And here is the first one in sports section - shotput:

Here with transparent background (unfortunately with a few yellow fields). I couldn't copy/paste the picture above so if you're sharp-eyed you can see little differences because I had to repeat the effect on transparent background.

See this picture on dark background (http://www.nrg.to/Luchsen/kugel.htm)

selfcensored

 Another few little changes and it looks perfect.

The first two versions are very interesting, I like them very much. The shading, the filter, the colors, all come together to make a very interesting piece (in progress?).

The last, I have to be honest, I really don't like.

With the filter you've used on the second, and removing the clothing, the colors of the piece as a whole have lost quite a bit of the lightness that made them really interesting. It doesn't have as much interest now.

The dark triangle is too geometric in comparison with the rest of the piece, which means.... guess where your attention is focused? Also, there's not enough points of interest (using color, etc.) to draw your attention to other parts of the piece, so guess where the attention stays focused?

And somehow, that makes the piece more vulgar to me than artistic. And I would like to say that I personally collect female nudes, and draw them myself, so it's not complete bias, I just think I don't like the way this has been presented. (although I'm not really certain that this forum is the best place to present such things as full nudes, either).

Maybe try a different filter, add something to take the attention throughout the piece, rather than drawn to one part of it?

I hope you don't take this too offensively, it's meant to help more than anything else. But, this is the longest and most complex critique I've given in the art forum, so go you :ok: ;)

Not to mention you drew the black rectangle on top of the texture, bringing it out in front even more.

:D No, I don't. I also don't like it. It was only a fast, rough work thought as a joke. But I noticed that I could (and maybe will) make more out of this idea. Thanks for your critique so I have clues for working with it. :ok:

about the nude version above... i know, i asked for it, but i haven't expected that
you really give it a try :sneaky: anyway...i appreciate the effort, however i have
to agree with tai and kon-tiki. but as you mentioned, that you have a remake of
this in mind, i'm looking forward to this...but remember: not too much nutidity on
abandonia :sneaky:

as for the high jump, i can't see a big difference between those pics, except the
first one's slightly darker than the second. maybe you could try some other filters
or experiment on colouring a little bit?

other than this...nice stuff, luchsen :)!

i love your style man, your using the fitlers in PS in a new and interesting way, altering it yourself rather than just running a few filters. love the new one.

I know, I know... Couldn't decide between the pictures because they are so similar (I like the brighter complexion more but the contrast to the bar is not so good). For the colouring: I should slow down a bit so that I have more time to colour around here a bit and there a bit and...

About the high jump... I prefer the lighter one, but something I noticed, some of the tiles (you used the tile filter, right?) are randomly off-color(the green in the right shoe?), probably due to the shading in those areas, giving tiny lack of consistency.

But still, it's a very cool idea, I like it, and keep up the good work :ok:

Did you do this one, or is this a resource pic? :D

Luchsen

Resource pic for outlines as I don't know how a high jumper looks when he is jumping. :D

taikara

hummies, maybe a smaller tile size would make the tile coloration less random-seeming? :)

Luchsen
31-03-2005, 04:56 PM
Probably, but then it would lose some effects (in my opinion) and the structured oversimplification I wanted would disappear.

Since it seems that _r.u.s.s. cannot live without my "art" a new vernissage is arriving, titled Scribblings.

First you get a magnifying glass to have a good luck, er, look:

http://img263.imageshack.us/img263/5136/lupe2ff4.png

Then, would you please follow the guide, Knoerg ... where actually is he?! Ah, there:

http://img177.imageshack.us/img177/3746/knoerg3ry8.png

But beware of the dogs (or whatever they might be)! You don't know what a dog is? That are dogs:

http://img66.imageshack.us/img66/1756/zweiviehcher3kq6.png

NOW WHAT IS THAT AGAIN? Looks like a bonsai with root ball, a pokemon from the Galapagos Islands, a king of an one-man monarchy, a new form of Roman candle and, I don't know, a high-end manicured fingernail?

http://img66.imageshack.us/img66/7613/wunderland2dy7.png

THIS IS A VERNISSAGE YOU GALAPAGAN BRAT! OUCH! DON'T BITE THE CHIEF, EH?! RELEASE MY FINGER! ... Where have I stored the plasters?

Can't find them.
It also seems that we can't find the artworks, I'm sorry. Please get on the transporter behind the unidentified person there:

http://img66.imageshack.us/img66/5387/transportnemo2id2.png

No, it is not the Mitsubishi from Wheels on Meals with Jackie Chan, Yuen Biao, Sammo Hung and other Opera Brothers.
It's the Everyone's Home shuttle bus which will take you to your homes.
