Which of the listed (or the ones you have mentioned in a post) games would you like to see as a really good movie (In a dimension where Uwe Boll was subject to lynching by people with actual taste in movies)?

Remember if the game you want isn't in the list give us a shout in a post about what game you would most like to see as a movie, but still vote for one of these beauties as well. And don't forget to tell us about why and what you would most like to see in the movie.

I am torn with this one, Full Throttle and Quest for Glory would be some awesome movies to me. But Full Throttle with its more dystopian future world pulls just ahead and gets my vote. Watching Ben save the day and roar around on his bike would be perfect in action and comedy to me.

I guess Full Throttle is almost the only one which qualifies for a good movie adaptation, IMO, so I vote for it. That is, if it's not about some animated movies or a fairy tale.
However the actual game I would love to see being made into movie is Fallout 1. I know, there've been a lot post-apocalyptic movies around all the time, but with exception of The Book of Eli (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1037705/) I couldn't find one that would come even close to the unique mood that is (was) created in the first Fallout. Made to resemble the original story close enough along the original lines, while leaving freedom for creating own twists, made with love for, and thorough knowledge of what is created, I'm sure the movie could score at least a good hit.

Have you ever watched Mad Max, or Mad Max 2 Road Warrior at all Scatty? Also I seem to recall there actually was an attempt at making a Fallout movie at one point that bombed. The problem I see is that the games are just too long to cram into one movie, a TV series on the other hand...that could be the best thing ever.

Of course I saw all the three Mad Max movies, that's certainly a classic. I saw as much of post-apocalyptic movies as I could find out about, even some more obscure ones from the 80s, so I know most of them I think. The Mad Max movies, IMO, actually resemble Fallout mood even less than Book of Eli, and that latter one reminded me of the game again and again while watching it.

Actually, I can't decide - that's why I intended to make this poll. I'd like to see all of these, for example, Eric the Unready by Monthy Python or Sam and Max as a cartoon, but the one that could be still possible is Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis - looking at the last movie, they should have did this one instead. Some people say it's story is even better than the original trilogy. I can only agree on those statements, and the busty chick with Indy is still the sexiest girl in videogames in her VGA palette pixel art glory.

I find Mad Max 2 gets the closest to a Fallout style movie. Though with a Pure neutral hero since Max is still a broken man for most of that movie and only gets better by the end (one of the things I love most about 1 and 2 is how the first movie breaks him and the 2nd brings him back to who he was...3....well best watched drunk).

I have seen a a lot of PA movies, need to go to the video stores and rent some more. I used to have on on VHS which was a documentary on special effects in movies, which was based around a fake PA movie and the effects that would be in it. Had some awesome effects and then showed you how they are done, sadly I lost it.

And don't worry this is barely off topic, we are talking about movies in relation to a game that you would like to see a movie made from. Well taking it at that, I think Quarantine would make a great action-packed fast paced movie without need for deep story or much thinking. With all that violence and dark setting in the game, it would be perfect for today's violence-hungry, shock-proof audiences. There has been a movie of similar concept made already after all - Death Race (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0452608/), and not bad at that.

Scatty that movie is actually a remake/reboot/stolen idea of Death Race 2000 (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0072856/) which later ended up being a movie that the people who made Carmageddon loved.

Death Gate and Loom looks like most "cinematographic" games here for me. SO I choose first. Others are too heavy text-related. But I would vote for something more action and less text-heavy. System Shock, for example. Or Alone in the Dark (yes, I know :). Or, maybe, BioForge. Even DarkSeed and Ultima looks better than this games in terms of "possible movie", I think!

Full Throttle and Sam&Max are practicly animation movies already, so I wouldn't give my vote to them.
It goes to Monkey Island, it would need a strong (in a funny sense) leading actor and it would most certainly be better than Pirates from Caribbean movies.

About these, I think I'm going to say Monkey Island. I haven't played many of these. I don't see Loom as a movie. I would love another Indiana Jones movie if it was good of course, and I liked the game (not as much as the Last Crusade), but Atlantis is more pulp compared to the Christian mythology in the Last Crusade and the Lost Ark, and the plot of the game is a bit like a Dan Brown novel--much like the last Indiana movie was a bit like an Erich von Däniken book.

Of my choices, Samand Max got a short lived and quite good televison series, Monkey Island got Pirates of the Carrabean, so that leaves Loom. *shivver* That would be epic, in the true sense of the word.
A fantastic and rich world, I would love to see that as a good movie.

I voted for the cinematographic Indiana Jones, mostly because it's easy to associate it to the other Indy movies.

I have to agree with RRS about the release date, 20 years ago with a younger Harrison Ford would have been the best.

Well, nobody's forcing Ford to play Indiana again. I remember we talked here in these forums about who should be the next Indiana, even before the Crystal Skull was released. Someone said Dennis Quaid at the time, and I thought it was a good idea. I'm sure there are plenty of candidates. Ford is 70 effing years old.

Plenty of different actors have played 007 and it's not a bad thing, it doesn't really get in the way of people identifying the character. From seeing the Crystal Skull, I'm not sure if the producers might be thinking about having Indiana retire in the fiction and have the character what's-his-name played by Shia what's-his-name be his successor. At any rate that movie was a flop.

I don't want movies about the adventures of Indiana's younger successor, I want Indiana. I do want the Indiana franchise to be dragged on forever just like 007, what's wrong about that? Surely everybody wants more Indiana movies.

What's worse than old Ford, is that Lucas (who has his greedy sweaty hands on the franchise) and Spielberg have gone old and mad, thus unable to make proper Indy movie anymore, even if we had cloned 30something Harrison.

Then show me an example of a good Indy-like movie to prove someone has what-it-takes to do it. All we got were pathetic mutations such as Tomb Rider (and mind that I did enjoy the game) or National Treasure (I'm not even going to mention cheaper ones made-for-TV or that German series about librarian etc.).
The closest thing in Indy style (I'm not talking only about 1930s, but also cinematography, music, pace, everything) was Rocketeer, but that was again, 20 years ago!
Laugh it up that I'm ranting like Eagle of Fire, but provide an example someone still can do it the old style.

Indiana Jones was not the norm for that time either, it was a re-imaging of the serial movie shorts that used to be played in theatres from the early movie days. Kinda like a TV show it would have a small run time and only be part of a story, but with high action to keep people entertained even if they hadn't seen the others.

To be fair I wouldn't even want anyone else ever making this kind of movie again, mainly due to looking back on it the movies aren't that good. They have poor stories and all end with Deus Ex Machina solving the problem (The Ark kills all the bad guys, the army saves Indy and the Grail just happens to fall down the crack...and just happens to pass the magic line for that crack to appear) and well the characters just aren't that likeable either.

I'd like to see Full Throttle as a movie. That would really be cool. On second thought i'd like to see Sam & Max Live Action Movie with a real dog and a real rabbit. oh, well... Yes, Full throttle it is.

As for Indy 4, with no Harrison Ford, there is no indy and he is too old for an other movie i guess.

Mortal Kombat. While not the greatest movie ever it did amazing things with the games idea. So amazing that some of it ended up in the games, like Kano being Aussie. It also took the characters changed them a bit to give them character growth over the movie and changed the story a bit to give it the same.

Indiana Jones for me, but not with Harrison Ford. As for a replacement, after watching Firefly (way too shortlived series) and seeing Nathan Fillion play Mal Reynolds (I think a much better Han Solo, tha Han himself), I always thought that he would be good for the role of the famous Archaeologist.

As for me, not an easy choice. Seems the only games I can remember on that list are the MI games. As someone else said though, it would have to be more than solid to be worth it: Monkey Island the SitCom is a horrifying idea.

Speaking of Max Payne, why hadn't they use the recurring theme music? Can you name a movie made after a game which re-used in-game musical motifs? Such an easy way to trick the audience "hey, it's just like the game you loved!" and they always fail to use it!

It's great. One of the best game-to-movie adaptations IMO. Much shocking potential, dark and hellish scenes - really scary, and great atmospheric music. On my side, I didn't play the game so I can't compare it very good to the movie :p

Speaking of good videogame based movies, Prince of Persia was very good. Not that it had much to do with the plot of the 2003 game, it was very good anyway, with an interesting storyline, nice CG, and good action sequences (almost as good as Scorpionking). It should be perhaps followed with a Warrior Within and Two Thrones movie. And the Max Payne movie was awful, it's a simple gangster-cop story, and they put motherfreaking demons into it... why?! Not to mention they failed to hire either Max Payne story writer Sam Lake as a scriptwriter, and that dude who posed for the graphic novels.

Definitely Indiana Jones. As some people have mentioned, after seeing Crystal Skulls, comparatively, they could have done much better just reading off the dialogue from the game.
