When I went through my computer, I found some photos I took, mainly last summer. Thought about sharing them with you guys ;)

The pics I'm going to show you first were taken on a small island by Iceland. We borrowed a summerhouse there for a night, and a boat.

This (http://www.abandonia.com/~puffin/photo/Picture%20008.jpg) photo was taken on the boat, arriving to the island. You can see the house there ;)

A small "island" ('http://www.abandonia.com/~puffin/photo/Picture%20009.jpg')

Sunset (http://www.abandonia.com/~puffin/photo/Picture%20010.jpg)

My family (http://www.abandonia.com/~puffin/photo/Picture%20011.jpg) walking around the island. Mom closest to the camera, then my cousin, then I think it's dad, that's disappearing there.

On the land (http://www.abandonia.com/~puffin/photo/Picture%20012.jpg) you see across the sea, is my uncle's farm. The little white dots ;)

What can I say? (http://www.abandonia.com/~puffin/photo/Picture%20013.jpg)

My dad, and puffins ;) (http://www.abandonia.com/~puffin/photo/Picture%20022.jpg)

Some landscape (http://www.abandonia.com/~puffin/photo/Picture%20023.jpg)

:max:

EDIT: Forgot to mention.. This island is called Sau?ey, which means sheep-island :w00t: Farmers used to sail there with their sheep, and make them eat grass there.

Thank you, Void, Tai and Strobe!! :)

Here I have couple of pics that I kinda like. Maybe they're not everybody's cup of tea, but I like the "rawness" of them.

This one (http://www.abandonia.com/~puffin/photo/Picture%20063.jpg) is of my little sister. It is taken (like the next one) by our summerhouse. We have a little boat, and often go fishing. I actually dont' know what I find so special about it.. Her position, somehow, she's concentrating on the fish. And the huge gloves :D

I REALLY (http://www.abandonia.com/~puffin/photo/Picture%20051.jpg) can't explain what I like about this one. It is of my sister and my dad. I guess I just like dead fish (when it's not on my dish :D ) :bleh:

Well... Like I said, maybe not everybody's cup of tea.. But deffinately mine ;)

Cool. A picture showing off actual Icelandic chores. I've gutted fish in my lifetime too. And you Icelandics think us Americans are cremepuffs. :bleh:

Hmm I wouldn't really call it chores... more of a hobby ;)
Most people buy fish from fish-stores, but we never do that. My dad used to be a sailor all year around, but now he only sails in the summer. But we always get free fish, either get it ourselves or someone we know.

[off topic].. So.. Beanbean-kingdom is in America? interesting...

Fawfulhasfury
08-02-2005, 08:16 PM
....Oh, darn. Too bad. I had hoped that those were traditional chore I had witnessed.

BTW the Bean-bean kingdom is just where my evil lair is.

Puffin
08-02-2005, 08:17 PM
I'm pretty sure that "traditional chores" are just the same here as in the US ;) We don't live in iglos, nor in houses made of stones and grass anymore. ;)

LOL
I knew that. I was joking. I study about Iceland in Geography you know. Now about those supposed steam and hot water pools. :sneaky:

Puffin
09-02-2005, 05:45 AM
hmm.. Steam and pools... I might have some photos of that somewhere...

But untill, I'm going to show you some photos I took in Switzerland and Germany, in 2003. Mostly landscape.

This one (http://www.abandonia.com/~puffin/photo/photo2/Picture%20006.jpg) is taken from the airplane (obviously), near Frankfurt AM. I just love the way the fields split up, different colours, and the forests......

This (http://www.abandonia.com/~puffin/photo/photo2/Picture%20059.jpg) was taken on Mt. Rigi, in Switzerland. That's a beautiful mountain, we took some "train" most of the way up (not sure what it's called...)
The lake is Luszern Lake, or something like that. It's huge!!
Imagine living in one of those houses! It's so cute :D

This (http://www.abandonia.com/~puffin/photo/photo2/Picture%20064.jpg)is on that train/wagon/whateveritis. The cow is plastic!!! Placed up besides the trails! Then when we went higher, we saw some actual cows. (They weren't black and white :blink: )

Taken (http://www.abandonia.com/~puffin/photo/photo2/Picture%20084.jpg) from the top of the mountain.
I remember standing there for a long time, staring. Breathtaking.

Okey, (http://www.abandonia.com/~puffin/photo/photo2/Picture%20027.jpg) this one is different. But it's taken in Switzerland, nevertheless :whistle:
It's (quite obviously) a seat in a bus. We were in some tunnels, driving through a mountain. Pretty cool, in my opinion!

Sean
09-02-2005, 06:00 PM
They all look so cold.... dont you take holidays in warmer places?

Danny252
09-02-2005, 06:55 PM
no it looks like some swiss rack train. it's amazing what speeds swiss trains can achieve.. 90 kmh?? I suppose that is the Albula tunnel...
but nice stuff anyway puffin ;) you are good.

Sean
09-02-2005, 10:12 PM
Agreed, very nice photographs despite the fact they make me cold!

My favourite picture that is related to you is probabaly the halloween one or that one of you in class with the pencil!

Hows things puffs haven't spoke to you in a long while.

Puffin
09-02-2005, 10:51 PM
Cold? :blink:
The average heat in Switzerland while I was there was about 30-35°c!!
But those pics were taken in the mountains ;) Bit colder there than in the town I stayed in.

And the pics I posted earlier, from the Westfjords, yeah, it's pretty cold there. By the Greenland-ocean ;)

Strobe
10-02-2005, 11:55 PM
i can't agree. those pics don't look "cold" to me...
i like the one with the cow most!!! it has something very special to it! :D

Puffin

Hmm.. I'm draining up my photo album :blink:
Just found some pics I took last spring. Me, my former boyfriend and my family went to my old town for couple of days, and travelled a bit around.

Svínavatn. (http://www.abandonia.com/~puffin/photo/photo2/patreksfj%f6r%f0ur%20(185).JPG) Isn't close to my hometown, but about 200 km's away from the city. Svínavatn = Pig's-lake.

My sister. (http://www.abandonia.com/~puffin/photo/photo2/patreksfj%f6r%f0ur%20(57).JPG) This is our (oh so fancy) boat, Litli Rau?ur (Little Red). Me and my friend put my sister in it, and took the oars away, and pushed her on the sea. The boat was tied to the ground, but she couldn't see it, as the roap was underwater. Then we walked away :sneaky:

The "river" ('http://www.abandonia.com/~puffin/photo/photo2/patreksfj%f6r%f0ur%20(7).JPG') by our house. I kinda like this one. There's actually nothing so special about it, but I dunno...

Next day, (http://www.abandonia.com/~puffin/photo/photo2/patreksfj%f6r%f0ur%20(85).JPG) few minutes drive from our house. Doesn't look much like Iceland, does it?

Seen from Látrabjarg. (http://www.abandonia.com/~puffin/photo/photo2/patreksfj%f6r%f0ur%20(90).JPG) Látrabjarg is the Westest point of Europe. Most of the puffins in the world live there, or in Vestmannaeyjar (one of my favourite places in Iceland :D ).

At Látrabjarg. (http://www.abandonia.com/~puffin/photo/photo2/patreksfj%f6r%f0ur%20(123).JPG) If you look carefully, you can actually see one really small fishing boat there :D

This one (http://www.abandonia.com/~puffin/photo/photo2/DSC02995.JPG) has absolutely nothing to do with my hometown. It's taken on the south-west corner of Iceland. Me and couple of friends rented a car, to try to find puffins. But we didn't find any in this trip :(
I don't remember what this place is called, and maybe it just doesn't matter..

Stay tuned ;)

Puffin
12-02-2005, 09:42 PM
Here's one of the pic I took in this boring history class. Man, that teacher can spend hours talking about nothing.
This pic is of my baseball. My very own baseball. The baseball I love oh so dearly.

When I think of it, I may have a bit weird taste when it comes to photography... :blink:

Strobe
15-02-2005, 07:38 PM
hehehe, your "very own baseball". nice to be introduced to it! it doesn't seem to
be used actively, though.... do you play baseball?

Puffin
15-02-2005, 09:45 PM
Nope, we don't have baseball in Iceland :( :(

Hmm I haven't actually taken many photos lately, but tomorrow there are starting Theme-days at my school... should be able to find something interesting there :whistle:
They have a photography-competition.. I know I'm not as good as many others, but I might give it a try ;)

taikara
16-02-2005, 02:07 AM
I don't know what to say about the baseball... it's round? :D

Still an interesting picture though!

I can't wait to see what kind of theme days they have in Iceland, whee! :ok:

Puffin
17-02-2005, 02:33 PM
Hmm the theme is "The Wild West". But no photos for you from there :(

I was going through my stuff on my mother's computer, and I found photos I took in Vestmannaeyjar couple of years ago, and I found this. (http://www.abandonia.com/~puffin/photo/photo2/Vestmannaeyjar%20(40).jpg) My old band went there, on the Sailor's day (first Sunday in June).
In Vestmannaeyjar (small island south of Iceland), there is this tradition of sailing inside of caves, in some of the islands, and play trumpet. This is a teacher I used to play with. He played Amazing Grace, and it was so beautiful, I can't describe it.
This photo isn't exactly art, but I love how the light in it :bleh:

very beautiful, puffin! :kosta:

Puffin

Thanks, Strobe!! ^_^

I took couple of pics this morning, on my way to school.
This (http://www.abandonia.com/~puffin/photo/sunriseB.jpg) one I like really much. I've been doodeling with it in Photoshop, but this is the original one. I always make it too bright or too dark <_<
My Photoshop skills suck!!
Anyways, the original (this one) is the best version I've got of it (so far) ;)

Tonight I'm probably going to the beach in a town nearby and take some pics of the sunset!! :w00t:

hey puffin!

what a nice gift from your dad!
several years ago, my dad gave me his old cam, too! it's a pentax super A.
although i have to admit, that digital cams are much more comfortable in a way,
the pictures which i have taken with this oldtimer-device are nearly unbeatable!

its lens is by far more sensitive to light and colours than any of the two digi cams
i own. the quality of the pictures shot with the pentax are easily balancing out the
fact that its pictures still have to be "generated" in a photo lab...

for example, the grasshopper photography i've put into the photo-thread has
been taken with the pentax.

"old" cameras can deliver great results!

have fun with yours!!!

I took some photos yesterday, of friends of mine, a couple. They're so cute together ^_^
Those are pretty different than my older pics.. that is, not landscape :bleh:

http://www.abandonia.com/~puffin/photo/alissaanna/AlissaAnnaBW.JPG

~~~
http://www.abandonia.com/~puffin/photo/alissaanna/locker1.jpg
Those are my favourites of the ones I took on a digital camera. I haven't printed out the ones I took on film yet.
But the thing is.. I'm not sure I like them because of personal reasons, or because they're (possibly) any good. That's why I need your help ;) Whaddayathink?
EDIT: I know of few buggy things about them. Alissa's temple is fukcedup because of her glasses, the window on the top left is pretty distracting, Alissa's glasses are cut off on the right, etc. Please try to overlook that ;)
And I messed up when removing the date stamp on the second one.... :tomato:
