Need help playing Champions of Krynn

I have DOSBox installed. The Krynn games are installed in the file c:\Oldgames. (One folder for each of the three Krynn games)
When running DOSBox, I enter:

mount c c:\Oldgames\Champs
c:
start

But I'm still getting the error that I can't save a character due to Hal35. I've looked at other threads about this problem but it seems that I've already done the steps listed there. I've tried running the batch files and changing the default save location; still not having any success.

Simplest way to tune Goldboxes right for you is removing config altogether.

Find .CFG file and remove it. After that, game will ask you all needed questions, including save location.

Other possible problem is that you don't use intended place (i.e. Champs subdir). Your quoted mount means that game is located at C, not in c:\champs. Sometimes it can be the problem. So try to

mount c c:\Oldgames\
cd c:\champs
start
