does anyone know if it's abandonware?

I'm pretty sure it is (not 100%, though), and if that's the case it should definitely be on the site. I love that game.

But untill then, I believe HOTU has it.

:help: I feel sort of ashamed, but that makes it even more important to ask: could someone recomend a screenshot aking method/program? this is one of those games (like fallout) where PrintScreen just turns up black.

get irfanview (http://www.irfanview.com/) or find HypersnapDX for screenies. We'll need the game to be uploaded, by the way - we can't (and wouldn't anyway) just use HotU's

Or, under DosBox, press Ctrl-F5

I'll look for it on some old game compilation CDs in a computer store tommorow after studies. BTW can someone tell me where to upload things? (I know I have to use some FTP, but I couldn't get an address or anything else)

Hypersnap DX is top notch for Windows. For DosBox -the built in function. For pure Dos - an old freeware version of Screen Thief.

Yes, contact Kosta. And refer to Painless FTP tutorial (http://www.abandonia.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=2908) for further step-by-step instructions.

That or VThief.I have found that you can get some lock up errors while Screen Thief is loaded into the memory

I would like to post a request for an old title that I unfortunatly don't know the name of, only it's content. I hope someone will be able to get that "Aha! I know that one"-feeling when I name it's content.

The game i'm speaking of is from the mid 90:s, a turn based strategy title with a science fiction setting. You play as one of several different factions with different attributes. I think the game had a hex-based overhead map, but i'm not entirely sure about that. A big part of the game was diplomacy, with alliances, assasination, trade and the like, but since it is a strategy title, warfare was of course the main ingredient.

The most memorable thing I can recollect was that when you end your turn and all the other factions end theirs, you get illustrated reports of the different events that have occured. For instance, when someone got assasinated you see a fat man laying dead in bed with a female assasin (that I do believe was bald too). A lot of other images were shown too, which was one of the things that made the game so memorable (if only the title was as well).

I hope someone has any ideas about what this game can be because I have scoured through many abandonware-sites to find it and i'm getting kinda tired of it

hmm it's a wild shots but could it be master of orion (http://abandonia.com/en/games/101/Master+of+Orion.html), master of orion 2 (http://www.mobygames.com/game/windows/master-of-orion-ii-battle-at-antares/screenshots)? supermacy (http://abandonia.com/en/games/283/Supremacy+-+Your+Will+Be+Done.html) or ascendacy (http://abandonia.com/en/games/221/Ascendancy.html)? or maybe reunion (http://abandonia.com/en/games/150/Reunion.html)?

Old windows game released in 1996. True gem if you ask me, although there are many bugs even after several patches. Based on popular board game.
http://www.mobygames.com/game/emperor-of-the-fading-suns

Now, although game is old one, you can only download a demo and patches on the site of Holistic Design (creators of the game), but I don't see that game is sold at all. Actually, it seems that only interest Holistic Design has is for the original board game (and their official site seems inactive for couple of years).
I checked the net and found only people selling their own original used packages. I presume that game can be treated as abw but I would like for someone else to check it.

Also, game is for Win not DOS, but I'm guessing that it is not really a problem.

If game is abw, I would supply review and shots :)

thanks

This is my first post but I have been racking my brain trying to search or remember this game for about a month now, so at this point i don't care if im considered a leach or whatever. its not even that i want to know what the name is, its that i NEED to(anyone ever feel like this?).

So lets start off with the diplomacy, there where four teams that the player could pick(i keep thinking they where named after roman houses) and two that only the comp could play as(one was a sorta infestation and the other was a religion based society that owned "Holy Terra"(earth)), each player had four(i think) flags at there home world which represented one vote each. the flags could be taken from other players which would be taking there votes when voting time came around. When the voting time came around the four players would vote for themselves or for someone else and who ever got the most won the seat as something like a temporary emperor or something, he could then give one of three positions to the other 3 players or even appoint himself one thus leaving one without a seat. If the voting ended in a tie nothing would change. The positions where a royal type fleet, some spy network that had a base on each home world, and the defenders of the infected part of the galaxy (three planets and one where the defenders base is at). You could threaten the others into giving you the votes(never worked for me) or promise to give them one of the seats(also never worked for me). there where some other things also but i don't remember much more.

The units..... as far as i remember... alot. Some notable ones where the basic soldier and anti tank, they where 2 of the basic ones you could make almost anywhere. there where sea ships, all i seam to remember though where transport sea ships. there was a research you could do to enable you to make one of the infestation units, it was like a giant green elephant bug mix or something. there where power armored units with a variety of strengths and weaknesses.

Now about the map, the map was galaxy view and you could zoom into the planets, the planet view was hex base i think but the planets where kinda big.

I don't remember much about the types of resources but you needed some of the basic ones so you could make more advance resources so you can then make better units.

Oh also some researches like the one for the bug elephant make Holy Terra pissed at you cause they say its sacrilegious or something.

That's about all i remember about the game, any help would be great.

Also i did go through the forums and site looking for the game or a request for the game but didn't find it, but i have a idea for people requesting a game can do as i and a few others have done and name the genre and things like puzzle strategy or steam punk or what ever is in the game, so others don't go making 15 different posts for one game cause everyone is going "name of game?" in the title box.

I know all offically licensed Wh40k games and this fits none of them.

You might want to check Emperor of the Fading Suns (http://www.mobygames.com/game/emperor-of-the-fading-suns), it seems pretty close to your description.

Other possible matches are MegaTraveller (http://www.abandonia.com/en/games/660/MegaTraveller+1+-+The+Zhodani+Conspiracy.html), MegaTraveller 2 (http://www.abandonia.com/en/games/851/MegaTraveller+2+-+Quest+for+the+Ancients.html), Space (http://www.mobygames.com/game/space-i) and Space 2 (http://www.mobygames.com/game/space-ii).

RIGHT!!!
You'll get archive soon, but you will have to wait for in-depth review since I'm working on other games now. This game should be added for some special occasion, since this is unique game, a diamond, one and only, etc etc etc :3:

I guess it would be a crime not to publish this game in AT...
