Hi !

Monte Cristo has gone broke : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monte_Cristo_(company)

Doesn't that make their games abandonware ? There's some good stuff out there, they had some good ideas : take Fire Dept, for instance. One of the rare action/RTS games where you save people instead of killing them.

PS feel free to move my message if I'm not in the right area of the forum.

It depends whether they were affiliated with the ESA or not. If they were, then there games would still be under the appropriate protection, but in this case, I expect it'll be whether their games are still sold anywhere or not and reviewed on a case-by-case status.

It depends whether or not the company or its properties will be bought by someone else, and the matter of games being sold exists regardless.

Probably wont matter anyway. Looking at their games they all are kind of newish (post 2000 to this day. There's even Cities XL, which is sold on Steam), which means they're probably too big.

I can't believe Cities XL sold poorly, I heard a decent number of people praising it.

Thanks for your answers. I've been looking around a bit, monte cristo was not an ESA affiliate. And some of their games are unavailable on Amazon.

I did, however, find websites where you could buy one of the games and download it. So you're right, it's not abandoned.

I'd never thought abandonware would have a "glass ceiling" ; it's strange when you realize that the ceiling is right on the millenium shift. What a coincidence :-I
