Is The Larry Series Worth The Download?

Hi there again,

I have been taking the advice of several memebers of this board and have downloaded quite a few of their recommendations, such as the Space quest and King's quest games.

Now for my question is the Larry series worth it ... I don't know much about the game, but I do know it revolves around a "loser" trying to get with a girl :whistle:

Is the game a little cheesy - or is it a really good adventure? Is it what I am expecting - a brainless-vulgar waste of time?

It's not a vulgar waste of time...
I think Larry 2 is the thoughest adventure game in the series...
Ohter are quite nice, but there are many better adventures out there.

Larry's designed to stay as far as possible from vulgarity. There's not even any explicity. It's basically 'bout a weak guy being pushed around by strong women while he's trying to get laid (which never shows or gets described or anything like that) I've played the game when I was 8 and it didn't shock me in any way. I've played it a few times while growing up, and it never shocked me then either (nor did I find anything inappropriate)

Thanks guys for clearing that up. I had the idea, from what I heard/read, that it was some kind of cheap sex game.

Would you say then that the Larry series is worth a play through? About on par with Police, King's and Space quest games?

P.S. Kon-Tiki I'm not worried of it shocking me :bleh: I just wanted to know if it is going to be worth my time to download it and play it. I was expecting it to be some kind of "japanese" game :angel:

And no I know absolutely nothing about those "japanese" games :whistle:

Yeah, LSL is very far from those 'japanese' games (p.s. you can say hentai.). Though at times it show le boobs, so its not all that great around family.

That'd be the latest one... Leisure Suit Larry 8: Magna Cum Laude (or Loude, I dunno, and don't really care). That game's generally concidered as an insult to the series. As for showing boobs... can't really remember that. At least not completely uncovered. If it happens, it's a very rare thing.

i installed larry 8 but didn't play very far cause the 3D thing put me off...

I think nr. 5 is the best in the series cause it's cartoony and you can play both patty(?) and larry...

I don't think the Larry games are vulgar, excactly. But they are a bit on the raunchy side, and personally I loved them. My favourite in the series is number 6, but if you're like me you'll do them chronologically.

Decent series I suppose, it's not a bad game to play if you like what's already been mentioned, I liked playing it.

Larry is a great series, for me, it's not easy, and yes you can se boobs, but most of the times it's not the part of the game it's more like a 'treat' for those who know...

I liked 7 the most, and as for the last, it's pretty hot(as in chicks), but it's not an adventure-quest, it's a sort of arcade... a disgrace
