Hey guys, I'm wondering what kind of people like abandonware games :). So tell me a bit
I'm a student of a multimedia design course at an art academy in holland (Rotterdam). Where i'm studying to become..well...a multimedia designer! (who would have seen that one coming).
A good nickname for people at my education would be 'designerd'' since we design a lot, but are still geeks behind the computer ;)
My interest in abandonware is mainly playing my golden oldies. Plus it inspired me a couple of times for designwork. I'm not kidding around.

I'm 24 year old PC freak with gaming experience of 9 years (since 1995 I got my first computer - 486DX2-66 MHZ). Needless to say, this set my decision to study anything which has to do with computers. At September I'll be student of technical assistant of information (or like that, not sure how to translate that from German, perhaps ITA would explain it), has to do with - guess what - computers.

Before that, I played some very nice games on the Commodore 64, like Defender of the Crown, Maniac Mansion, Sim City. I can't even remember when I got that one.

I'm 17 years old anf from Belgium.
My interests are:
Art (all kinds, except for the overly-modern and the overly-religious)
I've also created a bit of scenes in 3d (I wouldn't call it art)
If I haven't given the link already you can view the gallery here
http://www.3dcommune.com/3d/gallery.mv?Bry...nly+6+tRpbGtBvQ (http://www.3dcommune.com/3d/gallery.mv?Bryce+only+6+tRpbGtBvQ)
I'm also an aspiring writer and have nearly finished my first 'book' (or is it called a manuscript at the moment?)
More serious intrests include International Politics
especially Middle Eastern Politics (I'm a die-hard zionist)
and International Law.
I'm planning on studying International Law.
I am fluent in Dutch, French, English, Hebrew and i'm also going to study German and later (probably in university) also Russian and Chinese.
On a historical level I'm mostly interested in Modern History (1900 and onward)
To be honest Medieval History bores me to death.
Other than that... oh yes I love playing old games :)

just so kewl.. i'd never imagined that someone out there, especially at sweden, is actually learning cantonese..
and to tell you the truth, i don't really understand all of the language.. i just knew a little so "Mg?i néih y?t wún w?hnt?nmihn, t?hng y?t wún gahpdáijuk." means almost nothing to me..
although is seems like a "thanks" or asking something..

I still live in Trondheim... NORWAY! Do not be fooled by Titan's editing...
As for the sentence, it means:
Please you one bowl won-ton noodles, and one bowl congee with mixed meat.
Now that is directly translated, so the grammar is incorrect in English, but it gives you an idea for how the Cantonese grammar is.
As for the word Mg?i...
It means please, so you were correct in both your a$$umptions :)

may i have a bowl of wantan noodles and a bowl of congee with mixed meat

Congee is a thicker version of porridge popular with the cantonese in particular.

The Niles

No it's not.
Treat your opposite like you want him to treat you...
is something entirely different as,
Handle nur nach derjenigen Maxime, durch die du zugleich wollen kannst, dass sie ein allgemeines Gesetz werde.
(do only that which you can at the same time wish to be a universal law)
what this means is that Kant wants you to ask yourself the question, "could I want everyone to act exactly as I am about to act?" To give an example, I am about to break a promise because it suets me at the moment. Can I wish for everyone to break their promises when ever it suets them? Obviously not, so I cannot make a universal law of it and therefore it fails the Categorical Imperative.
That this is something completely different from do onto others... I hope I do not have to explain.

Sing along (click me) (http://www.library.adelaide.edu.au/guide/hum/philosophy/philos_song.au)
Immanuel Kant was a real pissant
Who was very rarely stable.
Heidegger, Heidegger was a boozy beggar
Who could think you under the table.
David Hume could out-consume
Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel, [some versions have 'Schopenhauer and Hegel']
And Wittgenstein was a beery swine
Who was just as schloshed as Schlegel.
There's nothing Nietzche couldn't teach ya
'Bout the raising of the wrist.
Socrates, himself, was permanently pissed.
John Stuart Mill, of his own free will,
On half a pint of shandy was particularly ill.
Plato, they say, could stick it away--
Half a crate of whisky every day.
Aristotle, Aristotle was a bugger for the bottle.
Hobbes was fond of his dram,
And René Descartes was a drunken fart.
'I drink, therefore I am.'
Yes, Socrates, himself, is particularly missed,
A lovely little thinker,
But a bugger when he's pissed.

The categorical imperativ is bullish. *
Explanation follow:
1. Morality demands that we achieve autonomy wherever and whenever possible.
2. If (1), then there is no justification for any coercive regulation.
3. If there is no justification for any coercive regulation, then we should adopt anarchism.
4. Therefore, we should adopt anarchism.
This is not an explanation. Why does morality demand that we achieve autonomy?

I guess I'm the last to post, . Either way, I'm a college student here in Ohio. I'm 19 and I've been playing adventure and DOS games since I was probably 10, and the computers in my house have been so numerous I can't even remember them. See my parents are teachers, and whenever the school would get rid of a computer, we usually got it, :D . I work in a comic book/role playing game/miniatures store, it's great. Outside of that I enjoy playing role=playing games both video game and more so table top. I also enjoy films since that's what I plan on going into, as well as I have a great passion for rock music. Hope that's interesting enough? Last I got into this website cause I love downloading and replaying all those old games I played when I was much younger.
