The Kingdom of Loathing (http://www.kingdomofloathing.com)
Just a quick plug for my favourite MMOG.
- It's fun.
- It's free.
- Spend 5 minutes or 3 hours per day on it, it's still a hell of a lot of fun.
- It's got friendly people, and it's the people that make a MMOG.
- There's always some new content avalible.
- It doesn't take itself too seriously, almost the item descriptions and monsters are pop-culture references or just jokes.
So sign up today, it's free! When you're in send me a message, I'm "Trent Steele" :ok:

Well, then lets form a clan. :)
Havell
07-03-2005, 05:51 PM
Any ideas on what to call it? Just "The Abandonia Clan" would be a bit boring.
Fawfulhasfury
07-03-2005, 05:59 PM
Abandonia Aristocrats???
Abandonia Artisans????
Abandonian Adventurers??
Abandonian Knob-Goblins???
Eagle of Fire

Abadonned Archetypal Radical Gamers (AARG)? :D
Fawfulhasfury
07-03-2005, 08:01 PM
Try Abandonia Adventuring Radical Gamers??? It's easier to spell and understand.
Eagle of Fire
07-03-2005, 09:18 PM
I thought that the point was that it either made sense or was easy to spell... Kind of like the whole game.
Fawfulhasfury
07-03-2005, 09:19 PM
Ahh. Well, then. Your idea is awesome and I vote we use it. :)
Havell
07-03-2005, 09:21 PM
Yep, it's a good idea, I'll start up the Abadonned Archetypal Radical Gamers if you're sure that's OK? I'll pay for the things in the clan like the calender.
Oh, and I hope you liked your goodie-bag Fawful ;)

Havell
07-03-2005, 09:44 PM
A code is sent to your e-mail, when you enter your username and password in the login box for the first time you get sent back to the front page but there is now a box to enter your code, enter your username, password and code again to get in.
Fawfulhasfury

Sometimes it takes more than once to get to the code enter page, after you enter it and log in, you never have to enter the code again.

@calamity if you go into "account" on the top menu you can go into "manage your contact list, you type my name (Trent Steele) into the box then press OK. My name should appear on the list, if you click on "view profile" you can see my profile and you can scroll down to my clan, click on the link there and from that page you can apply to the clan.
EDIT: Iron, don't bother, Seal Clubbers are good :ok:
Calamity

Done and done. Your little stick man is absolutely wonderful Havell! :P
EDIT- I made my character ridiculously drunk to get more adventures so when I went back to one I ended up being so drunk that this happened:
"You can't quite remember what happened during this adventure, but you're pretty sure it involved some hot Gnoll chick.
Way to go, Tiger.
You lose 10 Meat."
Way too funny! LOL
Eagle of Fire
08-03-2005, 09:02 AM
Havell: I don't like "Fallen Phoenix"... It's the "Fallen" that I don't really like...
How about putting "the protector of the known world" instead? That's the name I have on MSN. :D
Edit: Calamity: Being drunk is not really a good thing, but I think that's when you get up to 15 drunkiness point that you can't adventure anymore. Food is good tough, so the best course of action would be to eat as much as you can (there is a limit), go adventure the rest of the day, then drink all you want. The adventures will add up from each day and 200 is the max I think. So you could stop playing for 5 days and come back with 200 adventures to do. :)
Havell
08-03-2005, 10:09 AM
I like the"You wake up in a a pile of... well, let's just say some of it is meat. You gain 3 meat."

I going to put a few of my stockpiled cocktails into the clan stash, please only take them when you need them and don't just hoard or sell them.
If any of you need any help or a little starter pack from me then just ask :)
Calamity, of course you can have a title! Just pick one, I can always change it later.
Eagle, your new title is "Protector of the Known World" it was short enough, good thinknig, hope you like it.
Lizard, I'll message you in game, if you have any specific problems I can help you with them either in this forum or via in game messages :ok:
Fawfulhasfury
08-03-2005, 03:48 PM

Calamity
08-03-2005, 03:53 PM
Could mine be "the killer queen Malkovich"? If that one's too big I'll gladly settle for "Killer Queen". Thanks a bunch Havell. :ok:
EDIT- Does the drunkeness wear off or can I find something that will cure it?
Havell
08-03-2005, 03:55 PM
There are some cocktails that obly a Disco Bandit (my class) can make, if you have some iingredients that you want made into a cocktail just give them to me. I have a bartender in a box in my campground so I don't use up any adventures making cocktails.
Fawful, I gave you a cocktailcrafting kit so you can mix cocktails but not the very advanced ones (that need the skill "advanced cocktailcrafting") and it will take you 1 adventure.
KoL Bartender's Guide (http://www.bellsouthpwp.net/e/p/epeterso2/KOL_Bartending_Guide.html) has information on what cocktails can be made with what items.
EDIT: Calamity's title has been changed :ok:
EDIT2: Drunkeness wears off at the end of the day, there used to be an item that would cure drunkeness (the sober pill) but that has been de-implemented as rich players were using them to get infinite adventures (and therefore infinite stats, etc).

I got it from strang guy but I am too suspicious to use it...
Fawfulhasfury
08-03-2005, 05:34 PM
Don't use those period at all. They adda an awesome but short lasting power boost, but then afterwards, you get the goofballs withdrawal which lasts a long time and causes your power to go down till the withdrawal is over.
Havell
08-03-2005, 05:38 PM
Goofballs give you 10 adventures of "Hopped up on goofballs" (doubles all stats) but after they are over there are 100 adventures of "Goofball withdrawal" (halves all stats). The only way to get rid of Goofball withdrawal is to either wait the 100 turns or have some more goofballs. The price of goofballs increases by 1,000 meat every time and if you have too many of them it starts lowering your level. The day they came out i saw the funniest thing ever, a guy in chat had had about 250 goofballs and he was out of money, he used to be level 20 but was reduced to level 1, he went around begging people to pay for his next dose so he could get his stats up. Someone gave him the money in the end LOL

Eagle of Fire
10-03-2005, 02:57 AM

Iron_Scarecrow
10-03-2005, 03:50 AM
I got my familiar by purchasing a Terrarium at the market for 500 meat. Then I put some kind of worm in it which I got from adventuring somewhere, I can't remember where, and now I have a 1 pound mosquito called Petal with 3 kills. :D
Eagle of Fire
10-03-2005, 03:56 AM
Gotta try that, I got some of those worms too. :D
Is the terranium one use only? If not could you consider putting it in the stash so I don't have to waste meet getting another terranium? That would be great. :ok:
Calamity
10-03-2005, 04:12 AM

Eagle of Fire
10-03-2005, 04:14 AM
Yeah, that would be great. Of course once I'm finished with it I'll give it back. :D
I have a question; I now have the Bugbear outfit. I noticed that my Avatar changed to a Bugbear (hehehe!) but does it bring other benefits? My current armor is better, if it only change the look then I won't bother...
Edit: stupid me forgot to check the market... The terranium is there. A stupid player is me! Erm, wait... LOL
Iron_Scarecrow
10-03-2005, 04:33 AM
Actually after purchasing the Terrarium you use it and it sets itself up in your campground and you can use it as many times as you want. You can also hold multiple familiars in it, cause I don't think you can carry more than one with you.
Calamity
10-03-2005, 05:25 AM
I can't wait to get the Bugbear suit! Their picture is ridiculously cute. :P Is there a quest you need to do for it? The only other benefit I can think of is the fact that you can go to the Bugbear Bakery.
I'm trying to practice self control right now and not play anymore so that after tomorrow's rest period I'll have 60 adventures waiting for me.

Also there are some really nice people on the chat, I asked how to protect myself from the guana and someone gave me an elemental saucesphere it last 1000 adventures and prtoects from fire cold stench and spookiness. Some also gave me a ode to booze song which lasts 14 adventures and it increases the effects of alcohol.

If you like that tatoo so much Calamity then I could lean you the Bugbear outfit. Then all you need to do is to go see the Pretentious Artist and you'll have the tatoo (assuming you completed his quest first, of course).
When it's done give me the outfit back. :)
Edit: also I have found out that skills effects last for roll-over. For example I always use all my MP before resting with my first low level skill (the one which give 2 temporary Muscle point) and now I have the effect for 365 adventures. :P

Havell
10-03-2005, 07:33 PM
Muscle affects the amount of damage your attacks do to your enemy and your maximum HP, mysticality affects how much damage your spells do to your enemy and your maximum MP and moxie affects how likely the enemy is to hit you. Of course there are many items/skills that change this, eg the mystical classes can get skills that make it so mysticality determines the amonut of damage done with staffs.

To get new skills, do I need to be in the guild? That'd make sense i suppose - any idea how much mysticality / what level i need to get by the wizard's hangman trial?
Havell
10-03-2005, 10:54 PM
Usually you need only 1 or 2 more mysticality to get past the next trial, when you gain a point, try it, if you fail, get another point and try again, it's only 1 adventure.
And yes, you do need to be in your class guild to learn skills and spells, which is especially important for magical characters.

Having a meat maid at your site will give you 4 free adventure a day. Wearing a dead man watch will also bring you extra adventure at rollover. There is also several other ways to get free adventures but you need to find them. I reckon chrome weapons is a way. Having a miniature plastic bitchin car would be another.
As soon as you hit level 5 you can find anything at the mall. Sometimes for really cheap too.

I have a friend of mine who started to play one day after me. He got approached by someone to enter a clan and I was wondering if this clan is Abadonnia only strickly enforced.
He's level 5 and seems to be doing fine. His name is Dundee (#429121). I been sending him a lot of items lately to help him. The only bad thing is that he's yet another Seal Clubber...
What do you think? Do you want to allow him in?

Well, there is a little something about eating 7 Abobinable Snowcones a day when there used to still have some in the stash...
From that good start I started to pile up meat and immediatly went for the stronger quests. I shop at the mall more than once a day and I hunt good items to boost my damage absobtion, power rating and Strenght which allow me to fight monsters way more powerfull than usual. Also I managed to get some nice Seal Clubber skills which really help me fight harder.
Then I went to the Leet Tapor quest and learned to smith weapons with the ore I found at the strangely named mine.
I also hit Fenswarthy's Basement in the Dungeon full of Dungeons pretty often. Every 5 levels or so you have a choice to gain free strenght or free something else. No need to say I always pick the leather jacket to get strenght. :D

Each of those items cost 2 ores of the required attribute, 1100 meat and 3 adventures. And I happen to currently have one of each crafted already in case someone in the Clan want one, which mean I used 18 ores, 9900 meat and 27 adventures to do them. That's why I'm a little behind everyone else right now.
So if you want one of those items just ask and I'll be happy to pass it to you. Please consider the time and money it takes to make one of those tough. I am willing to give the items for 1100 meat and 2 ores (which is the making cost) but if you can or want to spit out a little more meat for the trouble then you'll make me an happy meatsmith. :)

I don't know what you mean by "better items"... Do you mean the ores? If you want I have some extra that I took in the stash that I can give you to experiment.
However you will probably need to buy the appropriate skill at the guild first.
I just meant that with what I have now the only things that I can smith together are two turtle helmets. :P

Yes if you use it just to support your first character...
But I want to start again with another character and turtle tamer is also quite funny character....I admit I will sent to it some items(probably) but I would do the same if someone of my relatives or friends start plaiyng it.

That is one of the things that keeps me playing the game. Let me tell you that there is only one thing better than being given items and that's giving them out, it's the reactions that are the fun part, I've had one person wanting to marry me and another orgasmed unexpectedly.

Havell

I can't remember the marrying one but I gave the orgasming one a leprechaun hatching as she was polite and was saying about how hard it was to find one. I only give out things if that person is specifically looking for one, can spell, is polite and has trying to get that item for a while themselves. Beggars get nothing.

Well there is this thing called Ascension but I'm not sure when you are able to do it. But when you do it you can change your class go back to level one but you can bring one skill to the new class with you. I'm not exactly sure what happens to your items though, so Eagle when the time comes you could probably ascend and become a Turtle Tamer.
Iron_Scarecrow
24-03-2005, 04:18 AM
Ok I just found out Ascension isn't possible to anyone yet, it is still being tested, but it's rumoured it will be avaible soon. This (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v111/stabby1/4.jpg) is the best explanation I have seen of it so far.

Some possibilities:
-Beg on chat.(or make smart talks how you have no meat) You can get banned from chat or get a LOADS of meat(like Iron_screcrow  )
-Get a Lepreuchant. This fammiliar increase meat that will drop dedeated monsters. How you can get it?Get ten-leaf clover from hermit, then adventure in spooky forest, get luckly bowl of charm, eat it and pray that you get lepreuchant hatchling.
-Buy a shop. This is possible only on lvl 9 or higher and you must pa 50,000 meat first, but it makes a LOADS of meat.
Btw dont worry.R.Havell played around 12,000 turns so he is in a Litle better than we... :D

I give out meat grants for specific things, like if you want to learn a skill or you need a new weapon. If you tell me how much meat you need and what you need it for and I think your reason is valid I will give you the meat (actually, I'm more likely to give you the item if you just ask for an item). However, I do not just randomly give out meat, you can get free cocktails from the clan stash though (personal use only, no selling on for profit).

Please Peregy stop flooding this thread. There is a message function in the game for those little one liner questions... I'll be happy to help you if you need help too.
Edit: I've started a business deal with Lizard2 for his shop and I'd like to extend the offer to all the clan members who have or will have a shop. The business deal is about Chrome weapons. A quick look at the mall will show you that Chrome Swords sell at the lowest possible around 5000 meat and that Crossbows and Staves are around 8000 each. Lizard2 tryied selling Staves at 8000 and they were all gone in one day. This is only the lowest price tough, you would probably be able to sell them at a higher price.
If you want me to make Chrome weapons for your shop I will be charging 75% of your selling price. This is for the trouble I'll have to get the ores plus the 1100 meat required to smith first of all. This mean that if you sell at 8000 meat then you give me 6000 meat for the trouble. You'll then have a net gain of 2000 meat when the item is sold and this without even lifting a finger. Pretty neat if you ask me.
Second option is for you to provide the required items and meat. This mean 2 ores and 1100 meat per item. If you do this I will go down to 50% of the selling price because this time you got the trouble of finding the ore at the first place and you are also paying the 1100 meat. Second advantage is that I won't need to go adventuring to get the ores so you will be able to have them fast without the risk of waiting a day or two.
Of course I won't really know which price you really sell your weapons, but this offer is only extended to the member of this Clan. Trust and confidence is a requirement here, if I find out that you pay me the % on 8000 and you actually sell your weapons at 12000 meat without paying me back the extra then I'll simply refuse to continue the deal. Especially since I'll probably open my own shop soon when I get enough money.
If you are interested then drop me a message and we'll talk about it.
Edit2: of course all the members of this Clan also have the first Chrome weapons offer, which is to provide me with 2 ores and 1100 meat and I'll make the weapons for free. You'll need to do a quest at a time to get those ores so it's no hassle for you. As soon as you get a shop tough this offer will drop and the business offer up there will take effect. :)

I never begged. I was always polite when asking questions, and the more experienced players always help polite newbies than beggars, so I was just lucky I'm a polite person.
Then after a couple days I started to drop subtle hints of things that I wanted and on more cases than not I got them, while still being polite. But that 250k that I got I hadn't said much in chat at all that day.
And I have only been banned once and that was not for begging.
