As I don't like the rules, so I'll post this here instead on site suggestion.

I would help me browse Abandonia during the day if avatars are work/school safe.

What do I mean by that?

Naked angel, two girls kissing... etc. Does not matter if I like to see that :drool: , I might get in to trouble because of content. :cry: :hairpull:

So, what do you guys think? :blink:

I don't think it's a question of HIM getting offended, I think it's more a question of what is deemed inappropriate, if Titan can have a picture of some naked chick with her breasts out, and that person with a german looking name (sorry) can have madonna and britney spears making out, where does one draw the line? From my understanding of avatar rules, are they not supposed to be family oriented? Help me out here administrators. :kosta:

If I disable images, like I did with signatures, it will block everything, so art forum will be blank. :blink:

But if that's only option, will do that.

in the user cp, board options theres this option:
Do you wish to view members avatars when reading topics?
if you set that to no, you'll still be able to see other images when not seeing avatars.
anyway, my 6th form college doesn't block this stuff but even if it did i'd be able to get here :P

Just a simple reminder to all...

Quite some pictures were deleted, because they weren't apropriate (remember the joke section...). And if some joke pictures and some words are edited, deleted, not welcome, because they aren't apropriate - then I guess the same rule should aply to the avatars and sigs.

Personaly I like most of them (and they in a way represent the person that uses it), but I agree with Anubis. There has to be a line somewhere. Where... So far the only one that suprised me a bit was the one with Britney and Madonna, although many others could also be inapropriate.

I often hope people can use common sense in those matters, but just like IRL often you end up with people who doesn't seems to care/don't use common sense.

I reported posts of members here in the past to report sexually suggestive avatars and for the record I just did the same here with that image of Britney and Madona kissing. I would have done it earlier but it's the first time I see it at the moment I am posting this message.

As much as I like to see X-rated content just like everyone else, this kind of animated picture is not intended to be seen in public g-rated board where you can expect to have 10 years old browsing freely around. It's even worse because here the avatar change for all your posts and not only the most recent ones... This mean that you could find this avatar everywhere on the whole board as long as that member posted somewhere...

I'd really wish that the rules were really strictier in this aspect. For me, only using that kind of picture should automatically make said picture removed and have your warning metter raise by 25%. :not_ok:

It's funny, I was thinking about this a bit myself. I often find myself browsing abandonia with other people in the room and having to zip past posts because of questionable avatars, which I find quite frustrating. It always seems quite odd to me, considering how strict the mods are around here, that such images are allowed. Now, Britney and Madonna doesn't bother me (though I'd prefer REAL lesbians :rolleyes:), but the nudity is definitely is an issue for me (again, more because I don't always browse alone than because I am offended), and I certainly don't want to block avatars, many of them are quite wonderful.

Anyway, I'd assume that there should be a fairly simple way to fix the problem. No need to raise warn levels though, I'm sure most people would here would be kind enough to remove the offending avatars voluntarily, given a verbal (err... textual?) warning from a mod.

my vote is play dumb.

thumbnail pics are so small they hardly offend anyone. i don't imagine anyone really caring. if someone in class etc does get a bit iffy, then say sorry and do something. if someone important gets a bit grumpy, then say sorry and play dumb.

i dunno how strict other places are, but my uni is pretty easy.

i don't think there should be too strict enforcement/censorship of explicit material. this is the internet. there's worse in the world.

I have no problems with any kind of avatars, but about the young visitors here... You see, you can find everywhere on the net more than enough sexual advertisement and other dirt, so if you think here on the forum young kids will see their first nacked people, I think you're wrong. ;)

If you put up an avatar that is inapropriate you should be warned and you should take it off.

You would have to resize them appropriately. As they would become stretched in the process, they won't look good after, though. Much easier to resize a large picture into an avatar-size, while still retaining good level of detail...
