rock was going to fly.

Spooksm that is the theme from Runehq, is it not?
Fallout is a must buy, and with the patch works fine of WinXP. I think the patch was included in later releases of the game.

Definately one of the greatest games ever. The opening cut scene is a classic!
Dogmeat was the best companion I ever had.

Nope! I haven't a clue what forums those are!
I've tried this demo on a bunch of Win XP comuters, and none of them have failed to run it with Win 95 compatability turned on... Regardless, the actual game ran fine for me without any patches or special modes whatsoever.
I haven't played tactics, although I have it lying around here somewhere... probably should at some point..!
Hey its my first post and its about Fallout, what a good start. Fallout definately sets the standard for a true RPG. I havenīt seen another like it. The storyline is spetacular, there are many possible ways to do/get what you want and the endings are great. Truly the best. Really deservs a remake with all the new graphics and tecnology around today.

Well only buy the Fallout Games (1 + 2 - Fallout Tactics is not the same) if you want one of the most rewarding experieces ever from playing a computer game.
Only buy them if you want many peoples greatest RPG game ever, including mine (Don't worry , Planescape Torment is arm in arm with Fallout, but Fallout wins thanks to the wonderful visuals of guts and arms and legs and crap(literally) flying all over the place)
Only buy Fallout if you wan't a game with regards to gameplay, that is about as real as anything you could wish for. I am still not the same after I massacred a whole town, I had to reload the game to an earlier save, the death every single person in the town was too much for my conscience. I have too high morals, but they were wrong to attack me in the first place, I needed all weapons and supplies that I took, ... er borrowed from the kind store keeper.
