Cga Section

All right now, I know I haven't been here for a while but exams are over, so I guess I'm back a little.

Kosta already said there can't be CGA games on Abandonia. He doesn't want low quality ones here and he doesn't want to have many small games just to increase total number of games on the site.

Well, if game is CGA it doesn't necessary means that it is not good. And if don't want them for increasing the number, fine. I have idea.

Why shouldn't we start new section for CGA? Entire section can't require much space since games are in KB and we can look professional and even answer someones curiosity in case he needs something or wants to see old game. This could be often, since lot of good games are just copycats of old ones.

Now, this section doesn't have to look like games section and games in it WILL NOT be numbered. I want to start this and will take care of it, since no addim and owner is interested. But, since it won't eat much space and I'm willing to do that, why not?

I think the best of the cga games should be uploaded next to the normal games .I don't like their graphics, but as you have said, there are some good ones.No need to open up another section...

Right, you shouldn't wrong good cga games only because there are many bad ones. There must be a compromiss (extra page with other title?).

I know folks, but Kosta spoken.....
He said he wants NO CGA games. I actually wanted to make some packes, like International Karate and World Karate Championship (which are same, except for the backgrounds). Pack won't have more then 100kb, you can count them as 1 game, and what is most important gameplay is amazingly smooth. Same goes for Rad Warrior. Then there are some legends like Shinobi.

Well, keep on with suggestions and comments. Let's see what people think.

As much as I love these games I really hate the CGA PC versions. Those games looked so much better on C64 (not to mention Amiga).

There should be more remakes (but I don't know if they would be uploaded).

Anyway, I don't know any true classics in CGA except sokoban :D

No one will say that because looking at MI graphics doesn't hurt your eyes and causes severe headaches :D

All right, I guess it's like this: everyone has it's own oppinion. Hehehehhee, boy I'm smart.

Look, I really think that there are many CGA games worth a try. Since they are small I thought that it can't hurt to have them.

If Kosta doesn't want Abanadonia to become site with all kinds of crapy games, i respect that. So, why don't we upload several good CGA games (like we already did) and rest can be in extras or something?

Now, you'll ask why do we need CGA games which are not good. Well, I'm not planing to deal with real bad games. Only the ones that were legendary and that were inspiration to much better games, so real fans of certain games might take a look if they want. Also, many legends on other platforms were crapy on PC, but they deserve that much of respect. And another thing, there are some games that look too much crapy, but they were so smooth and fun to play. Example is Rad Warrior and International Karate, which can be played in Dosbox only if you lower the cycles down to 250 and then it is incrediblly smooth animation and action is very very fast.

So, i guess this is the question: what is the merit of the good game? It's graphics, popularity it had or the gameplay itself? Or atmosphere? Or everything?

If I upload Into the Eagle's Nest (which I'm planning to) which was hailed in the time it appeared (it's hard action game) and we don't upload Inetrnational Karate which is a way better simpley because of CGA, i guess that's not really fair.

So, Kosta, if you don't want some games to be counted on the site because they are CGA, then what about new section (like in EXTRAS or something) which won't cost much space and won't lower Abandonia's games quality since they are not with the other games, and there will surley be many people who will like to see that we didn't forget some old legends although they look bad on PC?


I will personally take care for this section (with help of someone who also cares, if ther's noone else i don't mind), so I guess this won't cost much. I also promise not to turn my back on other ways of contribution (WOW, now that's important, say.... :D )

Personally I think CGA games should be allowed. I mean I had loads of fun playing some of those games, and they are abandonware...

Maybe if we just have the ones that are hard to get on other sites?

Or just real legends? But who can say which ones are legends??
