Hi,

I have settlers II running on Windows XP Pro, with the use of VDMSound to get the sound working. It all works great.

However, we bought a serial mouse to hook it up and play split-screen two player mode. When we try and start the game, a message comes up in the 'dos' prompt saying 'unknown mouse interrupt' and then it launches into the game. When we choose two-player, the first player's mouse works, but the second player's mouse does next-to-nothing. If you move the mouse around on your mousemat then every 5 seconds it may move an inch, but thats about it. It's obviuosly detecting the mouse in some respect, but I cant get it to work. Please help, and I will be eternally grateful!

System is:

PIII 800
256MB RAM
Windows XP Pro
VDMSound
Settlers Gold version
one mouse in PS/2 socket
other in Com1/com2.

Thanks

Russ

there is nothing else on the comport you mention ? like a modem or so ?
and it's enabled in the bios ?

On the otherhand XP is known for it's bad behaviour with port acces.

Else try plugging in the mouse after you started windows XP (you can do that with serial mouses) so that windows doesn' t detect it. but the game can

I'll try it tonight. Bit not sure if I can do it, as I don't have com port on my computer (but have ps2 and usb mouse)

the com ports are enabled, and tried a few different settings IRQ wise.

Only the driver for the ps2 mouse is installed (installing for the serial mouse means both mice control player one's cursor). The textfile points to only one driver being installed.

This comes up on the dos screen when startign settlers. It may be of use if anyone knows what the heck it means. ;)

"Mouse initiliasation: use mouse driver (unknown mouse type).
Additional path: .\.
11000000 bytes for game heap allocated
Mouse driver: version 8.00.
Mouse type: inport
mouse port: unknown mouse interrupt.

Dont know if this relates to the ps2 mouse or com mouse.

that error message is probably for you regular mouse. not the com mouse.
as it speaking of a driver versions so that goes for an installed mouse. not an addon mouse.
