View Full Version : Dos Games Giving Error!

Just recently when I try playing any oldgames eg DOS even Chip's Challenge I always came up with an error:

"file location"
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\AUTOEXEC.NT. The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications. Choose 'Close' to terminate the application.

Could anyone help? I know that most of the DOS ones work by DOSBox but the others don't.

Thanks,
Apoorva

Read the pinned thread here (http://www.abandonia.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=2534).

And this have absolutly nothing to do with DOS, it's 100% Windows fault. Perhaps even more than 100%. :sneaky:

Damn windows
You pretty much nailed the problem with this statement!

DOS is sooooooooooo much easier to use!!! When a game doesn't work, there are three possible causes:
1)Not enough conventional memory
2)You did not set the sound parameters according to reallity
3)The game might require to be installed in the root directory

All of these problems are very easy to solve.I just love DOS

Most often problem I had with DOS was not enough conventional memory.

Remove all TSR's from memory.Pretty simple, unlike the complex errors that some windows games can return

Problem was that when I load mouse, soundblaster and CD rom drivers (all required for the game to work properly) I have not enough memory left to start the game.

Amiga DOS/Workbench was way better. :bleh:

he also came out with the best current console (xbox) so he doesn't deserve that, windows can be annoying but thats not all his fault (blame his programmers as well)
