I'm just wondering, I don't think this is abandonware, I've seen it in Warcraft bundles and even a few copies at software stores (The CD case ones, not full boxes) knowing Blizzard I don't think they would like it either, clear it up please.

It's been ages upon ages since I've seen Warcraft for sale.
Warcraft 2 on the other hand is still selling, even here in Norway.

It doesn't really depend on whether they're selling it or not, it depends on Blizzard saying whether it is legal to be downloaded or not.

I'm pretty sure I saw it in a Bundle once, even a few brand new jewel-cases.

If Its not on Amazon its not still sold and warcraft is not on amazon!
Search the net and try to find a site/shop trying to sell it .

Refer to my post before, it doesn't matter if it's being SOLD.
Look for the Warcraft/Warcraft 2 bundle, it's on amazon.

I've seen it for sale in those big packs, all 3 games in 1 box type thing, but that was a couple months ago.

:( , this is Blizzard we're talking about, Blizzard doesn't WANT you to download it, no matter if they aren't supporting it or selling it, we have something called IDA.

So you're saying that is not abandonned??

Abandonware is not legal. It is tolerated by some companies, some don't know about it and some don't know they own rights to some old games none of the new-generation developers have never heard of, but that does not mean it would be legal to upload them to the net.

The only difference I have between warez and abandonwarez is the fact that I don't believe I will be ripping anyone off when I download abandonware, but I do when I download warez. And that's the reason I download abandonware, but not warez. For me, it has nothing to do with laws.

Yes, there are some games on Abandonia that have been given to the public by their developers, namely Betrayal at Krondor, but that is an exception to the rule. Most developers whose games we want to remember seem to become bankrupt before they free their old games, and most publishers don't like abandonware even that much.

I don't like the facts, but this is how they are. All this I learned all this from wisened old man named Tony, but preferring his middle name Gandalf. Who wouldn't believe him?

Lemme put it this way: Blizzard.com still has a Warcraft tech-support section.

It's still supported, therefor it's not abandoned.

Speaking of which, someone could just, say, E-MAIL them and see...

either way it doesn't bug me as my friend has warcraft :D

:D I could resolve this by e-mailing Blizzard, they've answered me several times before. Maybe it could be abandonware, dunno, just not sure about it.

Those Bliz people are really nice.

Well, so why don't you just email them to clear things up, instead of making this thread? ;)

perhaps Kosta or Wendy and friends already e-mailed and asked permission?

I am sure that the admins and/or Kosta have the consent of the company.

Well, there's no one to truly verify so I'm sure asking won't hurt.
