Tryied this demo age ago.
Noticed it was 3D.
Immediatly closed it, uninstalled aforementioned demo and deleted it from my HD.

Because it was 3D? That's like saying a movie will suck complete behind before any footage is released.

That's the way it should be, stick the old formula, while making it fresh.

Agreed. The good old concept with stunning new execution. :ok:

The Geoscape looks awesome though... But I'd prefer another Fallout Tactics (good old 2-D) for the Fallout series than another Fallout: BOS (lousy 3-D). I'll try the demo and see how that feels.

Only one thing to say: UFO: Aftermath.
I rest my case.
Besides if it's 3D then you automatically lose the old game appeal since the view become a factor which alter tactics and strategies. I also beleive you can't stick to an old formula (i.e. a formula claimed to be a true classic years ago) and "keep it fresh" at the same time... Either do something like Xcom or just do another game is what I think.

3-D would be good if you kept it isometric, just with rotation so that you can actually see where your own grenades landed.
It would be nice if it had real sounds too.

Aftermath is in 3D but it still plays basically like the old 2D ones, and the geoscape in the first 2 rotated anyway in pseudo-3D. I like it.

This game wasn't even related to X-com, besides, because one game sucked doesn't mean another one will, the developers just did an atrocious job.

I did not get that game, even I love all UFO related game. And I can't find it in local game sotres. So probably was so bad...
This looks interesting, as it will not hurt my eyes to get somethings better looking, but still playable as old game. :D

It was average, most said.
Gamespot gave it a 6.4
If you can find it cheap you should still buy it.

Most of games I buy lately are 10 bucks . (bought AVP2 week ago) Used games are between 5.99 and 20 bucks, depending on title, but I preffer new one. :)

I would personally never rate UFO: Aftermath higher than 60%...
Dreadlord

Personally indeed, neither would I.
But I have faith in this remake, there's some freeware out there right now that's the quality of a full retail product.

Wait what???? The full title of Fallout Tactics is "Fallout Tactics: Brotherhood of Steel". What do you mean?

Think mebbie he means the x-box version? I've never played the x-box version, but there's a Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel (No tactics in the title) for x-box.
Dreadlord

Yeah, there was a pretty sucky Fallout game for consoles, I think he's talking about that, it didn't even play like PC Fallout.
F: BOS? more like F: POS (Piece of sh1t)

True, true.
It was quite terrible, I have no idea why they even decided to make it.
I actually noticed there's a small similarity between the way Fallout & X-com play.

Hmm ,strange I believe it is possible to keep the old gamemechanics while using a 3-d engine etc.
I like it :ok:

! I meant the crappy Xbox game and the PC game. The Xbox game is a hack-em-up-into-tiny-pieces, the PC game is a tactical combat game... Kinda like the first UFO-game's combat system, in my opinion :tomato:.

Dunno. Eagle of Fire would 100% scream NOOOOO!!!!!!! LOL :tomato:
There is too many whole diferent opinions about it.
Tactical combats are VERY hard, geospace is simplified ad absurdum but,it has also few originals ideas and tactical combats are really nice.
I really dont know
.You might buy it and love it.Or you might buy it and hate it...

I did not like Master of Orion 3, while I loved 1 and 2.
I might wait for this game to go down to 10 bucks, as most of other titles did.
Actualy I will check couple of other stores.

Even tough 20 bucks is pretty cheap I would be inclined to say no. But if you want to try it then knock yourself out. :)

I like it - been replaying it recently. Not as much depth as the others, but easier to get into. I'd try and get it a bit cheaper than $20.

04-04-2005, 09:05 PM
Get it for 5, 5 is a good number, and cheap.
I didn't play it for long, got too bored.
DeathDude

Yeah if you look around, you'll prob find a cheaper price, especially once you factor in shipping and whatnot if you order online from places.
