Anyone know where to find what your sound card settings are?? Ex.. IRQ DMA channel I/O address...some games require that information to get the sound working. I'm using win 98 :help:

that depends on the type of your sound card. older models had their ressources set by hardware jumpers (small black connectors on the soundboard), newer ones have some sort of software to configure the settings. soundblaster cards are often set to I/O220 or I/O240, IRQ7 or IRQ5, and DMA1. there may be I/O388 required for MIDI-output too.

Another possibility is to find a game that has an installation program, which is able to detect the soundcard's parameters automatically and note them then. This is an easy method if you have an old soundcard an do not want to open your computer searching for the jumpers.

If they're already set, you can try typing SET at the command prompt. There should be a line "BLASTER=I5 D5 H220" or something if I'm not mistaken.

If you go to the device manager, you should be able to get the settings by checking the properties of the soundcard!

Look at the second post here (http://www.abandonia.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=2743), at the quoted guide in the end.
