Wow this is a great site. I found many of my old favorites and decided to take the day off from work tomorrow to dig into some of them :) Anyway, I really loved the first two Gabriel Knight games from Sierra and it would be awesome if you could get those. Also there was a game by Lucas called Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (Adventure). Thanks for a great site.

Gabriel Knight 2 is 6CD's large and therefore far too big to upload on abandonia. Gabriel Knight 1 might be uploaded in the future but as of now I know of no-one preparing to do so.

Hey, we all do mistakes, if we didn't, what where we to talk about in the forum? ;)

If you like Indiana Jones, And The Fate Of Atlantis, there is a review on abandonia, but no download (Don't ask me why). If you wan't to play it anyway, it can be downloaded on the Classic Gaming Archive (http://www.cgarchive.com/Game.php?view=65). :ok:
As you might guess, by the look of my avatar, I love that game! B) :D

I have found a site with Gabriel Knight 1 and the CD (talkie) version of Fate of Atlantis.
I'm not sure if they're legally abandonware though, so what's the forum's policy on linking to non-AW software? I won't give the link unless I'm allowed to.
EDIT: Damn, Gabriel's in Spanish. I don't suppose anyone knows if there's a language option, or does it just come in different one-language versions?

Well, I've found GK1 three times in French, twice in German, once in Spanish, and... in English! I thought it was broken at first, but it turned out the archives weren't extracting properly. WinRAR did the job right though.
So hey, I have it, if anyone wants it.
EDIT: They have GK3: Blood of the Sacred, Blood of the Damned in a second hand games shop for ?3.99. Worth getting?
Jumjalum

GK1 was only on one CD, there's also a floppy version of it thats about 15MB or so. It would be perfect for this site, since its the best of the Sierra adventures imo.
GK3 was a mixed bag for me - the story just wasn't as interesting until the very end and the interface wasn't much fun. It feels like a diluted version of GK1 without the voodoo coolness. The vampire stuff was cool, but there was so little of it the game felt more like a geography field trip than an exciting adventure in the paranormal. The plot, puzzles, humour, atmosphere, music and voices were not as good as the original. For ?3.99 its probably worth it if you're a GK fan though, lots of people love this game but personally it was disappointing.
GK1>GK2>GK3
btw I have the graphic novel that came with the game in pdf format if anyone wants a look, it's a great scene-setter for the game (another thing that the sequels didn't have). Hmm.. on further inspection its seems GK3 did come with a graphic novel, dont remember one for GK2 but I wouldn't count on my memory.

So when it`s just 15 MB i would love to see that game coming on the site...it`s IMO on of the better adventures ever made..

Its not available for download because its still being sold by Lucasarts. CGA should not offer it for download if they consider themselves an abandonware site. There are only 2 big companies that still sell their own old games and these are Lucasarts and 3D Realms (Apogee), so their games are a BIG no-no

Phantasmagoria can't possibly be that big  Too old for it.
...
Just checked Mobygames. It's indeed 7cds  That's unbelievably much for its time. Still don't know any game from nowadays with that many cds.
Also just checked my torrent of GK1 with extras. 606Mb big, that one. Checking what the extras are... GK1 on Windows XP-filer, Speech Thing (don't ask me what that is), walkthroughs, maps and a cd patch. Game itself seems to be an ISO, so I guess it's a cd version. Wasn't that an example of extraordinary deduction

Phantasmagoria is about the same size as most games of the same genre at the time (FMV-games)
It contains loads and loads of movies so I guess that explains the size.
Oh and it Isn't Phantasmagoria 2 either... that abomination 'only' had 6 cds of terrible gameplay

ONLY 6 CD`s??
why i`m remembered all wrong???...
But ok...in PM 2 i only made it to the second level...where ya could play with the woman (if i remember correctly this time)..
i hate the second part...Way to difficult for me...like the time you need the code for his computer and you need to look at a picture of his animal (BOB or BLOB if i remember it well) and then you need to understand that the name of his animal is the code for the computer..

I don't quite understand what you mean with play.
play as in control, or play as in have sex.
because at the start of chapter 2 you do have sex with some woman.
It is quite a sick game, however
wormpaul
20-10-2004, 07:50 PM
Hmm...when i`m correct you play in Phantasmagoria 2 with a woman (like the way you control her as a character...)
And about the sex: I saw only in PM 1 a sex scene on the 4 cd...the part where you Rape your wife (sick game...indeed)...didnt reach to the sex in part 2 (and also never saw the crime when the mother or father is hitting there childeren...That must be real sick...but still a game...

NOOOOOOOOOOO>..
You dont play as a women in part 1...
Or am i wrong now....
Maybe i`m confusing it with the game where you start with a guy with long hair and you need to find a key to the car and read the letter in the mirror all to see what`s standing there...
Was that phantasmagoria or was that a other game???
Man...getting sick of it...need those games again to refresh memory

Now I think you are talking about Gabriel Knight again  ... gabriel Knight 2 perhaps
lets try this:
http://www.rolemaker.dk/documents/Requirements/BA_GameReference/screenshots/phantasmagoria/adv_phantasm_screen01.jpg
Phantasmagoria I.
Main Character: Adrienne
Plot: Couple moves into a huge mansion built by a famous Dark Illusionist named Karno (or Karnovash)
After some exploring Adriennde releases a demon which posesses her husband, like it posessed Karno so many years ago.
Slowly, as Adrienne's husband sinks deeper into maddness, Adrienne begins to discover the dark and terrible history of the Karnovash Estate and Karnovash's many wives.
Phantasmagoria II
http://anthonylarme.tripod.com/phantas/boxp2b.jpg
Meet Curtis Craig... freak.
The game is a mess.
It blends loads of issues ranging from dark experiments into different dimensions, insanity, aliens, zombies and whatnot.
To explain the story would be just too damn difficult.
While Phantasmagoria 1's controversial issues are geared towards violence as seen in the following images:
http://anthonylarme.tripod.com/phantas/hortdie2.jpghttp://anthonylarme.tripod.com/phantas/regdie.jpg
http://anthonylarme.tripod.com/phantas/cabotl1.jpghttp://anthonylarme.tripod.com/phantas/hardead.jpg
http://anthonylarme.tripod.com/phantas/gross1.jpg
Phantasmagoria 2 had more sex scenes ranging from soft-core to rather hard-core S&M

Ok..now i remember it ...thx very much Stroggy...
I played Phantasmagoria Part 1 and 2 (2 only fot the first 10% i think..or less)
And then the other game must be Gabriel Knight (part 1 or part 2)...there you start playing as a guy..
Still 1 question left:
Was the subtitel of phantasmagoria: The Beast within??
Stroggy
22-10-2004, 03:54 PM
no
thats the title of a Gabriel Knight (don't remember if its the first game or the second... I think the second one... the one with the werewolves)
Phantasmagoria 1 was jsut Phantasmagoria
The Niles
22-10-2004, 05:21 PM
Gabriel Knight 2 has the subtitle "the beast within". It's all about werewolves. Gabriel Knight has the subtitle "Sins of the father". I have finished part two but never part one.
Phantasmagoria 2 btw is called Phantasmagoria: "A puzzle of Flesh". For some reason it does not have the moniqer "2".

Not all games on ebay are used, check the descrpition of the seller to see if you are dealing with a new or used copy.
It is doubtfull that any shop still sells GK2. Maybe there are still some rerelease copies floating around but I doubt even that.
Jumjalum

GK2 was scheduled for a rerelease in some online stores on budget, but they took it down a couple of weeks before release. I guess they were put off by the 6 CD thing so I would advise getting it from eBay.

Hello :) I liked the Gabriel Knight games, but for some reason I found them boring after a while. (I haven't play 2 yet, but I think this one might be the best of the three. It won game of the year when it was released.) We have another thread requesting the Gabriel Knight games, but there's some problem with getting them onto the site. I think the second game, eg, is six CDs in size, and the first one is one CD. Several had a rip version, but wasn't the opinion reached that these games weren't abandoned? Will check and see.

Yeah those are great games. Shame people are missing out on playing them. For me the Gabriel Knight series was my favorite Sierra adventure game series since it was darker in tone and had suspense and horror elements than I found refreshing in contrast to the lighter King's Quest/Space Quest/Quest For Glory etc franchises. The voice acting, especially in the first game, was really good. The female lead voice character was done by actress thats on the King of Queens CBS TV series, if I remember correctly.
Too bad there were only 3 games in the series. I still might have the box art and manuals in my garage somewhere. I think the first Gabriel Knight game came with a comic book. GB2 and 3 I don't remember if they came with anything fancy besides a regular manual.
BlackMageJawa

GK 1&3 had short graphic novels to go with them. Both of which are on HOTU under the extras section of the relevant game.
There is also a novel version of Sins of the Fathers, which was included in the Gabriel Knight Mysteries box set, and I think there's a Beast Within novel too. BTW, if anyone knows where I can find copies of those novels online (like in .rtf, .pdf or .doc format), I'd be extremely happy (assuming that request doesn't break any of Abandonia's legality rules, of course)

I dont understand why conquests of camelot is portected if it is older and has "less quality" than conquest of the longbow which is not protected. oo and also another game I remember playing, but I'm not too sure if it was DOS based or if it is protected is Full Throttle. Would that one be a possibility?

Conquest of the Longbow is also protected. Some times we get direct permission to host games. We haven't any permission to host Conquest of Camelot. That would send ESA knocking on our door.

First of all, thank you Frodo for this!!:1stplace::cheekkiss:
I got the one from the ISO cellar and did everything and unrared the file. Now is this the actual ISO file starting from the first directory? For example the first directory is called Gabriel_Knight_1_Game_-_Patched. Do I start the ISO creation here or do I need to go further into the next directories to start the ISO creation?

What is the ISO cellar? And where the heck to I find it. I have the floppy version of this amazing game, but it keeps crashing in day 5 sp I would love to try downloading the cd rom version.
