I think it should be able to get more than 500 points (without cheating)...

That is a rule of thumb when it comes to Sierra games... You CAN go over the "maximum" score, by doing small secrets in the games.

over 500? like in 510 out of 500?? hmm.. interesting.. does it involves some easter eggs or something like that?

Every Sierra games, that I know of, have Easter Eggs...
For instance... Larry are filled with them
You can search for these Easter Eggs on the net.

If I remember correctly www.eeggs.com (http://www.eeggs.com)is a pretty good Easter egg site...

This one is the funniest and best of them all. I wish they'd have stuck to its format. That might have saved the series. 6 was just impossible. There was no way anyone could turn the druidium detector thingy into a homing beacon unless they cheated. That's my biggest beef with sierra and the space quest series. I guess I understand from a business aspect to market and get people to pay more by buying the book, but it ruins it for me when the answers aren't there in the game. There were clues that it could be changed, but I never found anything to aid in what arrangement. If I'd have not looked, it'd have taken hundreds if not thousands of variations to find it, and that NOT fun.
Anyway, SQ5 is a game I recommend to EVERYONE. I was howling almost all the way through it!

I don't know how to go on. I'm in the spaceship but I don't know where to fly - I mean the coordinates. Where can I find them? Or which way shall I fly?

If you don't mind checking walkthrough, the Ugarte's Dimension of Fantasy (http://ugarte.sierraplanet.com/) is hosting walkthrough for several Sierra's adventure games such as King's Quest, Quest for Glory, Space Quest, etc. You will find walkthrough for SQ5 there. What I like about the walkthrough style over there is that they are written in first person perspective, so it is almost like reading a novel :ok:

I think you mean the riddle in the middle of the game where you had to switch on/off switches, hm? In the manual was a logical puzzle. If solved correctly, you could pass this riddle. Some kind of funny copy protection I think. I could pass this one :bleh:

The coordinates of the planets are on a star-chart in the manual. Download it from:

Have fun playing!

Do you see the big boulder on top of the right side of the cliff? Try jamming something underneath it and push it off of there. Maybe someone who is following you will be in for a surprise :)
If you want a step by step solution check the hint guide on http://www.spacequest.net!

I'm stuck in this game where you have to rescue Cliff. When I'm in the pod, I run out of fuel in seconds.I've tried this 100 times to no avail.

I had the same problem getting the boulder to fall as Guest_rogi,
and I admit i quit at that point working on the game a while ago, I
plan to go back to it, but have to wait for my patience to return.
I did think to try to pry it down but when I tried to climb up the
rock to pry it down, it just did not work, i dont remember the
details now, I like to try to work the games out myself so I wont
try the walkthrough just yet but thanks for posting it. the visuals
in this stage of the game are really great, i love the scenery!

If you take too long, it won't work. However, you can go back, get her to follow you again and try again. After you've seen her move through the waterfall, just climb the rock and use the stick.

Make sure you put some extra fuel in it! Run the diagnostics in the pod and you'll see it says something like ' Fuel low'. Check around in the hangar for some extra fuel for your pod. And even with that, you better save before you go out it's rather tricky. If it all goes to fast or you really can't cope download a save game from after the rescue (form Spacequest.net (http://www.spacequest.net)!

:ok: Thanks alot, Reup! I just downloaded the saved games file from the site. COOL!!!!

I just hate to abandon a game, especially a cool game.

Looks like several people needed this saved game spot, because the save is titled "After Rescuing Cliff." :w00t:

Darn it all! The save games don't work. I get a message saying "wrong interpreter."

OK I will try that with the stick and rock thing, i was pretty

again, i love these screens, they are really beautiful. thanks
for the suggestion AJ Raffles, much appreciated. :kosta:

About rescuing Cliff, I don't know whether you will consider this cheating or not, but I find using slow down utility like Turbo helps a lot. After only 3 or 4 trial you should be able to rescue him. Depending on how fast your computer is, you may need to reduce the speed to 15 or 25%.

Is it really all that difficult to rescue Cliffy? It worked for me at the first try (although I had saved, just in case).

Reup

It's not really that hard, but there's a known timer issue with this scene. If you run it without something like moslo everything moves to fast and your fuel will run out before you even get a proper chance...

Timer problems in Space Quest 5
As far as I know, the only timer problem in Space Quest 5 is the EVA scene were you need to rescue Cliffy with the pod. The controls are very hard to handle because the ship moves too fast. Normally, this puzzle is already very hard. Not only is it already fast, but you have little fuel. This puzzle requires some mouse skills, so don't whine if it doesn't work right from the start.

I've spotted some small animation problems, most notably the GradeMaster 2000 sequence. Maybe some scrolling screens effects are eliminated by timer problems, but so far I haven't found any.

Yes,he was.

I also found the good ole astro chicken. He was hiding in the locker in the Eureka(The small room with the pod.The lockers are in the left)

How do you run the diagnostics in the pod? As soon as I get in, the pod takes off, and my air reading is already empty! My fuel gauge is fine, but I run out of air in a matter of seconds. Can I put more air in? If there's a way to run diagnostics inside the pod while it's still docked in the bay, I don't know what it is, 'cause as soon as I get in the pod leaves. Any ideas?

What is Space Quest V?

The best game of all time.

It took me forever to solve, but I have to say I've never had such a full gaming experience in my life--excellent plot, great characters, tough puzzles, immersing music and HUMOUR. Play it. You'll be enthralled by it.

To reiterate:
BEST...GAME...EVER.

Before you get in the pod - there is a canister of air in one of the cupboards in the airlock room. I think there is also a spacesuit here.

:ok:

You do need the air canister but can't use the space suit...it's too big and a cast-off of Cliffy :ok: You do need the mask however.

Yes rescuing Cliffy was the most difficult of the game...and yes slowing the game with Turbo is the answer to many Sierra games :)

Ahh, memories. Roger Wilco is -as I said in other threads of the series- my probably most favourite adventure hero. There's no more fun to an adventure game than to this series! No argueing about that... :bleh:

I think it's already time to replay thie one...

Dont know why so many people dont like this game, I've always found it to be quite good. I love the jokes, the setting and graphics. But thats maybe because I like Star Trek.

I always said, when downloading abandonware, if the companies would just make the game available to purchase I certainly wouldn't go behind their backs a pirate it. Luckily the Space Quest series was released again relatively recently and true to my word I went out and bought it!

This game was the best of the series in my opinion and it would have been all the sweeter if they included a voice pack especially if it included the narrator from SQ4.

Now sold on GOG along with parts 4 and 6. If you prefer to buy it as part of the Space Quest Collection, that is still sold at JustAdventure (http://www.justadventure.com/BuyGamesJA_PZ.shtm).
