After watching loads of epic masterpieces like The Godfather, Scarface, The Road to Perdition, etc. I became obsessed with the pre 1950s era. So, I always liked to play games which would feature the well-known illusion of freedom, power and... coke? Either way, I found that there are people like me on the 'Other Side' as well, people who also watched those movies, and, in a mad twist thought it would be fun to make videogames about those silk-suited dragon-chasing gentlemen. To get to the point, let me tell you tonight I wanted to play something. Something with Chicago Typewriters (in metaphorical sense), hats, and weird Italian accents. I didn't know which game should I chose from the many. Should I play Mafia, or GTA? What about Grim Fandango? After coming to the conclusion that the best solution would be playing all of them, I wanted to write a list of my favourite gangster themed games including the ones I haven't played yet but I'm looking forward to. Here it is:
Mafia *
GTA: Vice City *
Max Payne *
Max Payne 2 - The Fall of Max Payne *
Grim Fandango *
Clou 2 - The Sting! *
Discworld Noir
Hitman - Codename 47 *
Hitman 2 *
XIII *
Kingpin
GTA III *
Made Man: Confessions of the family blood.
El Matador
Reservoir Dogs
Godfather
Total Overdose: A Gunslinger's Tale in Mexico
Scarface: The World is Yours
The reason I submitted this list is that I would like to expand it. I'm asking you all to submit your lists or recommend a game like any of the above, except the ones after 2003 or 2004, since my machine is quite old now (Godfather, Scarface and Mafia 2 are out of bounds).
P.S.: 1. I DO know that the GTA and Max Payne games are about the modern era. 2. Stars behind the names of some games indicate I've played them.
