I was a little shaky about starting a new thread, but what the heck I searched to see if there was any topic like this. So if there is please just delete this thread and call me stupid. :D
Well let me get this one rolling. Does anyone remember Fallout and Fallout2? Great post nuclear war (hence fallout) RPG. Third person setting with more contols than you could shake a stick at. I am not quite sure if this is considered abandonware.
I do know however that LHX Attach Helicopter is abandonware and I would be happy to upload it along with a review and screenshots if anyone is interested.
Happy gaming and I love the site! :ok:

To answer your questions:
a)No this doesn't belong here... solved
b)Fallout has been discussed like 5 times before, so no go
c)I wanted to upload/review lhx, but it's been like 8 years since i last played it, so it would require me some time before i'd finish the review. Therefore i advise you to review it :ok: , it's people like you who keep the site running
Happy reviewing

fallout series are not abandonware.
with the fall of interplay the license has been bought up by others and fallout 3 is in production (think its bethasoft thats doing it)
fallout 1 and 2 will never be abandonware imo. go buy them for ?5 from soldout software (think they have a website) +
Havell

Yeah, the fallout games are not abandoned but they are very cheap, well worth the money, especially if you can get the Fallout collection (all three games).
Yobor
22-03-2005, 05:54 PM
Somehow, magically, I have original shelf-copies of all three games :D
But uploading your games is a great thing to do!
on the fallout not being abw issue, when they run out of stock permanently, they will be abw as bethesda only bought the rights to do 1/2/3 fallout games and they didn't get the original licences (which went down with interplay). and sold out software did carry it, i can't find any copies from them online now. the only place that sells the original online is cd access as far as i know

For example Chips&Bits (http://www.chipsbits.com) carries Fallout 1&2, too. I'm sure it's possible to find more webstores with them through the links at this thread (http://www.abandonia.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=3287).

It's frequently requested, but it's still sold, I'm afraid. See this post (http://www.abandonia.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=3424) for details.

Yes it is sad. They are under protection and anyway would be far too large for the site.

Sold Out sell them for ?5 each, I might buy them myself this month.
Try them.

We should definately make a sticky that states in huge letters for the title that the games are still sold, that might stand a chance of curbing a new topic being started every week or so. <_<

But we already have a thread like that:  http://www.abandonia.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=3424. How much more obvious can you get?
Calamity
10-06-2005, 12:27 PM
Aye but the majority of folks requesting the game don't seem to take the time to look at said topic, if we had an announcement stating it in the title alone and simply made it a closed topic perhaps it would get through.
BeefontheBone
10-06-2005, 12:31 PM
Couldn't have one of those for every game though, the requests stickies would be several pages long then.
A. J. Raffles
10-06-2005, 12:34 PM
Besides, "read this before you post a request" is about as obvious as you can get without having topic titles in ALL CAPS, right?http://mordor.uni.cc/forum/style_emoticons/default/dntknw.gif
BeefontheBone

Can't have them in all caps anyway, it autoformats them to have caps at the beginning of words only to stop people posting irritating threads like "WHO R THE ESA? THEY R THE SUXX0RS!!1!!"

It seems to have been published by Renegade, so it wouldn't be ESA-protected. Unfortunately, it's still sold at CD Access (http://www.cdaccess.com/html/quick/zpr.htm).

Entomorph: Plague of the Darkfall (http://www.mobygames.com/game/windows/entomorph-plague-of-the-darkfall) = Mindscape = ESA Protected
Warlords II (http://www.mobygames.com/game/dos/warlords-ii) = Stratetic Simulations, Inc. = ESA Protected
One Step Beyond (http://www.mobygames.com/game/dos/one-step-beyond) = Abandonware
Third Dimention = I dunno. The only game I found was Atmosfear.
TFX: Tactical Flight Experiment (http://www.mobygames.com/game/dos/tfx) = Abandonware
Dragon's Lair (http://www.mobygames.com/game/dos/dragons-lair) = Abandonware

Back in the days before ESA incident, I actually requested for Entomorph: Plague of the Darkfall here, because the one in HOTU was ripped so badly it was unplayable in several places. I have never been able to finish that game because of that. Oh well... Anyway, it's best to avoid all ESA-protected games. Dragon's Lair, however, if it is really an abandonware, should be a nice addition to this site.

:ot:

How big is the Dragon's Lair? I estimate I will have some free time (as in finish playing Delphine Software's Darkstone) in the next several days (by early next week to be more precisely), so perhaps I can help you to play it and then write the review if it is not too big (meaning if it is < 10MB it can be sent as an attachment to my friend's gmail account).
Fawfulhasfury
23-06-2005, 02:38 AM
Dragons Lair is NOT ABW. I've seen it sold in Gamestop and EB Games a million times in a value pack of all the Dragon's Lair games, and it's also a Don Bluth game, which heightens the likely hood that it's not ABW and is in fact owned by Universal.
rabadi
23-06-2005, 03:44 AM
Well, if Dragon's Lair is not abandonware, then forget about it. I don't want to jeopardize my Abandonia membership status as well as Abandonia site itself. Better keep it safe than sorry :sneaky:

Games that are definitely not abandoned. (http://www.abandonia.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=3424)
Altough CD-Access shows up only 1 copy left of Fallout 1, the game would definitely be far too large for the site, weighing in well over 400 MB.
Next time please check using the search function (http://www.abandonia.com/forum/index.php?act=Search&f=3) first, so that you don't unknowingly request something that has been discussed to death a dozen times over before.

With Fallout 3 coming out in October, I thought that I might as well ask for permission to upload the original Fallout. I didn't see it in the oldwarez list.
If not, I'll be glad to review it.
Well like. Um...er...
Im not smart, BUT to my understanding, the game is still being sold, and is about to be being sold (G.O.G) So therefore, too not have the site shut down, or have to fight legal quarals or whatever, those ppl who runz it can't upload the Game legally...
And it's probably also protected by ESA (? Not sure?)

Im not sure about the ESA protection, but as long as it being sold or supported by someone, its a definite no go.

You should improve your typing skills.
Since Bethesda bought the rights in and to Fallout, unlimited protection applies for the series.

Not true, for the first time in history, let it be known, that Bethesda has given out a NICE email reply!
On the Bethesda Softworks forums, i made a thread about TES for DS, and when I vouched for them to create it, they simply said something like this;
"Sorry, at the time being, we have no immidiate plans to create a TES game for the Nintendo DS. If that status changes you'll probably be one of the first too know."
I was like 'WHOA!' cause everyother email i'ver recieved from them was mean.
Someone could email Bethesda, here: www.bethsoft.com Go to the contact tab, and click 'Email' And ask if they'll be doing a promotional offer for FO3 by releasing FO1 FO' FREE!!one!!11
Anyways, thats all....

If such a selfish company as EA could release Red Alert and C&C 1 as freeware for promotional purposes, i don't see why Bethesda couldn't. G.O.G can go fuck himself if they don't co-oporate :D

That is so horribly incorrect, Fallout 1 takes place in 2161, while Fallout 3 takes place in 2277, that's more than 100 years apart.
Besides, it's impossible for Fallout 3 to be a real sequel because it's so incredibly anachronistic that it can only be justified with an alternate timeline scenario, which would be utter bullshit and wouldn't even be a canonical part of the series.
No vats of FEV exist anywhere else other than that which was destroyed, the Military Base, the Enclave, poof, gone. What did the Super Mutants do? Somehow survive for +100 years? Sure, their bodies regenerate to the point of immortality, but their brain cells still rot and they get dumber, they're either brain dead or completely extinct by this point.
Factor in that the only way for FEV to reach the east coast is if the Super Mutants carried a fucking five ton vat of FEV over to the east coast, a substance that is so potent that it can affect people that merely stand a few hundred feet away from it (see Harold).
Not only that, but there are centaurs in Fallout 3, centaurs were exclusively created by the Master as his pets, they should not exist in the wastes, much less the east coast as they're just wild animals that were created liberally by the Master on the west coast.
It makes no sense, I'm certain that they stuck these creatures in as fan service, but in doing so they've only made the game more of a contradictory mess. It's absolutely impossible to seriously believe that they were this dumb in regards to the lore.
