Is it abandoned? I had it a long ago, I think it had no more than 30Mb.

strike commander is abandonware, and as a matter of fact we have it...
it is waiting for a worthy review, and as soon as this is done the game will
be available for download! :)

My bet is that the game is still sold, and even if it wasn't it would still be ESA Protected. No go!

Then why is it still on the "to be reviewed" list?

Chris

Maybe it will be added with a buy link. It's a great game after all.. :ok:

Any oldie games that you'd like on here but can't remember the name?

I have one. It's a flight sim. All I can remember is that it would call the folder Sc. And it has the word Strike in it. Anyone know what it's called?

Oh, right. It's too big for me to download. It'd take like 4hrs. I have a slow connection.

I used to have this game and the speech pack - I thought it was more fun than Privateer or Wing Commander as I was into the Microprose flightsims (if you're missing any, I'll check later).

If anyone could find this in their cupboard, I'd be very much appreciative.
In a platonic way, though.

Unless you're exceptionally hot.

Or a Sword Swallower or something...

That's the CD-ROM edition and it's still [PROTECTED] till 2010.

Anyways Strike Commander alone is [APPROVED]

The CD-ROM edition should be unprotected now!

Rock on, pilots! :rocks:

I am wondering if this game would be in the abandonware category since Origins is dead all the Wing Commander series is open to abandonware, and while it wasn't a big seller like Wing Commander I loved the game myself. It was a game set in the near future (don't remember if the date was actually given in the game) where mercenaries are the military forces to protect company interests, and governments are pretty much no existent, if I remember the story completely.

The cool part of this game was that you got to fly f-16's and MIG's you had to manage your merc groups funds to be able to field the payloads to meet the missions that you were given and it was a game I spent a lot of time in, along with Privateer (another game that is not on here if I remember right here, which should be done as well if it is not here!).

It's Origin, not Origins :p But yeah Strike Commander is awesome, though some of the missions and the controls can get frustrating.

I guess that I would hope that people would talk about the topic instead of get kind of elitist about everything but okay. Any way I have the game now so if is now abandonware I can post it or whatever.

As the other thread stated, protected until 2010, that means that the staff will surely check if it can be approved, but AFAIK the CD-ROM version is going to the Cellar. And to get back on topic, the only thing I really hated about it was that most of the missiles are pretty darn useless. They are costly, and everyone just dodges them with chaff and flare -_-"

Missile Fix (https://community.pcgamingwiki.com/files/file/922-strike-commander-cd-missile-fix/).

Just passing through as I'm improving my own game package. One of the things I save are abandonia's forum topics about games I package, in their entirety. I like to read other peeps opinions coz it gets me in the proper mood, like when I has in school and talked about games I played with old pals. And who knows what else I'll find.
Just happened to read the last post and I knew about the fix from before (though fix is rather new, from 2017) when I originally packed everything.

Anyways have fun with some proper "Fire n Forget".

Did you try to contact eXo? Known as eXoDOS (http://www.abandonia.com/vbullet/member.php?u=245309) here. He is most enthusiastic DOS-collector I ever seen in years. One of several who not simply collects all this games (as me, for example), but actually test them and adapt to usefulness.

There are many of our kind I am sure :OK:

pcgamingwiki.com (https://pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Home) and vogons.org (https://www.vogons.org/viewforum.php?f=33) are great resources to finding solutions to known and unknown problems respectively. Both are pretty much responsible for my 100% success rate at making plug & play packages of pre-2000 games, tuned to perfection.

Only sweet problem is I keep finding new stuff to add to packages I deemed complete... For example only a week ago I discovered tvtropes.org (https://tvtropes.org/), a site rich in various and interesting triva about even the most obscure of games. So at one point I'll have to update each package to include saved offline .mhtml page. Example (https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/VideoGame/StrikeCommander). It never ends :lame:
