Main page:
We have decided to abandon our 1 game per day policy.

What is that policy?? Is that download 1 game per day? Or upload 1 game per day?

Up untill now, we tried to put up at least one new game per day. But like it's said in the news, it has been decided to put up less games, but of better qualities.

Perfect decision! I was just browsing our games collection, and i noticed the new uploaded games pale in comparison to the old ones.

Great decision!!

Exactly how do we intend to obey this policy?

By editor ratings?

Test compatibility better, find more extras, better reviews.. that would all make the updates better. And with more time between games, that's much easier.

I would like to see better games, rather than better extras.
Also a great idea regarding extras would be to place the missing files that make a game full.Ex add speech pack to game X, add intro movie to game Y, that sorta thing.

Also just the best of the best games out there will be added, not just any old game we come across.

This would propably work,
Were there still not the size limitation...

For eventhough the speeches & videos would be in the extras,
This would propably still be counted into the overall size...

And if it would not,
Why wouldn´t they be already in the normal package?

@Kontiki
But who decides what games are the best of the best?

Editor ratings usually differ from the "common ratings" dramatically -
(Though this is mostly due to the, "argh, graphics crappy, can´t learn the rules in ten minutes = worse rating" attidute /-

Hmm,..

Rather see more games then extra`s ...

In the beginning we had 2 updates a day

Does this mean that worse games won't be uploaded on the site??
And this policy was broken anyway since in the last few days there were even more than one upload/day.
I think the number of uploads should depend on the number of plaussable reviews given. And what do you expect, I mean Abandonia has basically covered all of the classics, there are not so many great games left, and there are no "new" abandoned games so often anyway...

mybe I can get back to translating if the updates "stopped"

Puffin

Well, in the beginning it was more like one update a month!! If that!
It's interesting to go through the archives ;)

Its all about attention to detail really. We will make sure all reviews are thorough and well written, that the game is tested accross all systems, that there are plenty of screenshots and extras and so on. Just concentrate on building a really good resource rather than throwing a bunch of games just for the sake of it.

Yamcha

this means that a check should be made for all the games

Indeed..

We just need some patience :ok:

Umm sorry for reviving this topic but there is still an update a day tempo which you said that'll be abandoned...

Kosta

As long as we have quality updates to provide, this will continue at the current pace. Once we run out of updates, we won't rush things and upload a game that wasn't tested or has a mediocre review. That's all

And we didn't have a game on the 4'th ;)

You're right I guess I saw news and counted it as a game...

Well, I never liked idea of making site with the best games.

What a **** is a best game? Well, that's simpley because I don't care about graphics too much. Then again, after adding greatest hits there will be good games and then there will be none.

I would like more too add all abw games, since this site is called abandonia.

And now one big behind

I totaly agree with this slowing down. The greatest thing with this site according to me and several praises we received from new memebers is: games that work.

There is like 100000000 sites that say "free games" and then you only find links. Here you can easily spot the game you want and download it without thinking what files are missing, since all games are tested first. And at the end of review there is important note when it's needed.

So, my oppinion: Don't bother with this "quality" of games simpley because some people will like certain game and someone will not (I'm a manager fan which is not so popular among my friends).

But we should bother with our quality!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This means providing good working archives with good screeenshots and reviews, so people can just drop by and find everything that they need. Even if the game is not so good we'll have a review and shots so people can read/see themselves. As for real bad and uninterresting games, well it's up to Kosta and his ADMIN clan (no offense, just joking).

So what do you think???
Kosta or admins, say something about this idea.

Uhm... we did with a special news segment.

01.02.2005.
This news will consist of two messages. The first is todays game; Touché - The Adventures of the 5th Musketeer, which is the result of a combined effort between Maikel, Stroggy and Mats. The second news is this; We have decided to abandon our 1 game per day policy. The reason for this is simple: In the last couple of weeks we have had some games that are not exactly high on quality. We have decided to stop with that. This site is all about quality, and we will rather make less updates, but really good and thorough ones! I think you will all understand this decision. Peace out.

I guess my question was: are we taking care of games quality or update quality (quality of reviews, archives and shots) ????????

:ot: talking about touche the screenshots are blanks when i browse though the site.

Fewer better games r better than a lot of bad ones, there should be a abondonia minimum standard and some games have a lot of troubleshooting issues and if someone download them it will give a bad reputation to the files on the site

We already got here :ok:
