Game Genre/style Question

Heyhey all. I was wondering if anyone had any opionions on any good 1st person (like Wing Commander/Star Wars, but other than those) or 3rd person (like Solar Winds/Star Control, but other than those) space combat/exploration games? Im not really lookign for anything with mindless shoot-em-ups either, something with a storyline.

Your best bet would be Star Control II right off this site.

Or if you want the WinXP/Win2k compatible remake with voice-acting you should head over to The Ur-Quan Masters (http://sc2.sourceforge.net) official site. It's even a legalized free download recreated by the original designers...

Good choice! It's actually Star Control 2 ive played, not 1, hehe, but you know, I think i'll play the first one now. Just to see the roots of such a wonderful game.
Yah know, I wish they made a game like Star Control 2, that was 1st person. That'd be so much fun

For a first-person game, try to get your hands on Independence War 2: Edge of Chaos (http://www.atari.com/us/games/iwar2/pc). Great story, big ships. :D

Elite (or Elite Plus which is on Abandonia) doesn't exactly have a storyline, but it's nevertheless one of the best space sims around.

Starflight is also well recommendable.
