Here's my review of DOOM II, which will hopefully replace Kosta's very short (and very unfair IMO) review on the game's info page:

NEVER MIND. FUCK DOOM.

That's not very objective, is it?

I thought the review was supposed to be the reviewer's personal opinion...?

No, a review has to describe the game from a neutral point of view, otherwise how would you know what is it like, if you can't or don't want to or haven't played it yet?
Not sure if I said Gryzor III is the perfect game you wouldn't be disappointed.
The same can be applied to any game ever.

I find it more convincing when someone says they had fun with it and describes a nifty quest in the game, for example, that might catch your attention... than, well, boring comparisons of graphics or gameplay quirks from a neutral PoV. *shrug*

There is a fine line, a reviewer needs to explain why they personally like a game but be objective about its flaws and good points. There is no perfect game and every game has its flaws a reviewer needs to be able to point them out so that people who don't know the game or are unsure have a fair point of reference to see if they do want to play it.

Is this review ever gonna replace the other one? I've been waiting very patiently...

I no longer want this request to be fulfilled. I just had a MAJOR falling out with DOOM, but I don't wanna talk about it right now. I'll explain after I cool down about it...

WHAT?????!!!!!!
What could possibly happen to make you hate Doom? You're worrying me, man...

All right, let me clear this up:

I don't hate DOOM, but now I don't have nearly as much respect for the game as I did a few days ago. Why? Because I just learned (the hard way) that the majority of DOOM's fanbase is nothing but a bunch of mean and immature douchebags.

To save me some spit, I'll just link to the entire incident:
Part 1 = http://www.doomworld.com/vb/post-hell/69122-doom-star-wars/
Part 2 = http://www.doomworld.com/vb/post-hell/69130-why-was-doom-star-wars-sent-to-post-hell/
Part 3 = http://www.doomworld.com/vb/post-hell/69131-fuck-doomworld/
"Mystery Man in 3D" was my username on there.

Not only is DOOMWorld the oldest and largest DOOM community out there, it's pretty much the only one left on the Internet AFAIK. So if they represent DOOM's fanbase, it's VERY hard to see why the game's popularity and fame has lasted this long...

DOOM will never be my Favorite Game again.

The GOOD news that comes from this, is that Mortal Kombat is now once again my Favorite Game Series, this time completely unopposed! DOOM was the only game that was giving MK a run for its money as my Favorite Game IMO, but now that DOOM's no longer an option, MK reigns supreme!

I'll change my avatar and signature to comply with this tomorrow...

Idle and possibly stupid question: why do you think that game qualities depends on fan-base of this game? I could understand just opposite point of view, but this one is mystery for me...

I second this. You'll be hitting that wall "People are bad" quite often in life, no reason to stop doing something fun because those bad people also do it. That just proves it is really fun. :)

OK, I appreciate you two trying to get me to show love for DOOM again, but:

1) Let me say it again: I didn't say I was gonna stop playing DOOM forever and hate it. I still like DOOM and will still play it, but nowhere near as much as I used to.

2) Truthfully, this is already working out for the better. DOOM (and just about every other FPS game I've made my Favorite Game before) NEVER stays my Favorite Game for even a day. I'm just not a shooter fan. They're just not as fun and exciting to me as fighting games like Mortal Kombat are. I'll still play shooters and like them, but they're just not my main genre. Fighting is.

Long story short, my mind is made up, and I'm not changing it back.
